Flipping through Yi Bai’s notebook, Gui Ying raised his brows and comnted, "Interesting. Young lady, you are quite talented."
As Gui Ying enjoyed his ti reading Yi Bai’s secret notes, Bai Hanyun finally noticed Feng Xiyan standing outside the moon gate.
The second she saw him, her eyes lit up and her expression changed.
"Feng Xiyan, you are back," she said, a smile appearing on her lips.
Looking at her smiling face, as radiant as a blooming flower, Feng Xiyan felt as though a soft feather brushed against his heart. It tickled, yet also stirred emotions he could no longer control.
Walking up to Bai Hanyun, Feng Xiyan nodded and gently asked, "Miss Bai, why are you sitting outside? Be careful, you might catch a cold."
Bai Hanyun tilted her head slightly, grinned, and replied with clear joy in her voice, "I was waiting for you to co back."
The mont Feng Xiyan heard this, he froze in place.
Since the execution of his nine clans, Feng Xiyan rarely returned to this mansion. Although Huang Wenping and the servants always waited for his return, they were still only servants, and the distance between them could never be erased.
But Bai Hanyun was different.
She spoke to him as though he were both a friend and a family mber. Hearing that she had waited for him to co ho filled Feng Xiyan with a warmth he had long forgotten.
Coming back to his senses, Feng Xiyan looked at Bai Hanyun and whispered softly, "I’m ho."
Not knowing what he was truly thinking, Bai Hanyun smiled and gently replied, "Welco ho, Feng Xiyan."
She reached for his hand and was startled at how cold it was. "Feng Xiyan, your hand is freezing!"
Before he could react, she clasped his cold left hand, rubbing it gently before trying to warm it with her breath.
Watching her distressed expression, Feng Xiyan’s heartbeat quickened with every second.
Once his hand no longer felt as icy, Bai Hanyun glanced toward the side hall and ordered, "Xiao Cui, prepare a bath for Feng Xiyan. Please be quick."
From the side hall, Xiao Cui stepped forward, bent her knees slightly, and responded, "Yes, Miss Bai."
After she left to fetch hot water, Bai Hanyun took the paper oil umbrella from Feng Xiyan’s hand. Placing it by the wall, she pulled him inside and said, "Let’s go in first. We need to warm you up."
"Mhm." Feng Xiyan followed obediently, his eyes fixed on their interlocked hands.
On the rooftop, Gui Ying clicked his tongue and muttered in amusent, "Tsk, so sweet. This young master is going to get diabetes."
After comnting, he tapped Yi Bai’s ridians with his folding fan and tossed her notebook back. With a playful smile tugging at his red lips, he ordered, "Write it down."
Unable to resist, and knowing she couldn’t defeat him anyway, Yi Bai obediently began recording the scene she had just witnessed.
While she wrote seriously, Gui Ying peeked over her shoulder, his voice carrying a note of satisfaction.
"Young lady, you are truly talented. Why not resign from your current job and join this young master? We could open a bookstore and publish this interesting story."
Yi Bai shot him a cold glance and flatly rejected him. "No, thank you."
Unbothered by her cold rejection, Gui Ying remained cheerful.
"The Great General Feng truly is an extraordinary man to have so many loyal subordinates. This young master really admires him," he said, looking amused.
Yi Bai ignored him and continued to focus on her writing.
anwhile, Bai Hanyun was carefully drying Feng Xiyan’s long black hair with a towel.
As she dabbed at it, she muttered, "This cloth is useless as a towel. It can’t even absorb water properly."
Watching her fuss over him while thinking about what daily necessities she should buy later after she returns to her world, Feng Xiyan’s eyes dimd slightly.
Noticing the subtle shift in his mood, Bai Hanyun looked up and asked, "What’s wrong? Why do you look unhappy?"
Surprised that she noticed the change in his mood, Feng Xiyan clenched his fists and forced a smile. "I’m not unhappy."
Not believing him, Bai Hanyun narrowed her eyes and said in a warning tone, "Feng Xiyan, I hate liars. Tell the truth. Why are you unhappy?"
Panicked and afraid she would hate him, Feng Xiyan blurted out, "I—I didn’t want you to leave."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun’s hand froze, and she looked at him in surprise.
Feng Xiyan lowered his eyes, not daring to et her surprised gaze.
After a mont of silence, Bai Hanyun smiled and gently cupped his cheek. "Feng Xiyan, look at ."
Not wanting to anger her, he obediently lifted his eyes.
Seeing the sadness and reluctance in them, Bai Hanyun said firmly, "I won’t abandon you. I truly like this place. I will co back, and we will still be able to talk like this."
Her words made Feng Xiyan’s heart skip a beat, filling him with wild hope and expectation. Taking a shaky breath, he asked, "Miss Bai, will you stay longer and spend more ti with ?"
Bai Hanyun smiled, nodded, and gently replied, "Yes. I like to spend ti with you."
Her clear eyes reflected his image, leaving him dazed.
When Xiao Cui and the maidservants entered with buckets of hot water, they paused at the sight before them.
Xiao Cui smiled knowingly, signaled the maidservants, and they quietly waited outside.
Watching the rain, she thought to herself, ’I hope Young Master and Miss Bai can stay together for a long, long ti, and live happily ever after. If they have a son or daughter, then I can help take care of their children. Just thinking about it makes so happy.’
While Xiao Cui was lost in her thoughts, Bai Hanyun released Feng Xiyan’s face and resud drying his hair.
Glancing at the open door, she muttered, "Why hasn’t the hot water co yet? You will catch a cold if you keep wearing wet clothes."
Feng Xiyan gazed at her worried face and softly replied, "It takes ti to boil the water."
