Then, with a sound like glass shattering, the cocoon exploded outward in a shower of harmless sparks.

Where Jessica had stood a small goblin child barely three feet tall now stood sothing else entirely.

A Hobgoblin.

She was easily four and a half feet tall now, her body lean and muscular in a way it hadn’t been before. Her green skin had darkened slightly, taking on a healthier tone. Her yellow eyes were sharper, more intelligent. Her hands, which had been small and weak, were now tipped with short but sturdy claws.

But most importantly, she looked strong. Like she could actually defend herself.

Jessica looked down at her hands, turning them over in wonder. "I’m... bigger." Her voice was slightly deeper, more mature. "Big brother, what happened to ?"

"You evolved," Satou said, breathing heavily from the mana drain. "You’re a Hobgoblin now. Stronger. Faster. Better able to protect yourself."

Jessica’s eyes filled with tears—but they weren’t sad tears. They were tears of joy and disbelief.

"I’m not weak anymore," she whispered.

Before Satou could respond, Kelvin tugged on his hand urgently.

" too, big brother! Do too!"

Satou smiled tiredly and placed his hand on Kelvin’s head.

"Your na," he said, feeling the skill activate once more, "will remain Kelvin. A na given with my hope that you’ll grow strong and protect those you love."

The process repeated.

Mana flowed out of Satou—another three points draining away, leaving him feeling lightheaded. The glowing threads wrapped around Kelvin, forming another cocoon of light. Inside, Kelvin’s form shifted and grew.

The light shattered.

Kelvin stood there, transford. Like his sister, he was now a Hobgoblin—taller, stronger, his child-like features replaced with sothing more mature and capable. His eyes glead with newfound strength.

"Whoa," Kelvin breathed, staring at his hands. "I feel... amazing!"

The siblings looked at each other, then at themselves, then burst into excited chatter.

"You’re so tall now!" Said Jessica

"So are you!" Said Kelvin

"Do you think we can fight now?" Said Jessica

"Let’s find out!" Said Kelvin

Satou smiled watching them, but his legs felt weak. Nine mana points spent. Six remaining. The drain was significant.

But the results were undeniable.

The cave had gone completely silent. Every goblin stared at the transford siblings with a mixture of awe, disbelief, and in so cases hunger for that sa power.

Gob stepped forward, his scarred face unreadable. He walked a slow circle around Jessica and Kelvin, examining them from every angle. Then he looked at Satou.

"They’re Hobgoblins," Gob said slowly. "You actually did it. You evolved them."

"I did," Satou confird.

"How many more can you na?" Said Gob

"Two," Satou admitted. "Then I’m out of mana. If I push beyond that, I’ll pass out. Maybe worse."

Gob nodded slowly, then to Satou’s surprise he knelt on one knee.

"Then I ask that you na please," Gob said. "I’m the strongest fighter we have left. If you make stronger, I can protect the others better."

Satou hadn’t expected that. He’d assud Gob would remain skeptical, would need more convincing.

But here he was, kneeling, asking for a na.

"You’re sure?" Satou asked.

"I’ve lived my whole life as ’Gob,’" the scarred goblin said quietly. "A joke of a na. ’Goblin.’ If you can give sothing better—sothing that ans I’m worth more than just another disposable grunt—then yes. I’m sure."

Satou felt a lump form in his throat. He placed his hand on Gob’s head.

"Your na," Satou said, channeling the skill once more, "will be Grimnir. A na of strength and resilience. May you beco an unbreakable shield for those who need you."

Three more points of mana drained away. The cocoon ford. The transformation began.

When the light faded, Grimnir stood—no longer just Gob, but sothing greater. He was massive now, nearly six feet tall, his muscles bulging beneath his skin. Scars that had marred his face seed almost like badges of honor now. His eyes burned with fierce determination.

He flexed his hands experintally, then picked up his axe. It looked almost small in his enlarged grip.

"This..." Grimnir’s voice was deeper, rougher. "This is incredible."

Three mana left. One more naming.

Satou scanned the remaining goblins. There was a female goblin near the back—one who’d fought bravely during the escape, who’d helped carry wounded despite her own injuries. She t his gaze and quickly looked away, as if embarrassed to even hope.

"You," Satou called out. "Co here."

The female goblin hesitated, then slowly approached. She was small even for a goblin, her body covered in cuts and bruises.

"What’s your designation?" Satou asked.

"Goba," she said quietly. "Female Goblin A."

Another joke na. Just like the rest.

Satou placed his hand on her head.

"Your na," he said, pouring the last of his mana into the skill, "will be Lyra. May you grow strong and wise, and may your voice be heard when others would silence you."

The final transformation completed. When the light faded, Lyra stood there—a Hobgoblin now, lean and graceful, her eyes intelligent and determined.

She looked at her hands in wonder, then at Satou.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Satou smiled tiredly. "You’re welco."

Then his legs gave out.

He collapsed to his knees, his vision swimming. Grimnir caught him before he could fall completely.

"Easy, kid," Grimnir said. "You overdid it."

"I’m... fine," Satou mumbled, though he clearly wasn’t. "Just... need to rest..."

[Warning: Mana depleted. User requires rest to recover.]

"Big brother!" Jessica and Kelvin rushed over, their new Hobgoblin bodies allowing them to move with surprising speed.

"I’m okay," Satou said, managing a weak smile. "Just tired. The naming... takes a lot out of ."

Grimnir carefully laid Satou down near the cave wall, using so torn cloth as a makeshift pillow.

"Rest," Grimnir ordered. "We’ll keep watch."

As Satou’s eyes began to close, he heard the other goblins whispering.

"Did you see that?"

"They beca Hobgoblins..."

"Maybe he really can save us..." said the other goblins

Satou’s last thought before sleep claid him was simple:

Four evolved. Twenty-one still weak. We need more mana. More nas. More strength.

But for now... this is enough.

His eyes closed, and darkness took him.
