"We can’t hold this checkpoint anymore! If we keep this up, we’ll all die here!" the departnt head continued to roar.

Li Xiaosang sobbed but said nothing, simply clutching her longsword and continuing the slaughter. She numbly lopped off the heads of Cultists one after another, but in a mont of carelessness, she was struck from the side by a slightly stronger Cultist. Her chest caved in, and blood poured from the corner of her mouth as if it were free.

"Xiaosang!" Chen Qishou cried out in alarm. He furiously struck out, sending the Cultist flying, then rushed forward with Zhang Tiandong to help her up.

"I’m fine..." Li Xiaosang’s voice was weak. "It didn’t hit my organs. The injury isn’t too severe..."

Chen Qishou and Zhang Tiandong both let out a sigh of relief, but their hearts imdiately tensed up again. Looking at the dense swarm of Cultists and hearing the ceaseless roars of "For our Lord!", they began to feel a sense of despair.

’Looks like today is the day we’re fated to die here...’

Li Xiaosang struggled to her feet, ignoring the wound on her chest. She gripped her sword, ready to fight again.

But when she turned to look at the others, she froze.

Her godfather, the head of the security departnt for a Longque Technology branch, had silently retreated and vanished without a trace.

She gave a bitter smile and paid it no mind, joining Chen Qishou and Zhang Tiandong in swinging her sword to slay their enemies.

But without the Grandmaster from the security departnt to hold them back, Cultists who were High-ranking Grandmasters, and even so in the Grandmaster Realm, broke through.

One by one, mbers of Longque Technology fell. People died grueso deaths on the spot, and the entire checkpoint was torn apart!

"I guess this is the end..." Leaning on her sword to support her utterly exhausted body, Li Xiaosang huddled together with Chen Qishou and Zhang Tiandong. They watched the approaching Cultists, their faces contorted with fanaticism, and despaired.

They had no strength left.

’We’re going to die...’

Li Xiaosang smiled faintly, a nostalgic look crossing her face.

"It’s a sha. I didn’t even get to see him before I died. If only I could do it all over again."

Beside her, Zhang Tiandong gave a bitter smile.

"Xiaosang, I’m right here next to you. Can’t you... look at ?"

Li Xiaosang glanced at him, her smile breathtaking enough to topple cities.

"No, I won’t look at you. If there really is a next life, and we happen to et again, you might have a small chance."

Chen Qishou watched the Cultists draw closer and also smiled. Knowing there was no escape, he suddenly relaxed and joked,

"See? What did I tell you before? Simps die a dog’s death... and now you’re really going to die a dog’s death."

"Fuck you!" Zhang Tiandong cursed with a laugh, but his eyes were filled with calm as he quietly awaited death.

"It’s just..."

Li Xiaosang sighed again.

"Zhang Tiandong, I’m going to say sothing, so don’t be sad... I really do want to see Lu Xuan one more ti. I wonder how he’s doing now, and if he managed to escape."

Hearing this, Chen Qishou shot Zhang Tiandong a contemptuous look. He coughed up blood while taunting him,

"You really are a clown!"

"Heh heh!" Zhang Tiandong was too weak to argue. "Forget it. A clown is a clown. It’s not so bad being a clown."

As he spoke, he reached out, dabbed so of Chen Qishou’s blood, sared it on the corners of his own mouth, and drew them upward into a wide smile.

"I’m going in first!"

He said with a smile, "Xiaosang, I have to die before you."

With that, Zhang Tiandong limped forward, charging toward the Cultists. After fiercely cutting down two of them, he was sward by more. Longswords and long spears thrust toward him, ready to pierce his body.

Tears stread down Li Xiaosang’s face as she closed her eyes. Chen Qishou turned his head, unable to watch.

The next second.

The rain stopped.

Zhang Tiandong, who had closed his eyes to await death, blankly opened them again. He saw the nearest longsword was only a hair’s breadth away, yet all the Cultists were frozen in place, completely motionless.

The curtain of rain was also frozen.

Sheets of rain hung suspended in mid-air, glistening and sparkling. This wasn’t just happening here—it was the sa throughout all of East Sea City!

"What is..."

Li Xiaosang asked blankly, staring in bewildered confusion at the motionless Cultists and the frozen raindrops.

