My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill Chapter 389
Six hundred forty-three fighters against twenty-three hundred soldiers and four heroes.
Two days until Loki arrived.
One day until the worst battle of the war.
"We’ll hold," Lyra whispered to herself. "We have to."
—-----------------------------
Seraphina entered her prepared ritual space—a cleared room behind Third Line fortified with magical wards and protection circles.
Two ssages. Different recipients. Different purposes. But both critical.
She began with the ssage to Loki, knowing demon lord politics required careful phrasing.
Her hands moved through complex patterns, channeling demonic energy into visible forms. Purple light coalesced as she spoke the ritual words, encoding information into magical construct.
" Demon Lord Loki. Seraphina sends urgent update on settlent situation."
The magical construct took shape—a sphere of compressed energy containing encoded information.
"Commander Elric confird deploying all Four Heroes tomorrow. Second Line fell today despite heavy human casualties. Third Line incomplete, seventy-two percent fortification. Estimated hold ti against full assault with hero support: four to six hours maximum."
She compressed tactical details into the construct—force numbers, casualty counts, hero capabilities observed.
"Settlent defenders likely retreating to urban warfare by Day Four afternoon. Survival through Day Five uncertain. Your reinforcents arriving late Day Five afternoon may arrive to find settlent fallen."
Now the political framing Lyra had suggested.
"If settlent falls before your arrival, Church forces will fortify position as forward base. Strategic threat to your border. Recomnd maximum acceleration of march if possible. Every hour earlier arrival increases survival probability significantly."
She sealed the construct with Loki’s mana signature—the unique magical fingerprint she’d learned from their previous communications.
The sphere of purple energy condensed into a point of light, then shot upward through the ceiling, passing through physical matter into the ethereal plane. It would track Loki’s signature across distance, seeking him out specifically.
Six to eight hours travel ti. He’d receive it by dawn.
Seraphina rested briefly, recovering magical energy, then began the second ritual.
This one was harder emotionally. Satou didn’t know his settlent was under siege , that they had attacked earlier than planned. Didn’t know his people were dying. Didn’t know that everything he’d built over five years might be destroyed before he returned.
She created another magical construct, this one requiring even more care because of the distance involved and the emotional weight of the ssage.
"Satou. Seraphina sends urgent communication regarding siege situation."
The construct ford, purple energy swirling with encoded information.
"Church army under Commander Elric arrived Day One with four thousand soldiers and Four Heroes—week ahead of predicted schedule. Settlent currently under siege. First and Second Lines lost. Fortifying Third Line for Day Four battle."
She encoded the casualty details Lyra had requested.
"Three hundred thirty casualties total over three days. One hundred sixty-two killed, one hundred sixty-eight wounded. Defenders include: Grok the orc who held stairway alone for five minutes, killed eight. Pix the goblin archer who died with sixteen enemy kills. Thorgak who sacrificed himself to save eleven others. Many more who fought bravely."
"Current status: six hundred forty-three fighters defending Third Line. Two hundred corruption specialists supporting. Loki’s reinforcents arrive Day Five late afternoon—fifteen hundred fighters plus Loki himself. We attempt to hold until then."
Now the ssage Lyra had specifically requested.
" Lyra managing tactical operations. She has made difficult decisions prioritizing force preservation over territory. Fighting withdrawal from Second Line today saved the army from annihilation. She carries responsibility for six hundred lives with skill beyond her years."
"Human forces: twenty-three hundred soldiers remaining. Four Heroes deploying tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the worst day of this war. We will hold Third Line as long as possible, retreat to settlent core if necessary, and fight until reinforcents arrive or until we fall."
Seraphina paused, considering what else Satou needed to know.
"Your settlent has proven sothing important. Goblins, orcs, serpentfolk, demons—all fighting together for shared survival. The Church brought four thousand soldiers to destroy this. We have made them pay dearly for every inch. Six hundred eighty-four enemy dead. The Church will rember this settlent regardless of outco."
"If we fall before your return, know that your people fought with courage. They made you proud. And if we survive, we will have earned the right to continue what you built."
She sealed the construct with Satou’s mana signature—a signature she knew well from working with him over the months since arriving at the settlent.
The second sphere of light condensed and shot upward, seeking Satou across even greater distance.
Seraphina sat back, magically exhausted. Both ssages sent. Both traveling through the ethereal plane to their recipients.
Loki would receive his ssage by dawn. Might be able to accelerate his march, might not. But at least he’d know the desperation of the situation.
Satou would receive his ssage within a day or two, depending on how far his mission had taken him. He wouldn’t be able to return in ti—he was five days away. But he’d know. He’d know his settlent fought. He’d know his people didn’t surrender without a fight.
Seraphina erged from the ritual chamber, finding Lyra still standing watch over the fortifications.
"It’s done," Seraphina said quietly. "Both ssages sent. Loki should receive his by dawn. Satou within a day or two depending on distance."
Lyra turned, relief evident on her face. "Thank you."
"Now we wait. See if Loki can accelerate his march. See if Satou’s ssage reaches him in ti for him to know what happened here." Seraphina looked at the defensive positions. "And tomorrow, we fight. One more day. Then Loki arrives and everything changes."
"One more day," Lyra echoed.
They stood together in the darkness, two of them who’d done everything possible to prepare for tomorrow’s hell.
The ssages were sent.
The fortifications were as strong as ti allowed.
The defenders were as rested as circumstances permitted.
Tomorrow would bring four heroes and twenty-three hundred soldiers in maximum assault.
But tonight, they’d bought every advantage they could.
And sotis, that’s all command could do—make the right moves, send the right ssages, and hope it was enough.
