Ran Zhihan walked alone on the street, like a zombie, devoid of any sensations. The heavy rain poured down, but she silently walked on, completely unaware that it was even raining.
She only knew how much her heart ached, helplessly watching her husband speaking such heartless words to her. She could have resolved this issue in a better way, but why had she acted so impulsively, letting things turn out this way? Why did every action she took fail to earn his praise?
The more she thought, the more heartbroken she beca, realizing that her years of effort had been in vain. If she did not exist in his heart, why force herself to stay by his side? If he was unwilling to spend his life with her, why should she cling on, reducing herself to insignificance?
Ran Zhihan was unaware that, while she was heartbroken, her husband was in his own world of pain. He could see the woman he loved right in front of him but couldn’t let go of his so-called dignity to embrace her deeply and could only watch the woman he had waited for many years walking away, never managing to take that step himself.
Regret and sorrow intertwined, causing imasurable pain in his heart. Wasn’t what he wanted supposed to be different from this? Was he destined to live his life alone?
After his wife left, Zhang Yichen had released Chen Gang; he felt there was no need to keep Chen Gang in his warehouse. If things continued this way, there would be no turning back. Murder was a path of no return; once soone stepped onto this path, there might never be a chance to start afresh. He couldn’t let his grandfather or his son bear the sha of his actions.
He knew well that his family, Wealthy Family, was an illustrious one of scholars. How could it descend into the realm of a murderer?
After Chen Gang was released, he learned that his beloved had left that man. He didn’t know how to feel – perhaps joy, perhaps sadness. Perhaps Providence does reward the sincere. As he walked by the lake, he saw the woman he loved the most. He saw her eyes of despair, and he knew that all of it was because of him – he had ruined her happy life.
"Zhihan, are you alright? I know now, I hadn’t realized my arrival would bring such trouble to your life. I didn’t expect him to say such cruel words to you, and even less did I expect you to choose to leave him, running away from ho all alone. Would you give a chance? I understand this might not be the right ti to say this, but I hope you’ll consider it. I truly love you!"
Ran Zhihan looked up to Chen Gang, and he offered a wry smile. It hurt even more to know that the man before her was responsible for all the outcos. Why did he always pretend to be so innocent in front of her? Did he really believe that he wasn’t the one at fault?
Chen Gang reached out to take Ran Zhihan’s hand, but she brushed his hand aside.
"Chen Gang, are you satisfied now? Because of you, I’ve lost everything I cared about. My family is now in shambles. I have a ho I can’t return to. Even though I have relatives by my side, I can’t embrace them. Are you happy?
You don’t need to tell it wasn’t intentional. I don’t want to know whether it was deliberate or not. What I want to know is how you could bear to ruin my family. I saw you as a good friend and never dread that we could grow old together. Why are you so presumptuous? Do you realize what your actions have brought ? Now, I’ve beco the loneliest person in the world. Do you think I’m not miserable enough? Do you want to go on mocking , harming ?"
