"Of course, if it’s inconvenient for you, that’s okay too. You’re a big star now, and I understand the inconveniences you might face," Mr. Lockwood said without pressuring her.
After hearing Mr. Lockwood’s words, Sumr Shawcross agreed imdiately.
"I have ti tonight, I’ll head over now."
Mr. Lockwood had always treated her like a daughter and helped her whenever he could; she had no reason to refuse him.
In her past life’s failed existence, there weren’t many people like Mr. Lockwood who treated her well. On the contrary, there were many bad people like Dustin Hughes and lanie Trueman who deceived and hard her.
"That’s wonderful. Should I arrange for soone to pick you up?" Mr. Lockwood smiled contentedly when she agreed.
"No need, I’ll head over now," Sumr said, pursing her lips.
She didn’t want to wait here for soone to pick her up, because she didn’t want to stay in this godforsaken place for another second!
Seeing her insist, Mr. Lockwood didn’t press her further.
After ending the call with Mr. Lockwood, Sumr tossed aside the suitcase in her hand, randomly grabbed a bag, stuffed so cash, cards, and her phone inside, and left in a huff.
...
Sumr didn’t ask the family driver to take her to the bar; instead, she had him stop the car on a bustling shopping street where it was easy to catch a taxi, and she took a taxi to the bar.
By the ti she arrived at the bar, the sky had just darkened; it was dinner ti.
Sumr had just walked in when she heard a familiar and friendly voice.
"Sumr, you’re finally here." Mr. Lockwood walked over with a smile on his face.
Sumr paused for a mont, then made an effort to set aside her thoughts about Noah Drexler and smiled.
"I hope I’m not late."
"Of course not, you’re right on ti. We were just about to start dinner. Oh, I forgot to introduce you. This is my son; he just got back from abroad and is planning to take over the managent of this hotel," Mr. Lockwood said, gesturing at a young man standing quietly beside him.
Upon hearing this, Sumr instinctively turned to glance at the man.
The boy’s skin was fair and clean, giving off a good first impression.
"Hello, I’m Shawn Lockwood. I’ve heard your music, and I really like it—it’s very beautiful," the boy said warmly, greeting her.
"Hello..." Sumr also smiled politely.
"Shawn will be staying in Narsus City for his career developnt from now on. You two are around the sa age, so you should have a lot to talk about. You can et more often," Mrs. Lockwood added with a smile.
"It’s about ti. Let’s go inside; everyone is waiting," Mr. Lockwood said with a smile, gesturing for Sumr to enter.
Sumr nodded and followed their family into the bar.
The bar wasn’t open to the public today. The entire hall was set up for a gathering, with a long table in the center adorned with lavish dishes.
Not many people were present tonight; besides a few veteran staff mbers from the bar and the Lockwood family, it was just Sumr.
It felt less like the "business commoration event" Mr. Lockwood ntioned, and more like a family gathering.
"Miss Shawcross, please have a seat!" Shawn Lockwood courteously pulled out a chair for Sumr.
Sumr nodded politely and sat down.
Shawn then took the seat next to her.
...
The Hillside Villa.
The black sedan hadn’t co to a complete stop before the door was opened.
Noah Drexler stepped out of the car and strode towards the villa with his long legs.
