Not knowing what was on Feng Xiyan’s mind, Bai Hanyun was looking forward to seeing the current condition of the imperial palace of the Jin Empire.
Rubbing her chin, Bai Hanyun thought expectantly, ’After the explosion last ti, I wonder what the imperial palace looks like now. Maybe I can take this opportunity to investigate the mastermind behind the golden barrier.’
Having made her decision, Bai Hanyun suppressed her excitent and waited patiently.
After walking for almost an hour, the group had already passed three gates, reaching the center of the outer palace area.
Opening a small gap in the cloth covering the iron cage, Bai Hanyun looked outside.
To her surprise, the destroyed imperial palace had been fully restored. Although it was not as magnificent as before, there were no ruins in sight.

When Feng Xiyan heard this, he looked down. After pondering for a few seconds, he suddenly hugged the air in front of him.
Startled by his action, Bai Hanyun asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"
Feng Xiyan snuggled into the curve of her neck and whispered gently, "It’s easier for to know where you are if I hug you."
Bai Hanyun scratched her cheek and thought, ’I feel like he’s talking nonsense, but I have no evidence.’
Not getting her response, Feng Xiyan asked, "Yun’er, what’s wrong?"
Knowing that he couldn’t see her, Bai Hanyun replied, "Nothing."
Patting the arms wrapped around her waist, Bai Hanyun said, "Look outside."
Feng Xiyan followed her words and waited for her to continue.
Seeing this, Bai Hanyun went on, "The last ti we ca to assassinate the Jin Emperor, we destroyed this imperial palace into ruins. But now, it looks like nothing ever happened. Don’t you think this Jin Empire is very strong and wealthy?"
Feng Xiyan observed the surroundings thoughtfully, then frowned slightly.
"Based on the information we have gathered so far, the Jin Empire shouldn’t have the power or resources to rebuild its imperial palace from ruins in such a short ti."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun’s eyes flickered for a mont. "I think so too. To build an imperial palace at this scale, it would take at least a few years."
Sensing a deeper aning in her words, Feng Xiyan asked, "Yun’er, do you suspect that soone is helping the Jin Empire from the shadows?"
Bai Hanyun nodded, then rembered he couldn’t see her and replied, "Yes."
Listening to her confident tone, Feng Xiyan said, "You know who is helping them."
"Mhm." Bai Hanyun confird. After a brief pause, she added, "It should be the mastermind who built the barrier here—the one who injured the Yin Yang Mirrors."
The mont she said this, Feng Xiyan’s expression turned serious.
After a longer mont of silence, he said in a low voice, "If the one behind the Jin Empire is really the mastermind, then things might get far more complicated—and dangerous—than we thought."
"That’s right." Bai Hanyun lowered her voice and continued, "Feng Xiyan, I plan to investigate this place further."
Feng Xiyan shook his head. "No. It’s too dangerous for you to go alone."
Patting his arms, Bai Hanyun said, "Don’t worry. I will ask for Gui Ying’s help. He is very suitable for dealing with this kind of taphysical problem."
Knowing that her suggestion was the best plan for now, Feng Xiyan let out a long, helpless sigh.
Tightening his arms around her, he whispered, "I really don’t want you to face danger. If I could leave, I would accompany you."
Bai Hanyun smiled when she heard this. Leaning back, she pulled Feng Xiyan down and kissed him.
Feeling her soft lips on his, Feng Xiyan’s eyes flickered. He reached up, grabbed the back of Bai Hanyun’s neck, and deepened the kiss.
Frowning slightly at the sight of him kissing empty air, Feng Xiyan closed his eyes.
While the two of them were sharing this intimate mont, outside the iron cage, the Ninth Prince turned to Wu Ruizhan and said, "Great General Wu, please wait here. This prince will go inside and report to His Majesty first."
Clasping his fists, Wu Ruizhan responded, "Yes, Ninth Prince."
Seeing his obedience, the Ninth Prince nodded in satisfaction and climbed the long stairs toward the Hall of Benevolence.
Sitting in the sedan chair, Jin Cen exchanged looks with Shi Yixi, who was standing beside him.
Receiving his signal, Shi Yixi nodded.
Watching their exchange, Wu Ruizhan thought, ’Looks like Jin Cen plans to do sothing later. Maybe we can use him to deal with the new emperor and the Ninth Prince.’
While everyone was occupied with their own thoughts, Jin Yan grew impatient waiting outside.
Looking up at the sun, which slanted slightly to the west, she complained, "It’s so hot here. This princess is tired and thirsty."
