Zhou Jian gave a complex smile and walked toward Song Xue’er.
"Jian, how did it go?"
Song Xue’er asked anxiously.
"Mission accomplished," Zhou Jian smiled and said cheerfully, "I’ve repaid Tang’s favor."
"That’s great! Now you must believe that I truly wanted to help you, right?"
Song Xue’er cheered and raised her arms to hug him.
"Thank you."
Zhou Jian quickly stepped back, dodging Song Xue’er’s embrace.
"Jian, do you think I’m too dirty?"
Seeing Zhou Jian’s reaction, Song Xue’er’s eyes reddened. Despite everything, could she not prove her sincerity and earn forgiveness?
"No, as the saying goes, ’to err is human, to forgive, divine.’ I’m really happy that you genuinely repent!"
Zhou Jian looked at Song Xue’er earnestly and smiled, "Just don’t make the wrong choices again, and you’ll surely find a good place in the future."
"I don’t want that; I only want to be with you. Now I truly regret my past mistakes; won’t you give another chance?"
Song Xue’er cried out excitedly.
"Sigh! I also want to start over with you, but I fear that chance is gone," Zhou Jian sighed deeply, his expression bitter:
"The Qin Family, the Sun Family, and the Yang Family are no easy opponents. After the way I’ve sched against them this ti, they won’t let off easily."
"What do you an?" Song Xue’er blinked in surprise and asked apprehensively:
"Do you an they would dare to kill soone?"
"Heh, at their level, killing soone is a simple matter."
Zhou Jian smiled nonchalantly and said carelessly:
"When I decided to stay with the New Minghuang Group, I had already disregarded my own life, knowing they would never let go. I don’t want you wasting your ti with a man marked by death; do you understand?"
"How could this happen?" Hearing this, Song Xue’er couldn’t help but burst into tears, crying out desperately:
"Let’s flee! As long as we leave Songlan City, anywhere will do. Even if we have to live in the mountains like savages, I’m willing to be with you."
"Xue’er!" Zhou Jian’s nose tingled as he touched Song Xue’er’s face regretfully:
"If only you had been like this earlier, maybe I wouldn’t have taken this path. But now it’s too late. This Double Eleven event showed the power of the three major families. Even if I fled to the ends of the earth, I couldn’t escape death. But I regret nothing; for Tang, death is a small price to pay."
"But, what about ?" Song Xue’er wept as she sobbed:
"You’re fundantally a good girl; now that you’ve repented and reford, you should start afresh. Leave Songlan for a while, and we can discuss this after the storm passes."
Zhou Jian tenderly wiped away Song Xue’er’s tears, then turned and walked away, not looking back as he said:
"If fate allows, we’ll et in the next life."
The mont Zhou Jian turned around, tears finally spilled down his cheeks. She was the only woman he had ever loved. Although she had erred, she had repented. Yet now, there was no chance for a fresh start.
"Jian, where are you going?"
Looking at Zhou Jian’s lonely figure, Song Xue’er cried out in distress.
"Waiting for death!"
Zhou Jian waved his hand and turned away.
"I—"
Just then, Song Xue’er saw a gray Jetta speeding through a red light toward Zhou Jian.
"Jian, watch out!" Seeing this, Song Xue’er shouted loudly and rushed to push Zhou Jian away.
"Bang!"
As Zhou Jian was unexpectedly knocked to the ground, he heard a loud crash behind him. When he turned around, he saw Song Xue’er’s body catapulted into the air by the car, while the Hit-and-run Jetta sped away at top speed.
"Xue’er!"
Seeing this scene, Zhou Jian’s eyes widened with shock as he scrambled and crawled frantically toward where Song Xue’er had fallen.
Looking at the blood-covered Song Xue’er on the ground, Zhou Jian’s heart was about to burst. He quickly crouched down, cradled her head, and cried out excitedly,
"Xue’er, how are you? Are you alright? Please, say sothing!"
"Ugh!" Song Xue’er spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and weakly raised her hand.
"I’m here, how are you? Soone help, please, sobody!"
Zhou Jian imdiately grabbed Song Xue’er’s hand, desperately seeking help from the people around him.
"Big brother Zhou, I truly realize my mistakes now," Song Xue’er said with difficulty.
"I know, I know. Don’t talk, I’ll take you to the hospital right now."
Holding Song Xue’er’s hand, Zhou Jian cried out, filled with regret for having dragged Song Xue’er into this situation. Otherwise, even if she hadn’t improved, she would not have ended up like this.
"Then, can you forgive ?" Song Xue’er asked, looking at Zhou Jian with hope.
"Forgive? I forgave you a long ti ago. Just get better, I’ll do anything," Zhou Jian hastily assured her, loudly.
"Hehe..." Hearing this, Song Xue’er smiled happily and then, shaking all over, clung to Zhou Jian’s hands,
"Hold again."
"You won’t have any problems, I’ll take you to the hospital!"
Zhou Jian held Song Xue’er tightly in his arms.
"I am content."
Cradled in Zhou Jian’s arms, Song Xue’er murmured faintly, and the next mont her small hand limply slipped from his embrace.
"Wake up, Xue’er, please wake up!" As Song Xue’er closed her eyes, Zhou Jian shouted frantically, looking helplessly at the surrounding crowd:
"Please help , I beg you to call an ambulance, save my girlfriend..."
City Center Hospital.
Covered in blood, Zhou Jian sat helplessly outside the ergency room in a daze, while Song Xue’er had been taken inside. At that mont, his heart was in tornt.
The mont he had decided to confront the three major families, he had disregarded his own life and death; but he had never imagined that it would ultimately cost the reford Song Xue’er her life!
"Xue’er!"
Zhou Jian sat vacantly on a chair, reminiscing about the every mont he had shared with Song Xue’er as silent tears stread down his face.
Just then, the light in the ergency room went out, and several doctors ca out.
"Doctor, how is my girlfriend doing?"
Zhou Jian rushed up, frantically asking.
"Sorry, the patient had severe internal bleeding, and she couldn’t be saved. You should go see her for the last ti,"
The doctors said, shaking their heads sympathetically.
"How could this happen?" Struck like lightning, Zhou Jian’s entire body was drained of all energy in an instant.
Soon, Song Xue’er was wheeled out from the ergency room and taken to a general ward.
"How could this happen?"
Zhou Jian followed by Song Xue’er’s side, vacantly watching her pale, unconscious face.
As dical staff left, only Zhou Jian and Song Xue’er remained in the room.
Sitting by the bed, Zhou Jian tenderly stroked Song Xue’er’s face, and after crying for a while, he suddenly laughed.
"I’m sorry, Xue’er, I caused this."
Zhou Jian murmured self-reproachfully, "Don’t worry, I won’t let you be alone on the road to the Netherworld. Those people are going to kill sooner or later anyway; might as well let go with you."
