Mr. Haines misunderstood
“Do you want it, Liza?”
“No. It looked like sothing Sister Claire would like… But I might drop it…”
“Haha. Well, it would break if you did that. I see. So you think it would be good…”
It was her opinion, and I wanted to respect it. But…
Perhaps she had better taste than I did.
Hmm? I turned to the side and saw that Mr. Haines was shaking.
“M-Mr. Takumi! Did I hear that correctly…?”
“Huh? Ah, yes. I am here to buy a present for Claire… Didn’t I tell you?”
“You did not! Just that you need a vase in order to place flowers in the house…”
I suppose I hadn’t explained it to him.
Well, this was a general goods store, and I was just here as an ordinary custor. So there was no need to tell him that.
“A gift for Lady Claire…from Mr. Takumi… So it is finally happening. How wonderful!”
“Eh?”
“I’m sure the whole town will celebrate the news. Well, then. While this is but a humble store, I will do my best to choose the most appropriate gift.”
Mr. Haines said with a bright smile.
I wasn’t quite sure what he was talking about now.
“Uh…what does he an?”
As Mr. Haines was too distracted looking at the vases, I asked one of the nearby employees.
I was then told that he was going to help choose the right item to be used in my proposal of marriage.
Wait, wait, wait. That was a step farther than I was thinking at the mont!
I was not that kind of impulsive person. Not at all like Ms. Anneliese!
Besides, I wanted to choose the gift, not have Mr. Haines do it for …
“M-Mr. Haines! Pl-please wait! You misunderstood !”
He was starting to talk about just sending all of the bases to her as a gift, and so I had to stop him frantically and explain.
Mr. Haines and the employee were terribly disappointed.
I had once heard that so of the rchants around Ractos had been speculating about us eventually… So it wasn’t just him.
“Hmm… This…”
Once things had cald down again, a certain vase caught my eye.
“This one might be good… Mr. Haines. Would you mind if I held this one in my hands?”
“Not at all. Go on ahead.”
And so I picked it up for a closer look.
It was white and long, similar to the one that Liza liked. But not quite as narrow.
The opening was about twenty centiters… Also, it had a rippling pattern on it.
“It’s simple, but that’s better for drawing attention to the flowers. What do you think, Liza?”
“Hmm? Ahh!”
Her eyes widened and she gasped with delight.
Yes, she liked it too.
“Alright, I’ll take this one, Mr. Haines.”
“Certainly. Thank you. I will have it wrapped up right away…”
“Thank you.”
“And we will wrap it up extravagantly for Lady Claire!”
“That won’t be necessary!”
As I was going to give it to her with flowers, there was no point in fancy wrappings. Well, perhaps a ribbon tied around it would be fine?
