"Why can't we summon the soul back?"
"It's not about failing to summon the soul, but these feathers..." Zhang Shengzhen raised his hand, pointing to Donggong Ruoshu lying on the ground, "How can a common soul enter an Immortal Body?"
Before Chen Yi could react, Donggong Ruoshu exclaid, "Have I beco immortal?"
Zhang Shengzhen heard her indifferent tone and couldn't help but be at a loss, only managing a wry smile, "Miss, your body is indeed an Immortal Body, and moreover, it's an ancient one said to be incorruptible for hundreds of generations, with abilities to cut through hair and match the heavens and earth, vastly different from the immortals of today, it is an Ancient Immortal."
Unlike Donggong Ruoshu's obliviousness, Chen Yi gasped in shock, his heart surging with waves. In ancient tis, humans, ghosts, and gods lived together in the world, and of those who achieved immortality, there were very few, rely nas like Peng Zu and Chi Songzi recorded in the scriptures. According to Chen Yi's knowledge, there was no Heavenly Court at that ti; these Ancient Immortals lived alongside heaven and Earth, incomparable to the immortals seen today.
The Corpse Immortal remains seen in the tomb earlier were not sacrifices, but funerary objects, undoubtedly the shed remains of Ancient Immortals. Even after thousands of years, they have not been eroded by ti, retaining the power to summon spirits.
Chen Yi was amazed; Donggong Ruoshu was different now, she suddenly realized her own greatness.
After a while, Chen Yi returned to his senses and said, "So, doesn't this an she can never return to her physical body?"
"Faced with such unusual occurrences, one can only find another vessel... huh... the Miss's situation..."
Zhang Shengzhen noticed sothing, his eyes suddenly showed astonishnt. At this ti, during the dusk, a layer of faint golden glow covered Miss Donggong's cheeks.
It looked like Buddha Light.
At first glance, behind Donggong Ruoshu's head seed a halo, her brows were calm, and her tightly closed eyes exuded unmatched tranquility, like craftsn roughly sculpting divine charm into a statue.
Zhang Shengzhen exclaid, "This is the Round Wheel Golden Light, only those with virtue can possess it! During Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian usurped the throne by falsely claiming to be the Dharma King and fabricated this golden light before her ministers. She did not have the achievents to rule the world, but she declared herself to have the virtue to govern it, fitting the saying that 'the virtuous shall rule.' Although we descendants know this was false, the people at that ti believed it wholeheartedly."
"So," Donggong Ruoshu questioned, "Can I also usurp the throne?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Shengzhen's earlier shock, and even his slight urge to bow in reverence, vanished without a trace. The old Taoist collected himself and could only chuckle.
Chen Yi had a line of black on his forehead, lowered his head and glanced at the Buddha Light behind Donggong Ruoshu's head. He vaguely rembered that Miss Donggong was once troubled by the Burning Bone Brahma Sound, stuck in the Sixth Rank unable to ascend to the Fourth Rank. He had asked for the reason, to which she said a wandering mage once imparted half of his power to her, though she benefitted, she had to endure the burning bone pain since then, requiring the Li Pearl to dissolve it.
Unexpectedly, fortune favored her, leaving a glimr of hope for Donggong Ruoshu here.
"Don't bother with her, fellow Daoist, please continue." Chen Yi spoke.
Zhang Shengzhen gathered his surprise, calculated with his fingers, and continued, "Though the Miss unexpectedly beca an Immortal Body, the Round Wheel Golden Light from the Buddhist Sect cos from within due to her power, while the Immortal Body is from without. Though the two do not necessarily clash like water and fire, they do repel each other, neither conquering the other... If, if... the Buddha Light could strengthen a few inches, perhaps 'fallen feathers return to humanity,' but it's hard to say... hard to say..."
Zhang Shengzhen was muttering for quite so ti, his expression curious yet conflicted, finally sighing lightly, "With my abilities, I cannot fathom the mystery within. You might seek soone wiser, perhaps the current Heavenly Master Zhang of Dragon and Tiger Mountain might have a solution."
Chen Yi nodded slightly, acknowledging that while skills are specialized, Zhang Shengzhen is adept at sewing corpses and summoning souls, finding a definitive solution from such an obscure Taoist might be too demanding.
However, he provided a direction, which was indeed a considerable gain.
"So, thank you for pointing out the perplexing paths, Master Zhang."
"Oh dear, you're flattering ... I dare not claim to be 'Master' before fellow Daoists." Then he said, "There's one more thing I must remind you,"
Zhang Shengzhen appeared lost in thought, after a while, he slowly said, "Rember, be extrely cautious on the road ahead. The Miss's body is undoubtedly the shed remains of an Ancient Immortal. Such an Immortal Body is rare in the world, possessed only by those who have transcended into immortality through ancient thods, like the Quanzhen Sect Great Immortal Qiu Chuji. After he attained immortality, his remains were buried at White Cloud Temple, at Qiu Ancestor Hall. In the center of the Qiu Ancestor Hall lies a 'giant scoop,' also known as 'Ying Bowl.' This 'Ying Bowl' is a burl of a thousand-year-old ancient tree, Qiu Chuji's remains are buried beneath the 'Ying Bowl.'
For thousands of years, nurous ill-intentioned creatures coveted the Ying Bowl Immortal Body, attempting theft, robbery, or assault, even laying siege to the Qiu Ancestor Hall. Although the Hall had grand assets, it couldn't withstand the disturbances. Ultimately, they sought the guidance of heavenly ancestors, excavated the Ying Bowl Immortal Body. As soon as this Immortal Body erged, nine people ascended to immortality on the spot, and later nine more entered the hall to transform into immortals. After three such incidents, if anyone entered the hall, they missed the opportunity, only seeing the remains transform into butterflies, leaving with a garden full of exotic fragrance...
I ntion this story only to remind fellow Daoists to be cautious, knowing that innocence is a curse to those bearing treasures. If people co to know of another Immortal Body erging, one can defend against a thousand threats, but not against the unforeseen."
Hearing these words, Chen Yi's mind moved slightly, perceiving sothing from Zhang Shengzhen's expression, and asked, "Fellow Daoist, why do you describe this so clearly?"
Zhang Shengzhen paused montarily, chuckled bitterly, then said, "I'm afraid I was one of those who missed the opportunity."
