Rong Yan soaked herself in the hot water, and her tired body finally relaxed a little. She couldn’t help but linger a bit longer in the warm bathtub.
After her bath, she washed her hair, used the hairdryer in the bathroom to dry it, tied it into a neat little bun, and washed her face. Her groggy head felt much lighter.
When she changed into new clothes and walked out of the bathroom, she found that more people had entered the room. The maid who had brought her clothes earlier was nowhere to be seen, replaced by several men.
"Finished with your bath?"
The man sitting in the center, who had spoken up to help her, asked gently.
The others stared at her with curious eyes, as if her presence was something miraculous.
Rong Yan moved forward and said nervously, "Thank you for helping me just now."
After cleaning up, her porcelain skin looked even more delicate, and her fair little face bore an even closer resemblance to someone.
Chu Aotian’s gaze softened significantly, and he said gently, "No worries, it was just a small gesture. I’ve already talked to them; they won’t trouble you anymore, so you don’t have to worry. When we reach the dock, I’ll help you contact your family to arrange for someone to bring you back home."
Rong Yan let out a sigh of relief, looked up at him with bright eyes, and realized he was not young. His mature face was sharply defined, with sharp brows and clear, pure eyes. He exuded an aura of kind acceptance, contrary to the difficult-to-approach image she had imagined. Instead, he felt more like a gentle elder, calm, reliable, and very reassuring.
"Thank you." Besides expressing gratitude, Rong Yan didn’t know what else to say. She bit her lip and asked cautiously, "How should I address you?"
Chu Aotian’s features softened, "My surname is Nie, just call me Mr. Nie."
He used the alias Nie Chutian when outside.
Rong Yan nodded and sweetly called out, "Mr. Nie, my name is Rong Yan."
"I don’t know how to express my gratitude for your assistance this time. If it’s possible, please allow me to host you the next time you visit Hua Country."
Chu Aotian waved it off nonchalantly, "As I said, it was just a small favor. You don’t need to take it to heart."
"By the way, you don’t look so well. Are you feeling unwell?"
Rong Yan hesitated before speaking, "...Yes, I have a bit of a fever. Could I have a fever-reducing pill?"
"You have a fever?" Chu Aotian’s eyes showed surprise. No wonder her face looked unusually flushed when he found her earlier; he had thought it was out of fear. He didn’t realize it was because she was feverish.
She managed to escape from the mercenaries while having a fever; she’s smarter than he imagined.
"I’m sorry I didn’t notice you were sick."
"Hans, find a doctor to check on Miss Rong."
A young man suddenly appeared by his side, hands hanging in front and head lowered, responding quietly, "Yes."
Rong Yan froze for a moment before waving her hands to decline politely, "Mr. Nie, there’s no need for such trouble. It’s just a mild fever; a fever-reducing pill will do. You don’t have to specially find a doctor for me."
Chu Aotian’s hard facial features were softened by the light. His expression was gentle as he stopped Rong Yan from refusing, "Young ladies should take good care of their health. If you’re not careful when you’re young, you might have to deal with the consequences when you’re older. This is something my wife told me, and I think you should heed this advice."
