"Wu Dao, you’re talking nonsense, if it weren’t for my grandfather saving Grandpa Wu’s life, would the Wu Family be where they are today?"
Hao Jian angrily stared at Wu Dao, crying and shouting, "Grandpa Wu, you must save no matter what, I’m the only one left in the Hao Family now. If you don’t save , the Hao Family will have no successors. How can you face my deceased grandfather?"
"Sigh!"
The old man of the Wu Family kept sighing, his mind in turmoil, not knowing what to do.
"Hey, Long brother, Hao Jian and the Hao Family have already returned to the Long Family. Now that he’s in trouble, why are you staying silent?"
Su Tianyu looked playfully at Long Aiyu.
"Hmph, he deserves it, and Tang Ming’s attitude is clear enough. I don’t want to stick my neck out for this kind of trash."
Long Aiyu snorted coldly, stood up, and walked out.
"Truly a heartless person, how could we be on the sa side with such people?"
Lin Qingfeng cursed with a look of disdain.
"Things have co to this, one can only say soone brought this upon themselves, deserved it."
Su Tianyu glanced coldly at Hao Jian and then got up to leave the eting room.
In the blink of an eye, there were only the Wu Family father and son and Hao Jian left in the eting room.
"Let’s go too."
Wu Dao supported the old man of the Wu Family, too lazy even to look at Hao Jian.
"Grandpa Wu, you can’t leave, you must find a way to save ."
Hao Jian hurriedly grabbed onto the old man’s leg, crying for help.
"You, cherish these next three days, soone needs to take care of the aftermath of the Hao Family."
The old man of the Wu Family sighed, biting his teeth he said, "I will try my best to find a way to save you, but whether it will be effective, only the heavens will know."
With those words, the old man cruelly pushed Hao Jian away and, supported by Wu Dao, walked out.
"Is it really over?"
Hao Jian’s face turned pale, ashen, though now free, Tang Ming had already poisoned him with sothing he would surely die from in three days. With Tang Ming’s ans, he would not threaten him idly.
A eting ended on a bad note.
Lin Qingfeng and Su Tianyu returned ho, imdiately mobilizing forces in anticipation of the coming battle, and the Dark Group began to move.
After Hao Jian left headquarters, he didn’t run away nor did he handle the aftermath of the Hao Family as instructed by the old man. Instead, he plunged into a famous high-end club in the Imperial City, indulging in the final pleasures of alcohol and sex.
Upon returning to the Wu Family, the old man fell sick.
Wu Dao looked at the old man lying on the bed, heart aching, advising, "Father, there’s no need to be so upset over that beast Hao Jian, this is all his own doing, no one else is to bla."
"I know he deserves to die, but he’s the only descendant of old Hao now. If he truly dies, how can I face my old comrade in the afterlife?"
The old man closed his eyes in pain, gritting his teeth, "If I had known it would co to this, it would have been better to let die back then, it’s retribution."
"Dad, you must take care of yourself."
Su Tianyu hurriedly consoled the old man, "All these years, our Wu Family has taken good care of the Hao Family in repaying Uncle Hao for saving you, and you see the state Tang Ming is in. He was horribly disfigured and lost a senior Two-star Martial General, anyone would be unlikely to let Hao Jian go."
"But my conscience still feels uneasy. No, I must save Hao Jian’s life at all costs."
The old man struggled to sit up, sorrowfully saying, "Go bring Xiaoyu here?"
"Dad, what are you planning?"
Hearing this, Wu Dao’s face changed.
"Now there’s only one person who can change Tang Ming’s mind, only if Xiaoyu pleads with Tang Ming might he change his decision."
The old man gritted his teeth and spoke.
"This... no, absolutely not."
Wu Dao hurriedly shook his head, fearing, "The relationship between Xiaoyu and Tang Ming has just eased. If you send Xiaoyu, even if she can change Tang Ming’s decision, it will surely leave a rift between them, hurting Xiaoyu once again."
"I know it’s unfair to Xiaoyu, but I have no other choice but to ask her to step in."
The old man sighed helplessly.
"But you can’t sacrifice Xiaoyu’s happiness to save that ingrate!"
Wu Dao grew agitated, shouting sadly, "If Xiaoyu is triggered by this and recalls past events, her life will be ruined."
"If only she weren’t my granddaughter, if it cos to that, I’m willing to apologize to her."
The old man sighed painfully.
"Dad, you’re being too selfish."
Wu Dao’s eyes reddened as he shouted, "To repay Uncle Hao’s kindness, must Xiaoyu endure pain?"
"Is there any other choice?"
The old man’s coughing grew severe, "Our Wu Family has always been just. If not for old Hao saving my life back then, I’d be dead. Now how can I just watch the Hao Family’s only descendant perish?"
"But you..."
"Do you expect to kneel and beg you?"
The old man looked sorrowfully at Wu Dao.
"Your child dare not, but this ti you’re too selfish."
Wu Dao gritted his teeth, reluctantly saying, "I can call Xiaoyu, but... but you are not worthy of being her grandfather anymore."
"You, suit yourself, as long as Hao Jian’s life can be saved, I don’t care if I die."
The old man painfully closed his eyes, if there was any other way, he wouldn’t let Wu Xiaoyu take the risk.
"Fine, I’ll go call Xiaoyu now."
Wu Dao wiped his eyes, his face filled with pain.
"No need, I’m here."
Just then, Wu Xiaoyu pushed open the bedroom door and walked in.
"Xiaoyu, you heard everything?"
Wu Dao’s face changed, nervously looking at Wu Xiaoyu.
"Hearing about the Hao Family, I knew I might have to help."
Wu Xiaoyu walked into the room expressionlessly, her attitude cold, "I have just finished handling the affairs of the deceased in the Hao Family."
"Xiaoyu, you and Hao Jian grew up together, now he’s the only one left. Could you please ask Tang Ming to spare him?"
The old man looked at Wu Xiaoyu expectantly.
"Ha, Grandpa, is the Hao Family all you care about?"
Wu Xiaoyu let out a bitter laugh, looking at the old man with resentnt, "Just because I’m a daughter of the Wu Family, does that an I must sacrifice myself repeatedly for so-called family interests? Haven’t I given enough to the family?"
"I..."
The old man was speechless.
"Xiaoyu, don’t talk to your grandfather like that!"
Wu Dao’s face changed slightly, and he hurriedly scolded her.
