The Lin Mansion suddenly dispatched a large group of servants to search everywhere, but no one knew who they were searching for, causing quite a commotion.

Nevertheless, Wu Qingsheng managed to escape from the Lin Mansion "without danger."

Chen Yi and Lin Yan waited patiently within the Lin Mansion.

"Soon, Wu Qingsheng will lead his n to uncover the whereabouts of the second volu of the Spring and Autumn Register,"

As he spoke, Lin Yan placed the first volu of the Spring and Autumn Register into the brazier.

Black smoke rose into the air, and the register that recorded the nas of half the fifth-grade martial artists in the capital slowly burned into ashes.

"Chen Qianhu, your contribution to this righteous cause cannot go unnoticed. When success is upon us, may I know what you desire, Qianhu?"

Lin Yan sat down and handed over the tea that his wife had prepared to Chen Yi with both hands.

Chen Yi took the teacup, sipped gently, and smiled:

"For now, nothing is certain. It’s too early to discuss such things."

"The matter is decided. We’ve acted swiftly, and that wicked Empress has yet to catch wind of it. Even if she does, she won’t have the manpower to act. The poetry gathering has locked up all the prominent civil officials and martial generals in my Lin Mansion. She has no way out. Since that’s the case, why not give a firm answer now, Qianhu? It would help prepare for what’s to co."

Chen Yi laughed aloud:

"I’m soone who enjoys life. I don’t seek excessive fa or wealth—I fear that too much is as bad as too little. However... there is one thing I must obtain."

Upon hearing this, Lin Yan inwardly scoffed but outwardly maintained a friendly and warm deanor:

"We’re our own people, so speak freely. I fear the only thing Qianhu seeks... is beauty, isn’t it? Your reputation for charm and romance precedes you."

Chen Yi smiled, saying nothing.

Lin Yan playfully praised him:

"As the saying goes, ’A fine woman marries a worthy man; a great man weds nine wives.’ But if you ask , with your exceptional martial arts that can defeat hundreds single-handedly, Qianhu, you should marry nine hundred wives."

"It pleases to hear that, but nine hundred wives might be too much for to handle."

Chen Yi paused and glanced at the Lin Family Young Lady, who was gracefully preparing tea. She gently covered her mouth to chuckle, her forrly faint presence now radiating vitality.

Lin Wanxiao noticed Chen Yi looking at her and felt slightly uneasy, stopping her smile.

Her husband’s eyes glead coldly.

"Your wife has remarkable beauty. May I ask if her family has any sisters?"

When Chen Yi said those words, Lin Wanxiao’s negative emotions visibly surged.

This refined young woman, whose delicate nature was evident at a glance, flushed bright red.

Lin Yan remained calm and said:

"My wife’s family does have quite a few sisters. Each one is a budding beauty. If Qianhu has interest, I wouldn’t hesitate to lose face to arrange a matchmaker for you. You marry one, and we’d be considered brothers-in-law."

"That would be excellent. Should we then address one another as brothers in the future?"

Chen Yi smiled and cupped his fists.

Lin Yan’s expression softened: "Naturally so."

"Then," Chen Yi cupped his fists again, "Brother Lin."

Lin Yan’s face froze for a mont. He was already twenty-seven years old, a full five years older than Qianhu. After a brief silence, he endured the remark and forced a smile as he said:

"Brother Chen."

Chen Yi turned to look at his "cheap sister-in-law."

Seeing her husband humiliated, the Lin Family Young Lady also felt disgraced, glaring angrily at Chen Yi.

Chen Yi stared at her with an ambiguous smile.

Lin Wanxiao felt creeped out under his gaze. She was used to marital harmony and quietly cursed him as a scoundrel in her heart. On the surface, however, she could only delicately and softly call out:

"Big Brother."

[Lin Wanxiao’s negative emotions rewarded with ten years of True Qi.]

