Did it hit? Xu Shuhan held her breath, her nerves taut as she glanced at Ling Mo. The scene unfolded too quickly; she hadn’t even sensed the monster, nor expected it to appear so silently within twenty ters of them… The two were separated by nothing more than a short concrete passage.
Before any further commotion could arise outside, Ling Mo suddenly said, “Let’s go!”
“What…”
“Whoa!”
The “crying” outside suddenly amplified by countless decibels, accompanied by the “clang clang clang” sound once more. The noise was like a series of dense bell tolls, making one’s heart tighten involuntarily.
“Move quickly!” This ti, Xu Shuhan understood without needing further explanation from Ling Mo. She grabbed his wrist and accelerated into a sprint down the passage.
“Do you know which way…”
Ling Mo barely started speaking when Xu Shuhan replied, “I saw the ground! He went this way… Ling Mo, is that the monster that lured us before?”
“Yes… I underestimated it. I thought it lacked strong combat abilities, but its fighting style is unexpected… And its defense is incredibly strong…” Ling Mo said intermittently, frowning.
In that brief mont, he had indeed hit the monster with his tentacle, aiming at its psychic light cluster… But unexpectedly, it only enraged the creature. When he tried to strike again, a strong sense of danger suddenly approached from the darkness outside the narrow concrete tunnel. Sothing was definitely closing in…
If they stayed in their previous position, they would be at a severe disadvantage. The monster lurked outside, while they would be trapped in a precarious situation. If they were held up here, more monsters would be drawn in… And that wasn’t the worst-case scenario.
As ti passed, sothing might erge from both ends of the passage… At least they needed to escape this three-sided threat! And the best option now was to run!
Xu Shuhan occasionally glanced behind, the cries still clear, and she felt as if she and Ling Mo were running in place. Despite having sprinted for several seconds, covering about a hundred ters, the sound didn’t diminish; it seed to cling to their ears.
“Is it following us…” Xu Shuhan finally couldn’t help but ask.
“Let it follow!” Ling Mo also looked back, saying.
Though Ling Mo didn’t make any visible moves, Xu Shuhan knew from the constant crying behind them that he was searching for weaknesses to attack. But Ling Mo’s attacks were greatly affected by distance, and with both parties sprinting, accuracy and lethality were hard to guarantee.
Though the monster pursued relentlessly, its volu indeed gradually decreased. Yet, the sound was still amplified by the passage, making it nerve-wracking.
In the darkness, it always felt like sothing would leap out at them…
“Will it draw all the underground monsters here…”
“No, it won’t!” Ling Mo’s tone was very certain.
The Zombie Puppets had already been alerted; not even a slight noise had reached them. But given they were in the sa area, the straight-line distance wouldn’t exceed a kiloter. Analyzing the situation, the sewer’s soundproofing was actually quite good… It’s just that when in the sa passage, the sound gets amplified, even creating an echo effect.
“It’s not over yet!”
Ling Mo’s face was grim; this monster had been haunting them since his Zombie Puppet entered the underground, leading everyone by the nose. Now, chasing them, it was even more aggressive than before. And the monster’s speed wasn’t much slower than Xu Shuhan’s, especially since she was carrying soone, causing the gap between them to slowly close.
Xu Shuhan, sensing sothing, glanced back and suddenly scread.
“What happened?”
“It…” Xu Shuhan looked shocked, clearly frightened. At this distance, she could already see the monster’s appearance.
Hearing her scream, the monster seed excited, opening its mouth to “wah wah” in a chaotic cry. The previous humanoid monsters didn’t react this way; this one clearly had intelligence, and a rather twisted kind… Moreover, Ling Mo could occasionally feel the monster’s gaze, different from a Zombie’s stare; it had a strong, lecherous vibe… It wasn’t just looking at food; it was “loving” the food…
“Damn!”
Ling Mo pulled out the flashlight, taking a deep breath, his vision changing instantly.
In the darkness, a blood-red psychic light cluster appeared, small and constantly shifting… And enveloping the light cluster was the monster’s body…
“There it is!” With his eyes focused, Ling Mo suddenly clicked on the flashlight.
The tactical flashlight’s beam was extrely concentrated, and the brightness was astonishing…
“Whoa!”
With a piercing scream, sothing splashed into the silt.
Before Ling Mo could see clearly, his tentacle shot out at the mont the monster hit the ground.
Thud thud thud!
As mud splattered, the monster’s cries ceased, but judging by the silt’s disturbance, it was rely unable to vocalize… Yet the “clang clang” sound persisted, and Xu Shuhan halted.
“Whoa!”
In less than a second, the monster raised half its body from the silt, fully exposed in the flashlight’s beam.
“Holy…” Ling Mo saw the monster’s true form for the first ti… And upon seeing it, he couldn’t help but curse.
He’d seen vicious-looking creatures before, but never one so vicious it was nauseating…
“No wonder it only showed its back… The front is practically a strategic weapon!”
