Three hours later, the car stopped in front of a private clinic in Rui City.
Gu Ming parked the car and gently reminded through the rear-view mirror, “Mr. Li, we’ve arrived.”
He ignored the person beside him, but Chu Xi didn’t seem offended, as if she didn’t notice Gu Ming hadn’t called her, she pulled the car door open and got out first.
Today, she wore a crimson long dress that fell just to her ankles, revealing a slender and well-proportioned ankle. The crimson color made her delicate skin appear even more porcelain-like. Although she didn’t reveal much, that glimpse of her ankle was dazzlingly eye-catching.
Gu Ming withdrew his gaze and became even more cautious, subtly moving in front of her to block her from the man who had just exited the car.
“Mr. Li, Miss Rong should be awake by now. Should I send her a message?”
He purposely mentioned Rong Yan in front of Chu Xi.
A hint of darkness flashed in Chu Xi’s eyes as she stood there, taking the initiative and said, “Perfect, I’ll make a call to Doctor Susan to see if she’s here.”
Gu Ming replied, “We’ve already reached Rui City, and Miss Chu you’re not sure if the doctor is here?”
He didn’t understand why the president decided to e to Rui City alone with Miss Chu, but he vaguely knew that the president suffered from migraines and was likely here for treatment.
Otherwise, he couldn’t think of any reason why the president would e to Rui City specifically with Miss Chu.
Suppressing her displeasure from the questioning, Chu Xi explained, “Doctor Susan’s trip to Zeka was private, not a clinic session. Even if she previously agreed to see a patient for me, it doesn’t mean she would wait here for us. Moreover, our arrival was sudden; it’s normal if she isn’t here. If that’s the case, we’ll have to wait inside first.”
Gu Ming wanted to say something else but held back. Although he did not question Chu Xi further after her explanation, his wariness towards her was evident.
Chu Xi grew increasingly annoyed, yet due to Li Shengxiao’s presence, she refrained from showing it. She took out her phone and started making a call.
Li Shengxiao, as if oblivious to the tension between them, looked down to send a message, then put away his phone and said, “Well, since we’re here, let’s go in.”
Gu Ming realized those words were meant for him and felt somewhat aggrieved, glancing reluctantly in Chu Xi’s direction.
Just then, Chu Xi finished her call, and her gaze met his midway before swiftly shifting away, she smiled and said to the dashing man, “Mr. Li, Susan is inside; I just confirmed it with her over the phone.”
“Okay,” Li Shengxiao replied indifferently, stepping ahead to lead the way.
Gu Ming closely followed behind, subtly distancing the two once again.
Chu Xi intended to walk beside Li Shengxiao, but being squeezed out by Gu Ming, making it inappropriate to move closer, she had to walk slightly behind the two men. From certain angles, it seemed as though she and Li Shengxiao were shoulder to shoulder.

After the research institute relocated, these confidential equipment weren’t moved. Susan came from Mema specifically to use one of the machines here to experiment with her research findings.”
