A massive magic circle appeared in the sky above the settlent—not the ground-based circle Elric’s mages had inscribed, but an aerial formation that manifested from dinsional rift.

The circle was enormous—half a mile in diater, golden-white light blazing with divine power that made the morning sun look dim by comparison.

And through that circle, power descended.

Not soldiers. Not weapons.

Pure divine energy, manifesting as golden-white light that poured down from the sky like waterfall of holy power.

The light struck the ground-based magic circle that Elric’s fifty spellcasters had inscribed overnight.

The two circles—aerial and terrestrial—connected.

Synchronized.

Activated in perfect harmony.

Golden-white light blazed across the entire battlefield, so bright that soldiers on both sides had to shield their eyes.

Elric felt the power manifesting and smiled with grim satisfaction.

Finally. Cathedral intervention. Divine power on battlefield scale.

With this, my victory is secured.

The light intensified, building toward sothing catastrophic, sothing overwhelming, sothing that would determine the battle’s outco with absolute finality.

Both armies—human and settlent—stopped fighting, staring at the blazing divine light filling the sky.

Waiting to see what would erge.

Waiting to see if this was salvation or annihilation.

Commander Elric stood at his command post, watching the light build.

"With this," he said aloud, his voice carrying absolute conviction, "my victory is secured."

—------------------

The golden-white light blazing from the aerial magic circle intensified until it seed reality itself was tearing open.

Then figures began descending through the divine radiance.

The first figure to erge made the very air vibrate with holy power.

He stood seven feet tall—not through physical height but through sheer presence that made him seem larger than his actual fra. His robes were pure white trimd with gold thread, marked with holy symbols that glowed with their own internal light. His face was ageless—he could have been forty or four hundred, wisdom and power making conventional age irrelevant.

But it was his eyes that truly commanded attention.

They glowed with soft golden light, not the harsh luminescence of magic but the steady radiance of absolute divine authority. When those eyes swept across the battlefield, soldiers on both sides felt their souls laid bare—every sin, every virtue, every mont of courage or cowardice exposed to perfect judgnt.

This was Archbishop Valentine, second in command of the entire Church hierarchy, subordinate only to the Pope himself.

And behind him, descending through the golden-white light in perfect military formation, ca an army.

Not the exhausted, bloodied soldiers Elric commanded.

Fresh troops. Elite forces. The Cathedral’s own military might.

Six thousand soldiers materialized through the dinsional rift, organized in disciplined battalions:

Two thousand Holy Knights - heavy cavalry mounted on warhorses blessed by Cathedral priests, their armor inscribed with holy symbols, their lances glowing with divine energy. These weren’t regular cavalry—they were elite warriors who’d trained their entire lives specifically to fight supernatural evil.

One thousand five hundred Magic Swordsn - warriors who combined blade work with holy magic, their swords crackling with divine lightning, their combat techniques blending physical prowess with supernatural power. Each one was worth three regular soldiers in combat effectiveness.

One thousand Battle Mages - spellcasters trained in offensive holy magic, capable of launching Divine Smites, Holy Storms, Purification Waves that could devastate demonic forces. Their staffs glowed with accumulated magical power.

Eight hundred Paladins - the Cathedral’s elite champions, warriors blessed with divine gifts that made them nearly as powerful as summoned heroes. They wore gleaming plate armor, carried blessed weapons, and radiated holy auras that suppressed demonic energy.

Five hundred Exorcist Priests - specialists in anti-demon warfare, trained specifically to counter demonic magic, dispel corruption, and purify contaminated ground. Their presence alone weakened supernatural evil.

One hundred Cathedral Clerics - master healers capable of battlefield healing on massive scale, their combined divine magic able to restore entire battalions from critical wounds.

And two hundred Cathedral Inquisitors - the Church’s most feared warriors, trained to hunt and eliminate supernatural threats with ruthless efficiency. They wore dark armor marked with silver holy symbols, carried weapons designed specifically to kill demons and monsters, and showed no rcy to anything tainted by darkness.

Each battalion carried banners—white flags emblazoned with golden holy symbols, Cathedral crests, and the insignia of the Church’s military might.

As the six thousand soldiers materialized and took formation, their collective divine presence created a pressure that rippled across the entire battlefield.

The settlent defenders felt it like physical weight—holy power pressing down on anything demonic or supernatural, weakening their strength, sapping their endurance.

The human soldiers on Elric’s side felt the opposite—divine blessing flowing through them, restoring stamina, healing minor wounds, filling them with renewed courage.

Commander Elric stood at his command post, watching Archbishop Valentine descend, and did the only appropriate thing.

He knelt before the Archbishop with absolute deference.

"Welco, Archbishop Valentine," Elric said, his voice carrying genuine respect mixed with relief. "I did not expect you to co personally when I requested reinforcent."

Archbishop Valentine descended the final distance to ground level, his feet touching earth with gentle precision despite his imposing presence.

When he spoke, his voice was... relaxed. Almost casual. Like soone discussing weather rather than arriving at brutal battlefield where over a thousand soldiers had already died.

"Commander Elric. You may rise."

Elric stood, noting the Archbishop’s completely calm deanor. No tension. No urgency. Just perfect serenity despite the chaos surrounding them.

"I heard of Demon Lord Seraphina’s involvent in this war," Valentine continued, his tone conversational, "and I decided this is the ti for us to end her. The Cathedral Council has tolerated her existence for too long. She’s evaded our hunters, avoided direct confrontation, hidden in Demon Lord Loki’s territory where we couldn’t easily reach her. But now..."

He gestured toward the battlefield where Seraphina was fighting half a mile away.

"...she’s committed herself to defending this settlent. She’s exposed herself. Trapped herself in a tactical situation she can’t easily escape. This is the opportunity we’ve been waiting for."

Valentine’s casual tone discussing a demon lord’s execution was sohow more unsettling than if he’d been angry or intense. He spoke about killing Seraphina the way soone might discuss shopping lists.
