The Huguang Governor’s Mansion had strict and well-established rules. Upon entering through the gates, guests were carried on sedans towards the front courtyard—a smooth ride without a single jolt. Reaching their designated courtyard, they found it presented with understated elegance and grandeur. Qin Liuxi inwardly sighed at the exquisite opulence of the aristocracy, which was by no ans a façade.

Qin Liuxi’s party arrived at around noon, first eting with Lu Xun’s aunt, Mrs. Wei, before Wei Ren joined them for a lunch followed by a midday rest. As for dical consultations, they would naturally wait until after her rest before heading to the back courtyard.

Lu Xun did not rest at noon but instead joined Wei Ren for tea and conversation in another courtyard.

After Lu Xun’s aunt married Wei Tongfang, her status rose with her husband’s. She gave birth to two sons and a daughter. Wei Ren, the legitimate eldest son, married into the Bai Family, and they had been joyfully married for three years with a son born to them. However, Mrs. Bai had been feeling uneasy before giving birth, and her condition worsened into a convulsive disorder postpartum. Although she sotis recovered after seeing doctors, her condition frequently relapsed, casting a shadow over her disposition, and the couple’s relationship was no longer as close as it once was.

Seeing his cousin, who was half a year younger than himself, with dark circles under his eyes and a certain gloominess between his brows, Lu Xun comforted him, "The Junior Temple Master is highly skilled in dicine. Rest assured, she will certainly be able to cure your wife. Once she’s better, spend more ti with her. Talking things out can do wonders."

Wei Ren chuckled, "There you go, consoling even though you’re not even married. It’s been three years since Miss Lan left, and there’s no rule saying you have to remain single for an unmarried fiancée. You really should get married, don’t you think? The Princess must be getting anxious."

Lu Xun lowered his gaze, saying, "It should be soon. The Saint is currently selecting show girls, and my mother intends to pick a maiden from among them."

Wei Ren paused for a mont, then said, "That would be good." He then changed the subject, "You really hold this Junior Temple Master in high esteem. Is she as miraculous as you claim?"

"My own ailnts were cured by her," Lu Xun confidently smiled, but then, rembering that Qin Liuxi was not an Immortal, he added cautiously, "Of course, although she is a Daoist doctor, she is not an Immortal and cannot resurrect the dead. There are people and diseases she cannot cure. If she believes your wife’s condition is treatable, she will surely do her utmost and be honest with you."

Wei Ren could tell that Lu Xun was reserving judgnt to protect Qin Liuxi, and he gave him a speculating look. Was he defending that female crown?

"Cousin, that female crown looks very dignified. You..."

Lu Xun was startled, then his ears turned blazing red as he said hastily, "What nonsense are you talking about? It’s not what you think it is!"

Wei Ren laughed teasingly.

"Don’t laugh like that. And don’t you dare be frivolous or disrespectful in front of the Junior Temple Master," Lu Xun warned sternly. "If you anger her, I won’t be able to help you. She is not like the ordinary nuns from temples; she has real skills."

Wei Ren, seeing his earnest expression, replied, "Don’t worry, I know what to say and when to say it. We’re just chatting amongst ourselves here."

At that mont, a servant arrived, stating that Wei Tongfang was asking for Lu Xun to co over for a discussion.

After her midday rest, Qin Liuxi saw it was ti and sent for a servant, opting for an early consultation.

The servant quickly went to convey the ssage, and soon, Wei Ren personally ca to escort them to the inner courtyard.

Before they had reached his own courtyard, they saw a servant woman running out in a panic. Recognizing her as aservant from his and his wife’s courtyard, Wei Ren called out, "Stop right there! What’s the rush?"

The servant woman noticed him, knelt down swiftly, and reported, "Master, Granny has had another attack. I am going to seek the house doctor."

Wei Ren’s face changed color and he turned to look at Qin Liuxi.

"Lead the way," she said.

"Follow ," Wei Ren instructed. He then ordered the servant woman, "Inform my mother to take charge, and have the house doctor co to assist."

Perhaps worried about his wife’s illness, Wei Ren, who was tall with long legs, walked rapidly; Qin Liuxi had no choice but to quicken her pace as well.

Upon entering the Shaonian Courtyard, they saw chaos ensuing, accompanied by the loud cries of an infant.

Wei Ren chided, "What’s the panic?"

He saw the wet nurse comforting his son, who was crying as if his heart was being torn apart, under the house porch and frowned, saying, "Why are you still holding Chong’er here? Why not take him for a walk in the garden to calm him down?"

The wet nurse, her face pale and scolded into confusion, almost fell to the ground, her legs giving way as she stepped down.

Qin Liuxi, with quick eyes and hands, supported her and said, "Slow down."

"Thank you," the wet nurse said, still frightened.

Qin Liuxi then looked at the tiny infant who was crying with a flushed face, as if he couldn’t catch his breath, and gently brushed his forehead with her hand, saying, "There, there, don’t cry."

A magical mont occurred - the child, who had been crying out loudly, seed to understand and gradually quieted down, sniffling softly with tears in his eyes, looking extrely pitiful.

"This, this..." the wet nurse looked at Qin Liuxi in surprise.

Even Wei Ren was sowhat astonished; he knew his own son, a youngster who could cry for a long while once he started, but he stopped just because Qin Liuxi said a word?

Such a truly talented woman!

His cousin’s words still echoed in his ears.

Qin Liuxi looked at the sowhat frail little guy and the dark circles under his eyelids and said, "This child seems to have a weak spleen, which makes him easily frightened. He must have been scared just now."

"Yes, that’s right," the wet nurse replied. "Granny was playing with the young master when he suddenly fell ill and then..."

Qin Liuxi placed a peace charm on the chest of his clothing, and amidst the exclamations inside, she said to Wei Ren, "Let’s check on Granny first."

"Junior Temple Master, please this way," Wei Ren’s tone beca much more respectful.

The inside of the house was even more chaotic than outside, with several maidservants and servants holding down a young woman in disarray.

"The master has co."

Wei Ren strode forward with a stern voice, scolded, "Make way."

The maidservants and servants all stepped aside to reveal the condition of the woman; Qin Liuxi also stepped forward and knew what was going on at a glance.

Convulsions in the limbs, a crooked mouth that couldn’t speak, opisthotonos – this was a seizure.

Qin Liuxi took out a silver needle from her waist, stepped forward, and said, "Excuse ."

It was only after Wei Ren glanced that he saw she was holding three silver needles between her fingertips. As soon as her words fell, the silver needles found their way into several of his wife’s acupoints.

The Bai Family lady’s body shook slightly but soon cald down; her body stopped twitching, and the arched back gradually relaxed.

Wei Ren was overjoyed in his heart; his cousin had not exaggerated; she was truly skilled.

The illness ca quickly, and it also cald quickly, but after the intense episode, the Bai Family lady was covered in sweat on her forehead and back. Her face looked a bit pale, and her eyes were red. Upon seeing Wei Ren, her eyes reddened further, expressing pain.

She despised herself for having such an illness, sotis wishing she could die instead of enduring such recurring tornt, yet she couldn’t bear to leave her young child behind.

Wei Ren held her hand and wiped the sweat from her forehead with his sleeve, saying, "Wife, don’t be afraid. Didn’t my cousin invite the Divine Doctor for us? You will get better. Look, this is the Junior Temple Master."
