Remaining here ans certain death, but not all of the Demon Race face death with equanimity.
As Shou hesitated after being told to flee, another senior Warrior was the first to turn around and break away from the group, sprinting madly toward the passage they ca from!
"I said we should move south, I said...it’s all your idea, Huo Yan! Now take responsibility for it yourself!"
The deserter’s action directly ignited the fear that was already weighing on everyone, and several more Warriors, terrified to the point of tears, scread and pushed past their companions, following suit.
"Cowards!" a Warrior who stayed spat vehently.
Huo Yan didn’t even glance at the fleeing ones, his gaze was fixed on the two gigantic Evil Eyes.
The Chis seed to have finally completed their assemblage, beginning their hunt, as each Six Claw figure vanished into the shadows, and the Beetles sward the ground like a tide.
"Shou! Run!"
At his urging, Shou could only turn around with gritted teeth.
However, they had not run more than a few steps when disaster struck.
The Warriors who had fled into the passage had just disappeared into the darkness when short, dreadful screams suddenly erupted from within!
Imdiately, the sound of vicious tearing and Greedy chewing followed!
Several Six Claws drenched in fresh blood erged from the passage; even senior Warriors, having lost their composure, were efficiently killed by such an ambush.
The escape route was blocked as well, as Chis’s true encirclent ca together, leaving everyone trapped like fish in a barrel.
"Kill—!" Huo Yan roared as he was the first to charge forward!
Despair ignited the final frenzy, and the battle instantly entered its most brutal phase.
The Warriors roared, each slash and thrust carried the intent to perish together with the enemy.
Blood and flesh flew, severed limbs mixed with the Chis’s purple blood splattered everywhere.
Demon Race mbers fell one after another.
A Warrior rolled over, stabbing a Six Claw exposed by the blood-covered ground from below, but before he could retrieve his spear, three more Chis pounced on him, tearing him to pieces in a mont.
A senior Warrior wielded his weapon into a storm of death, shredding any Chis that ca close to bits, but under the focused "attention" of the two Evil Eyes, his joints turned to stone, the weapon slipped from his hand, and he was subsequently overwheld by the swarming Chis.
Inside the cave, a layer of bloody mire ford by the remains of both the Demon Race and Chis rapidly accumulated, the air was thick with the nauseating scent of death.
Covered in Purple Blood, Shou felt his arms as heavy as lead, each swing seed ready to fling his bones out.
Behind him, Qiong held high a dazzling sphere to break Invisibility, continuously throwing potential activation to his companions, waves of dizziness from the intense Magic Power extraction assaulted him, he rely chanically applied another Awakening Technique to himself.
This was a hopeless battle, with only never-ending insects before them.
Just as everyone was about to be ground to dust in this mill of flesh and bone—
"Chi...I...gla..."
A vague voice ca from one of the tunnels, overlapping with layers of strangeness.
Shou couldn’t understand it, thinking it was one of the Chis’ roars, but an old Warrior muttered in confusion: "Humans?"
And then, an even more bizarre phenonon occurred!
The Chis army, which had been attacking frantically and thodically, seed to have been paused!
Whether they were swinging claws, spraying acid, or preparing to beco Invisible, even the two Evil Eyes emitting terrifying pressure, all froze in an instant!
Every movent ca to a halt, even the irritating "screech" noise abruptly stopped!
The entire cave fell into a deathly silence, leaving only the heavy breathing and the dripping of blood.
This sudden quietness was more terrifying than the previous clamor.
"What happened...?"
Opportunity!
So clansn were still bewildered, but Huo Yan reacted imdiately, the despair in his eyes instantly replaced with madness at seizing the last straw!
"Over there!" he roared, using all his strength to swing his blood and flesh-covered hamr towards the weakest point of the insect wall, forcefully tearing open an escape gap!
Without a mont’s hesitation, Shou grabbed the dazed Qiong and charged towards the blood path Huo Yan had cleaved!
He no longer cared about anyone else, only he and Qiong remained of the young who persisted till now.
The two Evil Eyes were the first to "awaken" from their stiffness, their enormous eyeballs emitting pale rays!
The rays cut through the ranks, Shou was lucky enough not to be affected, successfully slipping into the passage.
The other Chis also revived, but no longer with the sa ease as before; so rushed at everyone, clearly unwilling to let go of the prey at hand, yet most of them turned collectively in another direction, Shou seed to hear a distant rumble.
Even though it was just a small portion of Chis, they remained just as lethal to the now less than ten-mber group.
Huo Yan and a few heavily wounded, knowing they couldn’t escape Warriors, turned back to block the narrow cave mouth.
"Go—!"
The sound of shattering carapaces, the Chis’s frenzied screeches, the dull thud of the hamr, the distant rumble...all sounds mixed behind them.
In Shou’s last glance back, he only saw Huo Yan’s blood-soaked figure being completely engulfed by countless Chis.
The dark passage stretched forward, hellish cries behind, Shou bit his teeth hard, dragging the nearly unconscious Qiong continually forward.
When he finally crawled out of the pit, back to the Stone Castle, only Qiong remained beside him.
Nearly all of the tribe’s forces, almost forty of the strongest Warriors...in the end, was it just he and Qiong who returned?
They couldn’t even bring back the shattered Demon Cores of their clansn!
And when he looked at Qiong beside him, more pain swept over, one of Qiong’s hands and a foot no longer visible, only fragnted pieces left by petrification at the edges.
"Qiong..."
Just then—
Click... click... click...
The dense, crisp, hair-raising sound of jointed appendages tapping on stone slabs ca from around them.
The sound approached fast, in no ti their forms encircled the two entirely.
It’s over!
The thought clearly surfaced in Shou’s mind.
With Qiong supported in one hand, he raised the shattered Bone Spear in another, ready to face this final battle.
There was nothing to regret; he had tried his best, only to say that everything was destined from the start when they entered the Stone Castle.
However, the expected attack did not co.
After completing the encirclent, a glowing green Eye Worm drifted over, and simultaneously a voice appeared in both Shou and Qiong’s minds.
"I, love, peace, talk?"
