The colors were bold and clear, and they shone brightly around her neck.

She lowered her hand, which had been holding the necklace up for inspection. And then she raised her head to look at .

“What you said earlier. It really was from the heart?”

“Of-of course. Every word I said to you. They really were from the bottom of my heart…”

“Claire?”

“No. Excuse .”

She averted her eyes.

“The vase and flowers. And this necklace. But more than anything…your words are a wonderful present.”
