Now reading: Chapter 136: Prelude To War: A Crown Unbefitting from My Dragon King System, a Fantasy novel by Forzy.

Aiden was now standing infront of Oberon, while Captain Charlotte attended to Finn, trying to heal him with Goddess Embrace.

"I haven’t seen or heard of most of supplentary spells you have showcased here today. They are comndable" Lord Oberon praised.

Aiden slightly nodded at this.

Much like everyone else, Oberon had the assumption that Aiden’s authority skills were all supplentary spells, and ofcourse Aiden didn’t make him believe otherwise.

Lord Oberon continued, "But i’ll ask, what if Jarius himself steps in as Champion?"

Aiden t his gaze without flinching. "Then he’ll die by my hands"

Oberon smiled coldly. "Heh, I see." Then he turned to leave.

Not long after, everyone in the hall was dismissed, and a few earth magic mages were already handling the repairs of the exam halls, slowing using their magic to rebuild the blasted ceiling.

Aiden returned to Ravens Grave after the demonstration, without feeling any strain of the fight. Although, he had this look on his face that seed disturbed.

The other captains had dispersed to their own guilds as well, so of them still found it difficult to wrap their head around the situation.

Finn was unable to raise his face proudly. How was he even going to face the mbers of his guild?

Having to resort to one of the most dangerous god level spells against a Magic Apprentice was embarrassing, and still losing at the end only made it even more humiliating.

Lord Oberon however, had pardoned the dangerous extent he had reached by using the Ragnaros spell.

...

"Show everything I achieved during the exchange" Aiden said to the system.

Once again, he was within his pocket domain. It had recently beco a place of solace and thoughts for him.

The system responded;

[New Spell copied: Darkness Magic: Dark Spear(S)]

[New Spell copied: Darkness Magic: Orbs Of Darkness(S)]

[New Spell copied: Darkness Magic: Devouring Abyss(S)]

[New Spell copied: Darkness Magic: All Black(S)]

[Supplentary spell copied: Ragnaros]

[Spell level: God]

"Oh?" Aiden then rembered, not only did he hear the full chant, he also saw the complex magic circle that ford beneath their foot. "I guess that was enough to have it copied"

That worried look from earlier returned to his face again, and Syra materialised afterwards.

"You’re worried about the nature of the God level spell from that Captain" she said, practically reading out his mind.

"Yeah. The sense of danger it made feel. Ever since gaining the system, I haven’t felt a sense of danger like that before" Aiden replied, then added "I wasn’t even certain any other thing would have countered proper, if not avoiding that attack altogether"

Syra smiled, she understood where that worry ca from. "While you’re growing quite powerful, It’s good that you feel this worry. To remind you that until you reach your full potential, there’ll always be sothing too dangerous. You’ll always be able to make smarter decisions that way, and avoiding the spell’s range, was a smart one"

"Hm.." Aiden muttered, while staring into the blank space, "one other thing worries about that spell, it didn’t feel like magic. It was part of the reasons I chose not to take a chance against sothing I did not fully understand"

"Yes, that’s because it isn’t magic. The chant invoking the power of Ragnaros is magic, but the explosion itself isn’t. It’s the god’s law" Syra replied.

Aiden looked puzzled, "You have confused"

Syra explained, "Gods may use different forms of magic, but their truest power are not classified as magic. They are know as Laws, a derivative of an underlying concept of the world."

There was a brief pause, before she added "Ragnaros is a god of chaos and disasters, and so the explosion you avoided, was a raw form of chaos. His law is Chaos and Disaster"

"Oh?" Aiden nodded in understanding, but out of curiosity asked, "so are these gods on the sa level as the Dragons or?"

Syra scoffed, "There’s a Hierarchy in this world Aiden, and Dragons are at the very Pinnacle. But don’t worry, in ti you’ll understand."

Aiden nodded once and went silent about it, deciding to let it be for now.

...

Thamoryn had just stepped into the Throne room, and walked all the way to Lord Oberon who sat on his throne seat, with a wine cup in hand.

"Your Grace," she began. "After that display, do you finally see reason to pick Aiden as your champion?"

Oberon was silent for a mont. "He’s powerful. Undeniably so."

"But?" Thamoryn knew there was still more to this.

"But he’s still a Crowley," Oberon said, swirling the wine. "And I don’t trust that he won’t turn on at a critical mont."

"He wants Jarius dead," Thamoryn countered. "For so reason, I can only see in his eyes, the contempt he has for his father"

"Perhaps," Oberon conceded. "Or perhaps he’s playing a longer ga." He set down his cup on his arm rest and looked at her. "Still, I’m not averse to the decision. His power gives us a very good chance of victory. His magic power is as high as a captain’s and he wields supplentary spells, that even you don’t know of. That advantage might be a deciding factor even if he’s faced against mumbleton"

He then stood from his seat and walked towards the round table by the corner.

Oberon reached for scroll, and read through Jarius’s formal challenge one more ti. Then he took his quill, dipped it in ink, and signed his na with a flourish.

"There," he said, handing it back to Thamoryn. "Have this sent back to Dragonhold imdiately. Let Jarius know I accept his Contest of Champions."

Thamoryn took the scroll and bowed slightly. "And your champion?"

Oberon leaned back in his chair. "Aiden. Let the bastard prince face his father’s kingdom. If he wins, I take my throne. If he loses..." He smiled slightly. "Well, we have a failsafe that ensures I get it anyway. I believe you understand what direction i’m heading towards."

"Yes, Your Grace" Thamoryn nodded affirmatively.

"To that effect, get Cedric Greystone"

"As you command, Your Grace." Thamoryn left to dispatch the scroll and fulfill the rest of the Lord’s Instructions.

Oberon pulled down the crown on his head, and looked it for a mont before saying, "No use holding on to an unbefitting crown"

Then he placed on the table and walked away.