"Look!" Chen Qishou suddenly raised his hand and pointed to the sky.

The sky, at so unknown point, had been dyed blood-red. A bloody, baleful aura stretched for thousands of miles, surging boundlessly and without end.

Imdiately after, a great killing intent, like a tidal wave, swept across all of East Sea City, freezing everyone in place and stirring up monstrous waves in their hearts!

’Could it be? Could the owner of those giant eyes in the sky be about to act?’

This thought surfaced in everyone’s mind.

"No!"

Ao Chengzhong suddenly snapped to his senses. He struggled to break free from the suppression of the killing intent, a look of joy appearing on his face.

"This is... this is another Great Grade!"

When a Great Grade being harbors killing intent, a bloody, baleful aura stretches for thousands of miles, as if the heavens themselves are moved to kill.

At this ti, at this mont, in this place, it seed another Great Grade Existence had appeared!

’But... a turning point?’

Subconsciously, Ao Chengzhong snapped his gaze sideways, peering into the distance, and finally saw it!

It was a Golden Great Dao, spread across the sky above East Sea City.

It was accompanied by the music of an immortal cantata filled with the aning of the supre, of purity, and of non-action; by celebratory smoke that was both dark and radiant; and by a faint Essence Qi that was both ethereal and profound!

The sound of footsteps rang out, like muffled drums, like Great Thunder.

DONG! DONG! DONG! DONG...

Step by step he walked, the heavy drumming shaking the frozen rain in mid-air until it completely dissipated. The sky cleared, and the entire city fell silent!

The one walking on the Golden Great Dao was an old man dressed in a resplendent, ancient golden robe. He had a full head of weathered white hair and was surrounded by the profound aura of three thousand years of ti.

He approached, his footsteps heavy, his heartbeat a muffled boom. Every sound set off cataclysmic ripples.

As the old man walked, he gazed down at the city below with a lost and sorrowful expression. He looked at the heaps of corpses and the fields of blood that couldn’t be washed clean, and tears fell from his eyes.

He saw Lu Xiuyuan, propped up by his long saber and utterly exhausted; he saw Ji Bochang, who had lost an arm; he saw Chen Tianhua’s head, which had rolled onto the ground; he saw the scar-covered Li Xiaosang...

With every scene that entered his eyes, his fury grew. The mories of seven years ago and the tragic sight before him were like sharp blades, piercing his heart.

"Fellow Daoist."

From the sky, the owner of the giant eyes—each hundreds of ters wide—spoke.

"Fellow Daoist, for what purpose have you co?"

His voice, like the tolling of a magnificent celestial bell, echoed throughout East Sea City.

The civilians in the square and the scar-covered Cultivators at every checkpoint, along with Ao Chengzhong and Yan Jiangxue, all gazed silently at the old man.

Countless gazes were filled with both hope and worry.

They hoped the old man had co to protect the common people, but feared this supre Existence was rely passing by and would pay them no heed.

In the sky, on the Golden Great Dao.

The old man stopped. He didn’t use Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi or his own vital energy, but instead mobilized his Spiritual Will, bringing it down with unerring accuracy upon every single Cultist.

A million Cultists collapsed in unison, their collective fall creating a trendous BOOM!!

The giant eyes turned cold in an instant.

Lu Xuan raised his head. His resplendent Golden Long Robe fluttered in the wind as he spoke in a voice of absolute, freezing cold:

"I ca to kill you."

The giant eyes lowered, revealing an imnse face that spanned several thousand ters. A terrifying pressure swept over the entirety of East Sea City.

This Great Grade Immortal chuckled.

"Fellow Daoist, you alone... I’m afraid it’s not enough. No, you’re far from it..."

He was, after all, a Great Grade True Immortal with extraordinary perception. He could see with a single glance that sothing was wrong with Lu Xuan’s condition. His control over his power was weak, and the Primordial Qi around him was oscillating uncontrollably, creating great tidal waves of energy.

Lu Xuan looked up, eting the giant face’s gaze, and enunciated each word clearly,

"Then why don’t we test that?"

"Why not?"

The two streams of immortal might crashed into each other like colossal waves, sending sprays of energy soaring into the sky.

Lu Xuan walked toward the sky. As he went, he touched the invisible mark in the palm of his hand.
