Damon

It’s been six days!

Six days since that coward fled and still there was no word?!

I clenched my jaw, staring out into the horizon from the balcony of my office. I bit down, hard, cradling my elbow with my other hand as my knuckles tapped against my lips. The rejection bond ached, serving as a constant, irritating reminder of her stupidity.

The re audacity she had to smile and walk away.

Who did she think she was?!

Elena’s hand touched my arm and I went rigid, as if just realising she was there. I knew when she had co in, but hadn’t registered her presence till now.

"They’ll find her."

"I know," I grumbled, still looking out into the woods.

"Da... Damon, it would..." She grunted and took her arm back to herself. I could hear the frustration in her voice. "You said you would mark —"

"After I deal with her," I gritted out, finally turning to look at her.

She flinched, and then a frown ford on her face. "What is wrong with you? You’ve been obsessed with this girl for days. She is not worth your ti and attention and you know it!"

I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, lowering my head. "Elena—"

"What? She is going to die out there anyway. You really don’t need to do anything. If it is about the pain, all you have to do is mark . You promised!"

"Elena, now is not the ti." I opened my eyes to look at her.

She looked like she was on the verge of tears.

When she noticed looking at her, she imdiately turned her back to and I sighed, dropping my arms.

"Elena..." I reached out to her, but my attention was quickly diverted by the subtle movents in the near distance.

They were coming.

I pushed past her and leaned against the railing, watching them approach from the outskirts of the trees. Their shoulders were slumped and every movent scread how exhausted they were.

But where was she?

They had not seen her, and yet, I asked them to bring her here, alive so I could punish her myself and watch her grovel at my feet.

WHY DID THEY CO EMPTY HANDED?!

My fingers clamped down hard on the wood, cracking it. She was weak, she was not clever, she was pathetic. How could they not have found her by now?!

I turned away from the railing and rushed into the study.

"Damon!" Elena yelled behind , but I ignored her, bounding for the door.

It flew open.

"Alpha." Marcus stiffened as he noticed before him, his hand still on the door.

"Move," I hissed, my fists clenched at my sides.

"At least hear what they have to report before doing anything," his words ca out in a rush and the insolent fool still stood in my way.

"Move aside, Marcus!" I yelled at him.

"Please! You don’t want the whole pack knowing every single detail about this, do you?"

I glared at him, silent. Then I walked back into the study, pacing back and forth.

"Report. What rotten report? There is nothing to report. That girl is still alive," I mumbled under my breath.

"Alpha..."

I turned away from the entrance, taking a deep breath and squaring my shoulders as I tried to relax.

I slowly turned to look at Garret’s pitiful fra. Marcus stepped into the room after the supervising patrol guard and closed the door behind him. He stood at the corner while Garret slowly stepped forward, his scarred face tired.

"We... have so... new developnts, Alpha," he started, and I frowned.

What was that supposed to an?

He continued, "She left the territory, but we ca across so wolves at the neutral zone—"

"Get to the point! It is a neutral zone, you could still search for her there!" I snapped.

He jumped. "Yes, but... this... she went... West."

I straightened as a sense of clarity brought to my senses. "You t wolves from Fresna?"

Did this girl flee to another nation?

Garret vehently nodded, "Yes, but... these were wolves from the capital pack of the nation. The Supre Alpha’s..."

I felt a sudden sense of foreboding.

I did not like where this was going.

"What did you tell them?" I asked, stiff.

"I described her, but said she was a warrior from the pack who had escaped confinent, and that she was a dangerous criminal. I did this so that—"

I frowned. "I understand, get to the point!"

"They said they would be on the lookout for her and would hand her over once found—"

"Pardon ," Marcus cut in, raising his hand apologetically. "Please, this is a dangerous lie. If they do find her and see that she is not—"

"I will deal with it if it cos to that, shut up, Marcus." I glowered at him before shifting my attention back to Garret. "Speak."

"They actually said they t her, but said she was an Oga, and that she was dying... Alpha, she is dead. They buried her since she passed away on their soil. This is—"

"She is alive!!"

The room trembled at the sound of my voice. Marcus and Garret cowered, taking a sudden step back.

I grabbed the nearest object and flung it in the guard’s direction. He darted out of the way and it crashed against the wall.

I hit my chest. "I feel her, and I can sense her. She is still alive! How stupid are you to take the re words of a..." I bit down on my fist and groaned, turning away from him.

If I stared at his ugly face a mont longer, I would hit him.

This made no sense. It made no sense at all!

They lied. The fact that they lied ant they had already t her. Had they taken her in? That was impossible. Absolutely impossible. The capital wolves were vicious and strict. They were all like that regardless of the nation. I had t a number of them during old conferences when my father was still alive.

"Alpha..." Garret weakly muttered, "I had no way of knowing. They—"

"Shut up!" I yelled, grabbing one of the chairs and throwing it his way. Wood splintered against the wall, slightly denting it this ti.

My eyes burned and I turned around, pointing a finger at him. "One more word and I rip out your throat!"

I hissed and clutched my face, turning away from them both. It seems Elena had left. I didn’t know when, but this was good.

I was not in the mood for another set of waterworks.

Violet...

That rotten cripple.

First, it was father, and now a Supre Alpha’s pack of all things.

WHAT WERE THEY SEEING IN HER THAT I COULDN’T SEE?

I was not lacking in any way so what was this supposed worth she had?

She was alive. They had her. And they lied, knowing I couldn’t just burst into their territory just like that.

I straightened, a strange sense of calm consuming while the rejection pain tugged at my chest, harder this ti.

"Marcus... when is the regional council?"

"In four... months."

I grimaced. That was too far.

"I will need to see our Supre Alpha."