With the Forbidden Army’s western camps in motion, chaos erupted near Qian Deng Temple. Many Taoists from Shangqing Dao and Yin Sword Mountain were apprehended.

Min Ning led Yin Tingxue, following Chen Yi’s instructions, through alleyways to avoid the Forbidden Army along the way.

What Chen Yi wanted her to do was simple—find an opportunity to contact the people from West Factory.

In this whole affair of forcing the Emperor’s hand, Chen Yi seed both aligned with the Lin Party yet still standing with the Heavenly Family. Min Ning couldn’t discern his true intentions—perhaps he was hedging his bets, or perhaps he truly was only acting in his own interest.

But there was one thing Min Ning understood clearly—she only needed to do as Chen Yi instructed.

Crossing an alley and turning a corner, Min Ning rushed towards the direction of Donghua Gate.

Suddenly, an aged and hysterical voice pierced through the alley.

"The Emperor has ascended! The Emperor has slain the three corpses and beco immortal!"

Min Ning froze.

That voice... she knew it too well!

It was her grandfather!

Yin Tingxue saw Min Ning frozen in place, confused, and shook her arm.

Min Ning snapped out of it, legs trembling, and instinctively dragged Yin Tingxue as she bolted forward.

Turning through several alleys and approaching the source of the voice, she finally stopped in a spacious alley and looked up.

She saw a ghostly apparition with a head full of white hair, emitting a thick killing intent. It raved and scread madly, repeating similar phrases.

"The thod for eternal life has been found. The Emperor has slain the three corpses and beco immortal!"

"A blessing for us all, and boundless grace from the heavens! The Emperor has returned to the Nine Heavens above!"

Min He’s ghost shouted incessantly, his eyes blank and unseeing.

"Grandfather!"

Min Ning scread hoarsely.

The aged ghost visibly faltered and turned his lifeless eyes towards Min Ning.

In his gaze, a fleeting clarity appeared,

"Run!"

Min Ning froze.

Behind her, the sound of footsteps echoed.

A female crown holding a horsetail whisk walked steadily into the alley, ethereal like an immortal, while the white-clothed swordsman Xue Chengdong, wielding a three-foot blade, approached smilingly step by step.

Min Ning stiffly turned around and instantly realized it was a trap. She gritted her teeth and said:

"It’s you... Yin Immortal."

Yin Weiyin smiled coldly and replied:

"Your grandfather indeed lured you here."

As she spoke, the female crown glanced at the young girl Min Ning was leading, her eyes flashing with surprise.

"I didn’t expect... it to be the Duke of Xiang’s daughter."

In the capital, the won of the Prince Mansion often had dealings with each other. Yin Weiyin had once t this Daughter of Xiang.

Yin Tingxue raised her eyes to look at the female crown and recognized her:

"Sister Weiyin?"

"You rember ."

Yin Weiyin smiled and said:

"Don’t worry. I won’t harm you. But... how did you end up with Min Yuechi?"

"I..."

Before Yin Tingxue could respond, the astute female crown imdiately pieced it together,

"Chen Qianhu once took a maidservant from the Prince Mansion... I suppose that was not a maidservant but you."

With the truth exposed, Min Ning glared at Yin Weiyin with eyes brimming with murderous intent.

The white-clothed swordsman stepped forward, his sword still sheathed, yet its Sword Intent forced Min Ning back a step.

The aged ghost sensed the murderous aura directed at his kin. With a terrifying and hoarse shout, like wielding an invisible blade, he charged forward violently.

Xue Chengdong’s eyes sharpened, and his blade was about to unsheath.

However, at that critical mont, Min He rushed straight through him.

Xue Chengdong was montarily stunned, while Yin Weiyin started laughing. Raising her hand, she ford a seal and seized the ghost, chanting incantations. Min He’s ghost let out heart-wrenching cries, and the trace of clarity in his eyes once again clouded over.

"Yin Weiyin!"

Min Ning’s eyes reddened, and she drew her blade from its sheath.
