Her mother tugged at her sleeve, whispering in her ear, “Lily, what’s with Principal Lan? Do you know that woman? What is an idol? A celebrity? Is that woman a female celebrity? Is she the principal’s daughter or her fan?”
The Old Madam discontentedly scoffed, “What about a female celebrity? Our family donated money to build a library for the school. Principal Lan wouldn’t disrespect our family for a celebrity, would he? I really don’t understand what’s so great about those stars. Back in our day, those women were just performers on stage; any rich gentleman could take them home for a night if they fancied them!”
She changed her mind slightly, feeling worried, and asked her daughter, “Lily, do you think the principal might be interested in her?”
That would never do.
That woman, at first glance, had a face like a fox spirit, seductive enough to make men lose their senses. If the principal got enchanted by her, what about Dabao’s issue!
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became, not even noticing her daughter’s sallow face. Unwillingly, she interrupted the principal, “Principal Lan, aren’t you forgetting something? Look, the child is still bleeding.”
The little chubby boy cooperatively covered his mouth, squeezed out a few crocodile tears, tugged at his mother’s pants, and wailed, “Wah, my mouth hurts, mom, I’m going to be disfigured.”
Rong Yan looked at him with his sniveling face and then glanced at her own Little Baby, who appeared noble and calm; she really couldn’t associate the word ‘disfigured’ with him!
The wealthy lady, seeing the situation, felt her legs weaken, not daring to make a scene. Rong Yan only glanced at her once, and she felt it was a warning.
She nervously pulled at the little chubby boy and scolded, “What nonsense are you spouting? Where’s the disfigurement? It’s just a lost tooth, and you’re changing teeth anyway. That tooth would have fallen out sooner or later. You’re a man, yet you cry over such a small matter? Enough, don’t cry!”
The little chubby boy was spoiled by his family, growing into an unruly character. Otherwise, he wouldn’t easily get into fights at school. Seeing his mother acting differently, he stood there in a daze, “Mom, what’s wrong with you?”
The wealthy lady felt flustered, “What’s wrong with me?”
The kid, being young and not knowing what should or shouldn’t be said, bluntly stated, “My tooth fell out, and not only are you not avenging me, you’re scolding me. You weren’t like this before. Didn’t grandma tell you to e and get that pretty boy expelled? Why aren’t you telling the principal?”
The wealthy lady shivered, eyes wide with anger, more nervous than anyone, and immediately hugged him, “What expulsion? I never said anything like that. You’re just a kid, don’t learn nonsense from others.”
“But grandma said you should ask the principal to expel the pretty boy who hit me and to make his parents apologize to me.”
The Old Madam also didn’t understand why she changed her mind at the last moment, “Lily, what are you doing? Dabao got beaten, yet you’re speaking for them. Is it because she’s a public figure and you’re afraid she’d spread rumors outside?”
“It’s a fact our kid lost a tooth. Their kid hit ours. We’re not wrong to seek justice. If she dares to talk outside, our family isn’t easily bullied!”
The wealthy lady was on the verge of tears and quickly called to her, “Mom, please say no more.”
The Old Madam was displeased and retorted, “What’s with you today, behaving so strangely? Is Dabao not your son anymore? What are you afraid of?”
