"Take this! And this! And this too! Die, asshole!"
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Mia rains down one scythe strike after another on Chris, giving him no chance to breathe.
Even with his Innatus active, he's struggling to keep up. He can't block most of Mia's attacks, and they end up crashing against his durable bone armor.
It's the first ti Chris has been pushed this hard by her.
Normally, during training, Chris keeps his Innatus active to condition his body and improve his control over it.
Mia, on the other hand, fights without using the Tear of Azkarith to avoid seriously injuring him by accident.
Under those conditions, they're more or less evenly matched.
Now, however, Mia is completely overwhelming him.
More than a training match, Chris looks like a punching bag Mia is using to vent her frustration.
"M-Mia... what the hell is wrong with you tonight?! You're completely insane!" Chris exclaims, his bone armor badly cracked in several places.
"Can't you see? We're training! Now shut up and let beat the crap out of you!"
If she showed this much spirit against our enemies, she'd send them all running for their lives! Seriously... what the hell did I do this ti? That girl is seriously weird...
The others are training too on one of the hills in the Tama area.
Ren and Yuzu against Leon and Zaira.
They chose a team battle because the gap in strength makes balanced one-on-one matches impossible.
During that month of training, Mia and Chris proved to be the strongest, which is why they always train together.
Right below them is Ren. However, he refused to use Paralysis Magic to avoid causing serious injuries. So, just like Mia, he's never truly fought at full strength during training.
A step below Ren are Zaira and Leon, whose strength is roughly equal.
Yuzu, on the other hand, is by far the weakest of the group.
That's due to both her young age and the fact that she'd never trained seriously before.
"Zaira, cover ! I have a plan!" Leon shouts, creating a new blood rapier to replace the one that was destroyed earlier.
"You? Having a plan? Well, we're definitely in good hands..." Zaira mutters sarcastically.
Leon makes a series of hand signs at Zaira, and she nods.
After a month of training side by side and getting beaten by Ren every single ti, Leon and Zaira had co up with a secret sign language out of sheer desperation. So far, though, it hadn't helped much.
After finishing the gestures, Leon charges at Ren.
A mont later, Zaira fires an energy sphere right behind him.
The vampire thrusts his rapier at Ren when...
BOOM!
Zaira's spell hits him in the back and explodes in a violent blast of energy, sending Leon flying through the air.
The vampire gets back to his feet, using his rapier for support.
He's badly injured, but the wounds quickly begin to heal.
"Z-Zaira... are you freaking stupid?! Why the hell did you attack ?!" Leon snaps.
"You idiot, you're the one who signaled for that attack formation where you use your body to hide my attack and move aside at the last second!"
"What are you talking about?! The plan was for you to fly up and attack Ren from above! We spent an entire week reviewing which signs matched each attack formation. How the hell did you get it wrong?!"
"WHAAAAT?! You seriously have the nerve to bla ? I rember them perfectly! You're the one who forgot the signs you ca up with in the first place!"
Yuzu, crouched at the foot of a tree from exhaustion, bursts into loud laughter at the sight of them bickering like that.
Ren, on the other hand, simply shakes his head in exasperation.
For their sake, I hope they never have to fight side by side against a real enemy...
"Alright, new plan. I'll attack, and you stay right there and watch. At least you won't cause any damage!" Leon says.
"I'll be more than happy to watch you get your ass kicked, you forgetful idiot!"
Leon takes up his fighting stance again and points his weapon at Ren.
"Now that I don't have that airhead getting in my way, we can finally get serious! Get ready, Ren — here I co!"
A crimson aura wraps around Leon's body.
He lowers himself and launches at his target.
Ren grips his purple energy sword tightly, ready to defend himself from his friend's assault, when...
BAM!
A flying body slams into Leon, sending both of them hurtling away and crashing through three tree trunks in a row.
"C-Chris... are you seriously joining in now too?! And get your ass off !" Leon snaps.
"I didn't do it on purpose!" Chris shoots back, groaning in pain and no longer protected by his Innatus.
A mont earlier, Mia had shattered his armor with a powerful scythe strike, and the impact had sent Chris flying.
As luck would have it, Leon happened to be right in his flight path.
Ren lets out yet another weary sigh, while Yuzu bursts out laughing so hard her stomach starts cramping.
A mont later, Mia reaches them with her scythe clenched in her hand.
Her murderous gaze is locked on Chris, and a violent crimson storm swirls around her, so intense that it uproots the nearby trees.
"Co on, you stupid pervert! Get back on your feet! I'm not done with you yet!"
"Don't tell you pissed her off again. You really are the world's worst brother..." Leon comnts, moving as far away from Chris as possible to avoid getting caught in Mia's fury.
"I seriously didn't do anything this ti! She got mad for no reason!"
"I believe you..."
Chris gets back to his feet and quickly slips behind Ren.
"Please, buddy, protect !"
Ren gives him an amused look.
"Damn, Chris, that girl is really into you..." he mutters under his breath.
"You've got quite the imagination, don't you?"
"You really don't know much about girls, do you? The reason she wants to beat the crap out of you is because she's into you."
"Imagine how she'd treat if she hated ..."
