The butler’s words startled Sumr Shawcross, and she looked at her with a hint of surprise on her face.
"Why do you say that?"
Though Mr. Drexler is considered her father-in-law, she had never t him.
"Mr. Drexler was expelled from the family by the old Mr. Drexler before he was even a year old, and he wandered for years with his mother, enduring all the hardships of the world! His mother was already weak and in poor health, struggling even to secure basic needs for herself and her young son. I still rember when Mr. Drexler was five years old; he had a high fever, and his mother, drenched in the rain, knelt at my doorstep, begging to save her child. If it weren’t for my help back then, they both might not have survived! Tell , are the Drexler Family even human!" The butler spoke of the past with anger and distress.
"When his mother fell ill, Mr. Drexler was only a teenager. To save his mother, he took on grueling work ant for adults, his skin tanned dark from the sun’s harshness, and suffered much, yet still couldn’t save her! If back then, the old Mr. Drexler had extended a helping hand, perhaps things wouldn’t have been that way!"
After hearing the butler’s account, Sumr looked extrely shocked, feeling nothing but anger at Mr. Drexler for being unworthy as a father, along with a deep sense of anguish.
She never knew that Noah Drexler had such a difficult childhood.
Everything he endured as a child was beyond anything she could ever imagine.
She couldn’t fathom how he survived those challenging days.
But thinking about it now, his aloof nature, distant from everyone, must have developed from a young age. Living a hard life depending solely on his mother, he surely faced many hardships and scorn. Hence...he developed a strong resilience, relying on no one, facing all challenges alone.
This feeling of solitude and helplessness, she could now understand.
Thinking of this, a wave of heartache surged through Sumr’s heart.
All she wanted at the mont was to rush to his side and stay with him.
As she took a deep breath, overwheld by complex emotions, the butler’s voice rang out again.
"I always thought that the lady endured such hardships because she lost her husband and was left to raise the child alone. But I never expected that after her death, the Drexler family would appear, claiming they wanted to take him back."
"So...did he return to the Drexler Family?" Sumr asked in confusion.
"At that ti, Mr. Drexler was only fourteen, devastated by his mother’s death, and naturally refused to go with those people!"
After a while, Sumr recalled sothing and asked the butler with confusion.
"Then...how did he eventually return to the Drexler Family?"
With how the Drexler Family treated him, given his personality, how could he return to them?
"This part is indeed puzzling to as well. After the lady passed away, Mr. Drexler was deeply grieved, languishing in despair and wandering the streets daily. When I found him several tis, he was always drunk. Moreover, by the ti he was sixteen or seventeen, he had already beco exceptionally handso, attracting the admiration of many local girls... But because of this, he also drew the displeasure of so local hooligans. The worst incident occurred when he was beaten to a bloody ss by them and kindly taken to the hospital with soone else paying for his dical expenses. I was nearly frightened to death when I arrived at the hospital!
