Aiden and his wives reached the base of the hill and stepped onto one of the main roads leading into the heart of the city.

Market lined both sides of the street. There was this one stall that sold fabrics in colors, they weren’t so sure existed in their planet.

The rchant running that stall was a woman with features of a peacock.

She noticed them staring and gestured enthusiastically toward her wares, speaking in that strange language they couldn’t understand.

Arianna smiled politely and shook her head, making a gesture with her hands that she hoped conveyed "not buying."

The rchant seed to understand and nodded before returning to arranging her fabrics.

They moved from stall to stall, taking their ti. So stands sold strange fruits, others displayed figurines; including a few shaped like dragons, which made Aiden pause and smile.

He didn’t need anyone to explain that stories of dragons had likely been passed down in this world too.

They continued on, browsing each stall in turn, until they eventually passed most of the shops and walked further into the city.

A child ran past them suddenly, a young boy with features of a rabbit. His large ears flopped as he ran and his cotton-tail bounced behind him.

He was being chased by two other children who were laughing, one resembling a squirrel and the other a small bird of so kind.

They nearly collided with Aiden but he stepped aside at the last mont. The rabbit-child glanced back with wide eyes and squeaked an apology of sorts before continuing his escape.

Laela laughed slightly at the scene while Arianna smiled fondly.

As they walked further they began noticing more details about how the city functioned.

They eventually ca upon a fountain, where people occasionally stopped beside them to scoop the flowing water into their hands for a quick drink, or to fill the jugs they carried.

Arianna walked around to the other side of the fountain and found herself face-to-face with a young woman who had features a deer with brown fur.

The deer-woman smiled shyly and offered Arianna sothing she was holding; a small pastry wrapped in a cloth.

Arianna blinked in surprise, hesitating for a mont before glancing toward Aiden. He gave her a small nod, having sensed no hint of malice from the deer-woman.

Arianna then accepted the pastry with a grateful nod.

The deer-woman’s smile widened and she gestured toward the pastry as if encouraging Arianna to try it.

Arianna unwrapped it carefully and found a flaky crust filled with what looked like fruit preserves.

She took a small bite and her eyes widened imdiately. it was really sweet with layers of flavor that reminded her of berries mixed with sothing citrus-like.

She nodded enthusiastically toward the deer-woman who seed delighted by the positive reaction before bowing slightly and walking away.

Laela stood up from beside the fountain and ca over to join them. "What’s that?" she asked while looking at the half-eaten pastry in Arianna’s hand.

"I’m not entirely sure," Arianna admitted while breaking off a piece and offering it to Laela. "But it’s delicious."

Laela tried it and made an appreciative sound before nodding in agreent.

Aiden smiled as he watched them share the unexpected gift from a stranger who couldn’t even speak their language but had still wanted to show kindness.

At one point they ca across what appeared to be a group of musicians playing weird looking instrunts.

The music they created was hauntingly beautiful, and crowd had gathered to listen, sitting on the ground or standing nearby with expressions of contentnt on their faces.

They stayed there for a while, listening, until the musicians finished their set.

The crowd slowly began to disperse, with many people dropping small pebble-like tokens, each marked with different patterns, into a basket set out in front of the perforrs. It seed this world used those patterned stones as currency.

Aiden rose to his feet. He reached into his inventory and pulled out several gold coins, then dropped them into the basket as well.

One of the musicians stared, its mouth falling open. It clearly had no idea what the tal coins were.

They continued on their exploration, one place after the other, even a certain semblance of a blacksmith shop.

At so point along their walk, Laela said,"I could stay here forever,"

Arianna stood beside her and nodded in agreent. "It almost makes forget what our own world feels like."

Aiden wrapped an arm around each of their waists. "We’ll co back whenever you both want," he promised.

——

Evening approached, or what they assud was evening given that the light never actually changed, they began noticing that the city was winding down for the day.

Shops started closing, people headed toward their hos, and the streets grew quieter.

And they too, Aiden and his wives, needed sowhere to stay.

It was then that Aiden, using his dragon’s sight, noticed sothing that looked like an inn. It was tucked into a small recessed area carved into the side of one of the giant stone arches towering above them.

He gestured toward it. "Let’s find sowhere to rest."

Both won nodded. They were tired but happy.

They eventually approached the entrance and stepped inside.

The interior was warm and dimly lit by those sa glowing crystal lanterns they’d seen throughout the city.

Behind a counter stood an innkeeper who resembled a bear. He was massive with thick brown fur.

Aiden didn’t waste ti trying to use words since language clearly wasn’t going to work here anyway.

Instead, he reached into his inventory again, pulled out several gold coins, and dropped them onto the counter in front of the innkeeper.

The innkeeper’s eyes imdiately went wide at the strange coins.

A glint of excitent sparked in his gaze. He might not have known what currency system they ca from, but gold was gold.

Shiny, irresistible, and probably universally understood. Anyone with eyes could tell it was valuable.

His expression shifted delightfully as he picked up one of the coins and examined it closely before setting it back down with so sort of satisfaction.

With a grin on his face, he raised both thumbs towards Aiden, before grabbing a key from a hook behind him.

Aiden took the key and nodded his thanks before turning toward the stairs.

Laela and Arianna followed close behind him as they climbed up to the floor.

Aiden checked the key and matched it to one of the doors before unlocking it and pushing it open.

Inside was a spacious room nicely decorated with a rug covering much of the floor. There was also a small table with two chairs at the corner.

All three stepped inside, and Aiden closed the door behind them, locking it once more.

They sank onto the mattress. Laela and Arianna exhaled in relief at the sa ti.

It had been a long, exhausting day.

Both won smiled as they looked at him sitting between them.

"I’m really glad we married you," Laela said, her voice had this tone of genuine affection.

Arianna nodded in agreent. "Today has been... incredible."

Aiden smiled back at them before reaching up and pulling off his shirt over his head, tossing it aside onto the floor nearby.

"And right now," Aiden said with a mischievous grin spreading across his face, "I’m going to fulfill my conjugal rights."

Both won’s cheeks flushed red imdiately.

Arianna bit her lip nervously while Laela looked away with a smile spreading across her own face as well.
