"Bring the injured to . Soone, check on the left side, people need help there."

"We’re covering the right side. There are a few rats that managed to slip by—"

Rin looked at his busy surroundings and he quickly turned to bark orders. Those who heard him nodded and followed his instructions.

[Ability ’Leader’ is in effect.]

The efficiency of those around Rin had increased due to his skill, but the sheer number of these rats was not sothing he expected.

Rin had been confident that he would be able to handle these rats until they started to appear in hordes.

’Has the difficulty of this task increased? Or was I mistaken about its difficulty compared to earlier?’

Everyone was growing exhausted because the rats kept coming. But there was no ti to rest. There were only a few hours left before the task ended. People needed to keep pushing until then.

"Sir, we can handle things here. You should take so rest. Your complexion is looking pale and lifeless."

Collin said with a concerned expression.

Rin gave a hollow laugh as he looked at the system. His exhaustion levels had started to rise slowly.

[Current exhaustion level: 20% (-40%)]

"I will be fine. But since you are offering to cover this area, I’ll check the other side. Alia, Reina, I am counting on you to take care of our people."

"Hey, don’t do reckless things-"

Reina started to scold him, but Rin had already walked off before she even finished. His indifference made Reina grit her teeth and she went back to helping her patients.

Alia’s eyes looked concerned as well, but she chose not to speak.

However, there was one person who disregarded his duties and decided to follow Rin. And that was Albus.

Albus noticed Rin slipping away and after a quick look at the battlefield, decided to join Rin.

"Hey boss, I saw you sneaking around and decided to join you. I can’t have you die on so soon."

It was tough to tell if Albus was joking or serious. But since his voice contained a laugh, Rin took his words as a joke but he decided to keep his guard up.

"I am heading out to check on the internal storage. I left a guard there, but I am still worried about the security. This place is far too big for one person to guard."

The storage spanned over 500-square-ter space.. That was why Rin had told Myth to guard the granary instead of the whole space. But there was other important stuff that could be damaged by the rodents that Rin wanted to take a look at.

Albus did not ask any questionss and followed Rin. They imdiately noticed the piles of monsters outside the main gate. They were scratching at the door, trying to get past simple security.

"There are so many monsters here. It will take so ti to clear them all—"

"Get out of my way."

Ti was sothing Rin did not have. So he imdiately took out his bombs and loaded them into a bomb launcher. He had specifically enhanced this to perfect his aim.

Moreover, he had reduced the destructive power of his bombs to focus more on the side effects.

The monsters froze as soon as the bombs exploded around them before the status effect started to kick in. Then, the monsters started to collapse one by one until their bodies piled up outside the door.

"W-What happened?"

Albus asked in a shocked voice. He had never seen sothing like this in his life. And that was because no one like Rin had existed until now and there likely won’t be another.

Rin lacked most offensive stats so it was hard for him to survive alone. Most people with unique skills like his won’t make it too far. They would either die trying to survive or get taken advantage of.

’Hmm, maybe I should actively look for more people with a unique skill set. They can co in handy.’

Rin made a ntal note before he stepped over the bodies and checked the storage. It was still locked tight and no one had slipped inside.

That only left the granaries to check and Rin imdiately headed toward that section.

Albus followed but tensed and imdiately looked into the air (at his system). His eyes widened and he imdiately pushed Rin behind him to protect him.

"I can feel a strong force here. Sir Rin, stay behind so that I can keep you safe-"

"It’s fine. The force you are feeling is my familiar’s presence. He won’t hurt ."

No sooner had Rin finished speaking, Myth appeared. Myth was the sa size as a small car at the mont and its body was all sleek but powerful muscles. Satisfaction rolled off its body as it rumbled in greeting and pleasure.

[Your familiar is pleased to see you. It is demanding affection from you]

Myth rubbed its strong body against Rin’s before turning and growling at Albus.

"Hey, it’s fine. Albus is a companion here to keep safe. There is no need to be on guard against him."

Rin assured but Myth did not look away from the protagonist.

After glaring for another minute, Myth finally grabbed Rin’s shirt and started to drag him inside. Rin had no choice but to follow the car-sized cat.

His familiar took him inside the cleared granary and Rin noticed the monsters pacing outside the building, too afraid to co in due to Myth’s presence.

The huge cat headbutted Rin once more and Rin patted its head to show his affection.

"You are doing great. Continue like this for a few hours more and I will give you the best al I can offer."

Myth beca even more enthusiastic after hearing this and Rin watched with a smile as he kept the monsters at bay.

"Sir, how did you get a monster that is strong under your control?"

Albus asked in a strained voice. It was weird for Rin to see him at such a loss for words as well. Especially since he was the one who usually left people speechless.

"It just...happened? It was more luck than anything that allowed to et Myth. but luck is not sothing I can rely on forever. That’s why, I am aiming to build my skills over ti as well."

Albus’s eyes darkened and he nodded.

"You are right. Skill is the most important thing for survival."
