The answer was a villainous group
“Ah, could it be…?”
“Mr. Takumi?”
“You know…Claire. Ms. Isabelle talked about it. A rumor in the town.”
“Isabelle… Ah!”
“Have you guessed it now?”
Mr. Euto was grinning at now.
Ms. Isabelle had ntioned a group that was gathering wolves…
And when Deurgo had made Volgrau his familiar, he had been helped by soone else.
And Deurgo had hoped that he would eventually be able to capture a fenrir as well.
In other words…
“You were investigating a group of people…who were in the forest, trying to make fenrirs their familiars?”
“Hmmm. Close. Though, there was a group who wanted to do that…”
“…Then, it was a group of people who had a fenrir familiar. And they were commanding wolves?”
“Correct! Well, almost correct…”
Apparently, I was wrong while Claire’s guess was almost right.
“Lord Euto, don’t you think you should tell them already?”
“Whoops. That’s enough fun for now then. Alright, the answer… There was a group who was capturing wolves, forcing them to beco familiars, and then training them.”
So it was basically the sa thing that Deurgo was doing.
If it was just training, then it would not be a bad thing.
Sherry was trained by Leo… Well, that was so she would lose weight.
But Riruru would also train her and teach her how to hunt monsters.
However, it was also because Sherry agreed to it.
But if these wolves were being forced to beco familiars, then they clearly did not have any freedom.
“People are allowed to make monsters their familiars. And that includes fenrirs. However, you cannot do it by force. Also, while it seems they stayed away from towns, due to the guards…they did attack rchant caravans.”
“They had wolves…attack rchants?”
“Yes. And while training the wolves, they began to start targeting fenrirs.”
If they were able to capture wolves, then they had to be pretty skilled.
“To use wolves for sothing like that…”
Claire looked down and clenched her fists. After the incident with Volgrau, and spending so much ti with Sherry, Leo and the fenrirs, it was difficult not to be angry.
Even I was gritting my teeth.
“Please calm down, Lady Claire. I understand how you feel… After seeing how calm the fenrirs are while they run with us.”
“Yes…”
Ms. Lugretta held Claire’s hand as she sighed.
While she was still a little scared of them, she did not hate the fenrirs.
“Well, wolves do tend to attack humans on their own… But here, they are being used. And so this group cannot be ignored. So that’s why I went… It would be faster than sending the guards. Besides, I didn’t want them to get hurt.”
He had the Gift and magic that was suited for combat, so he would be able to deal with the matter quickly.
“I…didn’t know…that sothing like that was happening so close to the mansion…in the forest just south of Ractos…”
Claire muttered angrily.
Both she and Sebastian were entrusted in taking care of this area, so she likely regretted not finding out about it sooner.
I gently put my hand on Claire’s back.
Perhaps there had not been enough ti. But I did wonder if there wasn’t sothing we could have done…
