"Slow down, Shi," he said, walking over and holding his umbrella toward the nearby Feather Vehicle. The occupant, however, completely ignored him and stepped right out.
An exquisitely beautiful young woman erged, her face a mask of ice. She didn’t stand with Qing Liuyun, but instead moved to the side, circulating her Spiritual Power to deflect the raindrops. She was neither delicate nor pretentious.
"That’s not necessary. I can handle it myself," Yu Shiqian said coolly, even taking a few steps further away.
Another young woman followed, her looks a shade less striking than the first. When her gaze fell on Qing Liuyun, however, her expression filled with disgust. "Qing Liuyun, why did you have to follow us? My sister and I ca here for training. What are you sticking your nose into our business for?"
"I was just worried about you both, wasn’t I? I heard this place is teeming with Demon Beasts. What would I do if Shi and Yu were to get injured?" Qing Liuyun replied with a gentle smile, showing no sign of anger.
"Demon Beasts? Open your eyes and look around. Where do you see any Demon Beasts... Huh? Soone got here before us?" Zhao Yu was surprised to see Yi Tianyun off to the side. This place was extrely dangerous, listed as one of the five great perils, yet soone had managed to arrive even earlier.
Qing Liuyun glanced over. He had noticed Yi Tianyun earlier but hadn’t bothered to acknowledge him. In his eyes, Yi Tianyun simply wasn’t worth the effort.
"Hey, you over there. When did you get here?" Qing Liuyun shouted at Yi Tianyun.
Yi Tianyun ignored him completely, not even bothering to spare him a glance.
"Brother Qing Liuyun is talking to you! Why aren’t you answering? Are you mute?!" Just then, another man stepped out of the carriage. He, too, wore the robes of the Cyan Profound Mansion, and his cultivation was impressive, at the seventh layer of the Core Formation Stage.
To have achieved such a high cultivation level at their young age, they were undoubtedly geniuses of Cyan Profound Mansion’s younger generation. It was a testant to the Mansion’s imnse resources; without them, they could never have secured a foothold on the Celestial Realm Continent.
Yi Tianyun shot him a cold look. ’Looks like I’m not the one stirring up trouble; they are.’ With such contemptuous gazes, it was clear they looked right through him.
"Sir, it seems you arrived before us. I was wondering, did you happen to see any Demon Beasts when you got here?" Yu Shiqian asked, walking over. Her tone was polite, her usual icy expression gone.
"There were," Yi Tianyun finally said. "But I killed them all."
"HAHAHA! You killed them?" Xiao Jianren roared with laughter. "If you killed them, where are the bodies? There’s nothing here, yet you claim you killed them? Who do you think you’re fooling? Co to think of it, that old geezer from Star Pavilion wasn’t very reliable. He swore this place was crawling with Demon Beasts, but now we can’t find a single one!"
He clearly didn’t believe Yi Tianyun, but Yi Tianyun couldn’t be bothered to explain. He had said what he needed to say.
"Whether you believe or not is none of my business." With that, Yi Tianyun turned to leave. He had no intention of lingering and planned to head toward the center of Demon Cloud Island to investigate.
’The Demon Beasts were acting strangely, so there must be sothing drawing them here.’ He wasn’t in a rush to deal with the two from Cyan Profound Mansion. With the two won from an unknown sect present, it would be troubleso if word spread that he had killed Cyan Profound Mansion disciples. It would only invite unnecessary problems.
"You!" Seeing Yi Tianyun ignore him, Xiao Jianren was about to call him out, but Qing Liuyun stopped him with a hand. "Don’t be impulsive," Qing Liuyun said calmly. "Shi and her sister are here. It would be unseemly to stain this place with blood."
"Fine, I’ll spare his life this ti!" Xiao Jianren huffed, still feeling incredibly annoyed.
"Shi, what do you say we look around the vicinity? See if there are any other Demon Beasts lurking about. I’ve heard this area has so strange phenona. Perhaps we might even find an Exotic Treasure," Qing Liuyun said with a gentle smile.
"Please have so self-respect, Young Master Qing. And do not address so familiarly," Yu Shiqian stated coolly.
With that, she walked off. Zhao Yu quickly followed her. A flicker of rage crossed Qing Liuyun’s eyes, but he forced it down. He exchanged a glance with Xiao Jianren, and they hurried after the two won.
Yi Tianyun, who had left first, circled the area ahead but found nothing. Looking back from the mountainside, he saw the group of four again. They were gathered in front of a stone stele.
Yi Tianyun saw a stele as large as a small hill, standing a hundred feet tall. It was covered in engraved text, so large that it could be read clearly even from the mountainside. There was no need to get close to make out the words.
The stele was so tall that it was perfectly legible from a distance. Still, he decided to head down the mountain for a closer look. So things were better experienced up close.
As he walked down, the four of them turned to look at him.
"It’s you?" Anger flashed in Xiao Jianren’s eyes as he watched Yi Tianyun approach. If Qing Liuyun hadn’t stopped him earlier, he would have already grabbed the man and given him a thrashing.
"Is there a problem?" Yi Tianyun asked, giving him a cool glance.
"I asked you a question before, and you just walked away without answering!" Xiao Jianren said furiously.
"I answered what needed to be answered. Whether you believe is your business; it has nothing to do with ." Yi Tianyun already had a poor impression of the Cyan Profound Mansion, and their appalling attitude only made him more displeased.
’If they weren’t in the company of others, he would have slapped them to death already.’
"Oh, quite the attitude, huh?" Xiao Jianren started forward, only to be pulled back by Qing Liuyun again.
"Ignore him. Let’s focus on the stele for now. We can settle this matter later," Qing Liuyun sent via a ntal transmission.
Only then did Xiao Jianren suppress his anger, turning his back and ignoring Yi Tianyun.
Yi Tianyun, likewise, couldn’t be bothered with him. His gaze was fixed on the stele, trying to see what was written on it.
"Oh? Co to look at the stele, have you?" Xiao Jianren’s mouth just wouldn’t quit. Seeing Yi Tianyun staring intently at the stele annoyed him greatly.
"Is there a problem?" Yi Tianyun asked, his gaze level.
"No problem at all. It’s just that so things require a certain degree of talent," Xiao Jianren said with a sneer.
"In that case, have you managed to comprehend sothing from this stele?" Yi Tianyun asked calmly.
"Well, I haven’t, but my Brother has!" Xiao Jianren glanced toward Qing Liuyun, giving him a pointed look.
The two won both looked over, a hint of surprise in their beautiful eyes. They couldn’t even read the stele, let alone comprehend anything from it. If Qing Liuyun had actually managed to, he would be a true genius!
"The text on this stele is rather obscure, but I did manage to comprehend a small portion of it. It has benefited greatly," Qing Liuyun said, bluffing. With so many eyes on him, he couldn’t possibly admit he’d understood nothing.
His expression was one of self-satisfaction. He held a fan, fanning himself gently, a smug smile in his eyes. The rain had stopped, and he had swapped his umbrella for a fan, making him look all the more affected.
Yi Tianyun couldn’t help but laugh. As it happened, he could understand the words perfectly. It wasn’t so profound text at all. It was a tombstone.
