“Okay,” Rong Yan wasn’t in a hurry to leave. While the clerk was packing for her, she idly looked around out of boredom and suddenly noticed a glass box displayed on the shelf.
“What is this…”
“Oh, that? That’s our store’s homemade peanut candy. Our store owner personally makes it, and it’s a type of candy from his hometown. The clerk had finished packaging the cake and was enthusiastically introducing it.
Their store’s cakes were expensive, and the customers who came here to buy cakes were either wealthy or prestigious. Buying the exquisite cakes was acceptable, but few were interested in the inconspicuous peanut candy placed in the corner.
The store manager was also stubborn, insisting on not discounting the lesser-known candy even if it didn’t sell. Instead, he set the price of the peanut candy even higher than the cakes, which made it sell even less.
Even if occasionally one or two customers would inquire out of curiosity, after hearing the price, most would silently put it back.
The clerk didn’t know if Rong Yan had any intention of buying but still hoped for a sale, working hard to persuade her, “Moreover, this candy is pletely handmade and natural; there are no added flavorings or preservatives, and even the peanuts inside are personally selected by our store manager from the market, only the best quality. Rong Yan didn’t take the exaggerating words to heart, simply intrigued by the unfamiliar candy. She looked up, interrupting the passionate sales pitch, “How much for one jar?”
Caught off guard, the clerk looked into a pair of beautiful eyes and paused, “Two… two hundred.”

Why did these eyes look so familiar?
Where had she seen them?
“Two hundred?” Rong Yan didn’t expect the small jar of candy in her hand to be more expensive than a Black Forest cake, frowning in surprise.
The clerk couldn’t remember where she had seen her, refocusing on making the sale, “It is a bit pricey, mainly because it’s difficult to make this candy; it’s a particularly tedious process, even more so than making a cake, so it’s a little expensive. The clerk, not expecting to make the sale, brightened, fearing she might change her mind, “Please wait, I’ll package it for you right away.”
Damn, her luck was too good. The last jar of peanut candy, which had been labeled unsellable, was actually sold by her. Haha, that was enough to boast about for the whole day.
Unaware of the clerk’s thoughts, Rong Yan took out her wallet, ready to pay.
Just then, the wind chimes on the cake shop’s door jingled as a new customer entered. She turned her head listlessly and saw a familiar figure walking in.
“Madam, be careful.”
