The two of them arrived together at the most famous hotpot restaurant in City A.

"You know, Jiayuan, I’ve already confessed everything, can you please not make go sleep in the guest room?" Xiao Wei blinked his eyes, trying to look pathetic. He foolishly thought that as soon as he was on the verge of tears, Li Jiayuan would easily agree, but her response left Xiao Wei speechless.

"What’s wrong? Actually, the guest room in my house is very comfortable to sleep in, I guarantee after you spend one night there, you won’t want to co back." Li Jiayuan said to Xiao Wei slowly and calmly.

Xiao Wei understood that his act of pretending to be pathetic no longer worked on Li Jiayuan; it seed he would have to think of another way.

"My dear Jiayuan, it’s so boring for to sleep in the guest room all by myself, and you’re not going either. I can’t hold you, and you know, if I can’t hold you while I sleep at night, I’ll feel restless. Please don’t make go to the guest room..." Xiao Wei looked pitifully at Li Jiayuan.

The chopsticks that Li Jiayuan had just picked up were left hanging in mid-air by Xiao Wei’s words.

Li Jiayuan gazed at Xiao Wei, thinking, "Has Xiao Wei lost his mind today? Why is he suddenly spouting all these sweet nothings?"

Although Li Jiayuan didn’t know why Xiao Wei suddenly said those things, she still felt delighted deep down!

Seeing Li Jiayuan’s dazed look, Xiao Wei waved his hand in front of her eyes. Li Jiayuan suddenly looked up and asked, "What are you doing? Since the misunderstanding has already been cleared up, you don’t have to sleep in the guest room!"

When Xiao Wei heard Li Jiayuan say that, he was almost over the moon with joy. The two of them were there, enjoying the delicious hotpot, but little did they know what awaited them back at ho was Li Haixiao’s fury...

"Sweetheart, eat more, you’ve been wronged these past few days, having had to eat those tasteless als I made every day." Xiao Wei picked up a piece of at straight out of the pot for Li Jiayuan. The at was spicy, just to Li Jiayuan’s liking, and he said apologetically to her.

"Honey, don’t say that. In fact, the als you cook are really delicious. It’s just that I haven’t had any spicy food for so long, that’s why I suggested we co out for hotpot. Don’t think that I don’t like the food you make, okay? In my heart, no matter what the als you cook are like, I think they are the best in the world!"

"Jiayuan, at ho I can’t let you eat hotpot or anything too spicy all the ti, especially since Dad can’t eat those things anymore. His health won’t allow it. But if you really want to, I can cook it for you and we don’t have to go out to eat. What do you say?" Xiao Wei suggested to Li Jiayuan.

Li Jiayuan thought Xiao Wei’s suggestion was not bad since eating at ho would be more convenient. However, she was conflicted and said to Xiao Wei, "But if we cook at ho, Dad can’t eat those spicy things. We can’t just make two separate als every ti, can we? It would upset him. He used to love spicy food, but ever since he had kidney problems, the doctor said he must not eat these things. So, let’s not make them at ho anymore!"

Xiao Wei felt that what Li Jiayuan said made a lot of sense. He asked her, "But what if you want to eat it?"

Li Jiayuan thought for a mont and replied to Xiao Wei, "Then I’ll just have to hold back and not eat it. I can’t just go out and eat this stuff all the ti. Besides, eating too much of it isn’t good for the baby either. I will try to restrain myself and not let myself eat these things in the future!"

"Thank you, Jiayuan. Let’s hurry up and eat, after we finish we should head back, Dad is probably waiting for us at ho!" Xiao Wei reminded Li Jiayuan, rembering that morning when Li Haixiao had made him promise to co back early, yet they still hadn’t returned, leaving Li Haixiao anxious.

After finishing their al, they prepared to drive back ho.

"Are you full, my love?"

"Yes, I am. Thank you for taking out for hotpot today, love you to pieces!"

...

The couple continued to chat and laugh on their way ho, but once they got back, the laughter stopped.

An hour later, Li Family ho.

"Dad, Xiao Wei and I are back!" Li Jiayuan rushed towards Li Haixiao as soon as she entered the door, but Li Haixiao turned away, not allowing her to hug him, leaving Li Jiayuan puzzled.

"Dad, what are you doing? I ca to hug you, why are you dodging?"

"Oh, how could I dare to let Miss Li hug this old man? I can’t stand your passionate embrace!" Li Haixiao said to Li Jiayuan with biting sarcasm.

Li Jiayuan didn’t understand why her dad was talking to her with this tone as soon as she got out of the hospital.

"Dad, what’s actually wrong with you, why do you have this attitude as soon as I co ho? I’ve just gotten out of the hospital, can’t you just be happy to welco back?" Li Jiayuan said to Li Haixiao with a gloomy face.

"Do you really want to know why?" Li Haixiao asked Li Jiayuan.

"Yes, just tell !" Li Jiayuan nodded at Li Haixiao, she couldn’t stand her most beloved dad talking to her in that tone.

Xiao Wei stood on the side, looking at Li Haixiao’s expression. His intuition told him it wouldn’t be anything good, and sure enough!

"Alright, then I’ll tell you. I ask you, who let you eat all those hotpots? Don’t you know that pregnant won shouldn’t eat those things, that it can affect the child? Don’t you know that?" Li Haixiao rose from his seat with a slam, startling Li Jiayuan. She couldn’t understand why her dad was making such a big deal out of her eating just one hotpot.

"It was just one hotpot I ate, do you need to overreact and yell at like that?" Li Jiayuan retorted to Li Haixiao.

Li Haixiao didn’t expect Li Jiayuan would talk back to him over this, and similarly, he didn’t expect his old man would lash out at him with biting sarcasm just for eating one hotpot.

"Li Jiayuan, you still don’t realize what you’ve done wrong, do you? Do you even care about this child at all? Can’t you stop acting like you used to, now that you’re a mother? How can you not know what you should and shouldn’t do? Can’t you think about your child before doing anything?" Li Haixiao was also quite angry with Li Jiayuan. He didn’t want his grandson to suffer any harm at all, this was the grandchild he had been longing for!

Li Jiayuan was hurt by Li Haixiao’s words and shouted at him, "Dad, what do you an? Are you saying that the only thing in your eyes, in your heart, is this child? For a child that’s less than a month old, you actually speak to your daughter this way?"

Li Jiayuan and Li Haixiao began to argue. Xiao Wei didn’t want to see them, father and daughter, fighting. He stepped forward and said, "Dad, Jiayuan, both of you cool down. We’re all family here. Why hurt our feelings over such a small matter?"

It would have been better if Xiao Wei hadn’t tried to diate, but his intervention only made the situation worse!

"You shut your mouth!" both parents shouted at Xiao Wei simultaneously, and Xiao Wei imdiately closed his mouth.

"Xiao Wei, is this how you’re supposed to act as a husband? Can’t you take care of her?"

And just like that, the fury was redirected onto Xiao Wei.

"You like going out for hotpots, don’t you? Well, I’ll tell you what, from today onwards, you’ll stay put at ho and not go anywhere. And if I find out anyone has let you out secretly, then don’t bla for being rude!"

Li Haixiao was genuinely angry.

Li Jiayuan, furious, turned and went upstairs, with Xiao Wei promptly following her.

After Li Haixiao had shown his strict side, they felt all this trouble had been caused by the hotpot! Li Jiayuan swore to herself that she would never eat hotpot again — being grounded over a hotpot just wasn’t worth it...
