Zhang Zhentian really was at a loss for words about Old Master Zhang, who does this kind of thing? Isn’t it supposed to be that you forget your mother when you get a wife? How has it turned into forgetting your son when you get a daughter-in-law?
Zhang Zhentian felt totally unbalanced inside. He truly hadn’t expected his old man to be such a grandson-crazy fanatic, to the point where once Xia Jing got pregnant, he didn’t even want his own son anymore. Alas! It looks like harder days are coming...
"How does it feel, huh? Being scolded out of the blue feels great, doesn’t it? Let’s see if you still dare to yell at whenever you feel like it, hmph!" Xia Jing looked at Zhang Zhentian, who was beside himself with frustration, and felt her mood lifting significantly.
"You... you..." Zhang Zhentian was so flustered by Xia Jing that his words ca out in stamrs, pointing at her, he said, "You did that on purpose, didn’t you?"
"Oh? What did I do on purpose? Have I deliberately done anything? Also, don’t you point your finger at from now on, or be careful I’ll go tell daddy you’re bullying !" Ever since Old Master Zhang had given Zhang Zhentian a talking to on behalf of Xia Jing, she had started to turn the tables and bully Zhang Zhentian! While Zhang Zhentian could complain to Old Master Zhang when Xia Jing bullied him, Zhang Zhentian couldn’t go to his own dad when Xia Jing was the bully. Even if he did, his father would definitely side with Xia Jing, not him!
"Forget it, a good man doesn’t fight with a woman, you win!" Zhang Zhentian said with a sour face.
"What do you an a good man doesn’t fight with a woman? It’s clearly because you can’t beat , so you give up, right? And besides, is it that shaful to admit defeat in front of your wife? Why act like you’ve suffered so grave injustice, as if I’m bullying you or sothing!"
Xia Jing didn’t have any ill intentions, but her tone made it hard not to read more into it. Hearing Xia Jing speak like that, Zhang Zhentian felt like she was mocking and taunting him, and he was not pleased at all. He glared at Xia Jing, who saw his eyes go wide and said to him, "Hey, Zhentian, why are your eyes so wide open? Are they uncomfortable? Your staring at with such big eyes is quite flattering!"
Far from being intimidated by Zhang Zhentian’s glare, Xia Jing was teasing him more, leaving Zhang Zhentian unsure of what to do. He was at a point where he couldn’t curse or even complain about Xia Jing, or he would be the one to suffer the consequences. This made Zhang Zhentian feel extrely stifled. He had never been subjected to such treatnt before, and right now, he wished he could stuff a cloth into Xia Jing’s mouth to shut her up. That way, he could enjoy so peace, but at the sa ti, he’d be miserable!
"I’m not talking to you anymore!" After saying this, Zhang Zhentian turned and walked away.
After Zhang Zhentian left, Xia Jing received a phone call from Li Jiayuan, "Sis, what are you up to?"
"Jiayuan, what’s gotten into you to give a call today?" Xia Jing’s attitude towards Li Jiayuan was a complete 180 compared to her attitude towards Zhang Zhentian; she cheerfully spoke to Li Jiayuan.
"I have so good news for you. Let’s et at Star Coffee Shop, don’t miss out!" Li Jiayuan hung up after speaking.
Carrying her shoulder bag, Xia Jing was ready to et Li Jiayuan. Just as she reached the door, Aunt Xu ca over and said, "Xia Jing, where are you going? The elder said you shouldn’t go out recently!"
"Aunt Xu, it’s okay, I’m just going out to buy so things for the baby and to et Jiayuan; I’ll be back in a bit! Don’t worry about , I’m running late; I’ll head off now!" Xia Jing said and then left straight away, afraid that if she stayed even a mont longer, Aunt Xu would not let her go, so she grabbed her bag and rushed out quickly.
"Wow, the air outside is so fresh, I haven’t been out for over a month, and finally, I’m free, oh yeah!" Xia Jing was incredibly happy; for over a month, aside from sleeping, she had been bullied by Zhang Zhentian without having ti to go out and have fun, but now that she could finally get out, she planned to enjoy herself thoroughly before heading back!
Star Coffee Shop.
"Sis, you’re here, take a seat!" Li Jiayuan greeted Xia Jing warmly. Xia Jing was still adjusting to the change; she and Li Jiayuan used to be love rivals, and now here they were sitting peacefully together—it was a drastic change indeed!
"Jiayuan, spill it, what’s the big news that you couldn’t wait to tell until I got out?" Xia Jing’s face was all smiles.
Li Jiayuan saw that Xia Jingyi was always smiling and couldn’t help but ask, "Sis, do you also have so good news? I see you smiling all the ti, share it with !"
"Mine is not important, you should talk about yours first!" Xia Jingyi politely responded to Li Jiayuan.
"Alright, then I’ll go first. Xiao Wei and I are getting married next week!"
"Really? That’s wonderful! It’s about ti you two got married. I’m so happy for you both, and I sincerely wish you a lifeti of happiness together, and that you have children soon!" Xia Jingyi wasn’t just happy for Li Jiayuan but also for Xiao Wei, and she said to Li Jiayuan, "You and Xiao Wei have been through as much as Zhentian and I have, so I hope you’ll both cherish each other!"
"Yes, of course! Okay, I’ve shared my good news. Isn’t it ti you told yours?" Li Jiayuan rembered this and, worried that Xia Jingyi might forget to tell her, promptly took advantage of the mont to ask.
Xia Jingyi gently said to Li Jiayuan, "I’m pregnant!"
"Really?"
"Yes, it’s been confird!"
"Sis, congratulations, congratulations! I was actually hoping you’d give a big red envelope at my wedding, but now let’s forget about it!" Li Jiayuan suddenly lost her nerve.
"Why should we forget about it? Of course, I’m going to give you a big red envelope!" Xia Jingyi didn’t understand why Li Jiayuan suddenly didn’t want a red envelope.
"Think about it, sis. You’re going to give a big red envelope for my wedding next week, right?"
"Right, but what’s the point?"
"After you give a big red envelope, in ten months when your son is born, won’t I need to give you an even bigger one?" Li Jiayuan asked.
"I guess that makes sense!" Xia Jingyi nodded thoughtfully.
"So, it would be better if you didn’t give one at all. That way, when your son is born, I won’t have to give a big red envelope either!" Li Jiayuan believed she was truly brilliant to think of such a plan, and she thought Xia Jingyi should agree, but to her surprise, Xia Jingyi not only disagreed but upped the ante.
"No way, we should keep things separate. I’ll definitely give you your wedding red envelope, and it will be a big one. Then you can give my son an even bigger one. And when your son is born, I’ll give your son a super big red envelope, how about that?" Xia Jingyi again tried to persuade Li Jiayuan.
The silly Li Jiayuan actually agreed, feeling that what Xia Jingyi said made sense and that she herself quite liked the idea.
"Sounds good, let’s agree on that. Well, I should head back now. With the wedding approaching, Xiao Wei and I are swamped. I was going to ask for your help, but now, that seems unnecessary. If your other half found out, I might not even know how I died!" After saying her piece, Li Jiayuan took her leave.
Xia Jingyi checked the ti, felt it was getting late, and headed back ho as well!
