Lu Xuan’s calm words were like the clap of thunder, rolling in like a tide and making Zhu Wuneng’s head buzz incessantly.

’I am a Jade Void Disciple, and the Supre is also my master...’

His heart clenched.

Zhu Wuneng’s mind went blank. ’A disciple of both the Supre and the Grandmaster of Jade Void... Impossible!’

He blurted out,

"Supre Venerable, are you serious? You an to say that the Supre and Grandmaster Jade Void... are both your masters?"

The words caused a Glazed Lamp, resting peacefully in a Spiritual World, to suddenly begin darting about frantically, fiercely burning away at Cause and Effect.

At that level of existence, the re ntion of their nas would grant them imdiate insight and awareness. Inside a certain Daoist Palace, sweat dripped from the Blind Daoist’s forehead as his face twitched.

’That was close. The na of the Supre was invoked twice. If I weren’t the Cause of All Fruits and hadn’t been the first to sense the tremor in Cause and Effect, then...’

At that mont, the portly old man spoke in a daze,

"The Supre and Grandmaster Jade Void stand at the pinnacle of the world. How could it be possible..."

The Blind Daoist hastily extinguished the ripples of Cause and Effect.

"And why shouldn’t it be possible?" Lu Xuan said. "Just because I am Fusheng of the Jade Void Lineage, does that an I cannot also join the Taishang Lineage?"

"But... but the Supre and..."

The Blind Daoist intercepted the reverberating Cause and Effect yet again. The corner of his eye twitched as his gaze pierced through endless worlds and infinite voids. He didn’t even care if he was noticed by those few ’Fellow Daoists,’ fixing his sight on Lu Xuan and the portly old man.

’Hmph. My own disciple is fine, of course. It’s this little piglet that’s the problem...’

A dangerous glint flashed in the Primordial’s eyes as he committed the na Zhu Bajie to mory.

「anwhile, in the back room of the tavern at the main camp beside the Immortal Pit.」

Old Zhu laughed sheepishly. Just as he was about to say sothing, his heart began to pound violently for no apparent reason. Every cell in his body scread a desperate warning!

’This pig’s gonna die! This pig’s gonna die! This pig’s gonna die!’

He shuddered, nearly collapsing to the ground. He looked around in a panic but saw nothing.

Lu Xuan frowned. He didn’t dwell on it, but his attitude toward Old Zhu clearly cooled as he asked calmly,

"Let put it another way. That senior brother of yours was the one who knocked over the Supre Pill Furnace, wasn’t he?"

A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes. He cracked his knuckles, fighting the impulse to have Zhu Wuneng take a couple of Immortal Slaying Sword Qi strikes on behalf of that Monkey Demon.

But Lu Xuan abandoned the idea. For one, every debt has its debtor; it was better to wait until the Immortal Gods returned and his own power could rival a Great Saint of the Demon Race. Then he would settle the score with the Monkey Demon personally.

The other reason was simpler: despite Old Zhu’s deferential attitude, Lu Xuan wasn’t entirely sure he could win a fight against him.

Lu Xuan could sense that although Old Zhu was ek and subservient, he was bound by heavy shackles. Ninety-nine percent of his cultivation was sealed and suppressed.

But the aura still circulating within his physical shell was equivalent to the absolute peak this world could currently withstand...

A Great Grade Immortal.

At this thought, Lu Xuan rubbed his chin. His expression returned to normal as he lowered his gaze and asked,

"Alright, let’s put that aside for now. By the way, Old Zhu, what level had you reached before the world began to decline?"

The dazed Old Zhu snapped out of it. Suppressing the tremors in his heart, he gave an awkward laugh and said sowhat bashfully,

"My talent ain’t that great. In the end, I only barely managed to beco a Celestial Venerable..."

"What about the others? Yang Erlang and his group?"

Old Zhu grew even more embarrassed.

"Ahem, Heaven-Barking Dog was about the sa as , maybe a bit weaker. Then there’s Nezha, who probably reached the peak of the Immortal Level. Yang Erlang and Old Taibai... I an, Li Changgeng, they were both at the [Celestial Realms] level. They’re Upper Celestial Venerables of the Daoist Sect."

"As for that Big Black Bull... now he’s really sothing. He was once the mount of Grandmaster Shangqing, and he also reached the [Celestial Realms] stage."

Lu Xuan was stunned. ’That old bull with a palm print branded on its face was actually the mount of one of my Three Masters?’

Imdiately, his pupils constricted slightly. ’Yang Erlang and Li Nezha are supposed to be from my martial nephews’ generation, yet one is at the Immortal Peak, and the other is an Upper Celestial Venerable...’

An Upper Celestial Venerable was already at the Sixth Step. Any higher, and they would be among that small handful of individuals his master had ntioned—those qualified to contend for a Dao Fruit Position.

’It seems these Immortals are far more formidable than I imagined.’

As he was lost in thought, Old Zhu spoke cautiously,

"Venerable Fusheng, you were in seclusion for countless ages, so you might not know about many things that happened in the outside world. The incident with Brother Monkey knocking over the Supre’s Pill Furnace... that was all a misunderstanding."

Lu Xuan waved a hand dismissively and said calmly,

"I will ask the Supre about it myself."

After sorting through his thoughts, he began to understand. With his master’s power, it was indeed unlikely that a Great Saint of the Demon Race could have knocked over the Pill Furnace. ’I’m afraid that if that Pill Furnace were truly lit, even that handful of the strongest experts below the level of Dao Fruit would be reduced to ash.’

At Lu Xuan’s words, Zhu Wuneng staggered again, his heart pounding. He didn’t dare say another word, afraid that the more he spoke, the more he’d get wrong.

Lu Xuan waved his hand.

"Alright. I’ll have to trouble you to travel with for a while, Uncle Zhu. What should we do with this tavern?"

"Just leave it. It was just sothing I threw together on a whim." Zhu Wuneng bowed, though he felt a bitter taste in his mouth. ’I can only hope Yang Erlang and the others get here soon.’

With that thought, he couldn’t help but sigh. He cupped his hands in a fist and said,

"Then I am honored to accompany you, Venerable Fusheng..."

Before he could finish, a clamor suddenly arose outside. Lu Xuan extended his senses and raised an eyebrow.

"Let’s go see what’s happening."

Zhu Wuneng nodded quickly and followed right behind him.

Outside the tavern, a large group of Cultivators was in a state of chaos. But just as quickly, they fell silent, all staring with a mixture of reverence and fear at the Great Sun traversing the sky.
