[Fire Cannon].

Kain could only try.

The temperature around him surged wildly, especially around his hands. Unexpectedly, Kain pressed his hand to the ground, directly unleashing the recently activated magic skill into the earth instead of attacking Cody.

Cody hadn’t yet understood the aning of Kain’s action when he saw the ground beneath him turn molten red, like charcoal burning in a furnace. Smoke billowed, and then, the ground exploded, shattering into a massive sinkhole.

The entire ground turned into a viscous, molten mass, causing the Golem’s feet to imdiately sink into it. Cody’s expression changed. He was about to leap out when Kain shouted,

"ra!"

Almost imdiately after, a powerful gust of wind slamd down, montarily stiffening the Golem’s movents and pinning it in place. Seizing this opportunity, Kain continued to release magic, but instead of directly targeting Cody, Kain placed his hand on the ground once more.

[Fire Cannon].

Again, Cody hadn’t yet discovered what Kain was truly aiming for, but his intuition seed to be warning him of sothing terrible.

"No, I can’t let this happen! No matter what it is!"

Driven by a daring intuition, Cody surged forward, the Golem’s colossal body breaking through its binding restraints and charging towards Kain like a raging buffalo. Imdiately after, Kain’s magic was activated again; another huge explosion from [Fire Cannon] appeared, but its power was concentrated downwards into the ground, making the entire area around his feet intensely hot.

The Golem’s feet once again sank into the earth.

Although this didn’t significantly affect Cody, it was ultimately like walking through water that was knee-deep, extrely inconvenient.

"So that’s it, he wants to slow down?" Cody thought to himself, and felt that this was correct, as Kain’s actions seed to have no other effect than making his movent slightly more difficult.

However, ra, looking down from above, widened her eyes in surprise; she seed to have realized sothing.

"How is this even possible..."

ra was utterly surprised, but her movents didn’t slow down at all. She knew that now was when Kain needed her.

Below, on the ground, Kain faced Cody. Around him, a flurry of large fireballs suddenly appeared, hurtling madly towards Cody. This ti, he had finally chosen the right target.

[Fire Blast].

The Golem shielded its face with its massive hands, inwardly thinking it just needed to withstand this wave of Kain’s attack.

But suddenly, Kain spoke.

"You know, I actually already found your weakness."

Kain’s calm statent sent a terrible premonition through Cody.

"No way, how could I have a weakness?" Cody vehently reassured himself.

However, Kain had indeed found his weakness.

A powerful, super-regenerative, incredibly tough prey that feels no pain is certainly terrifying. Yet, this can also be considered a hidden flaw.

Especially regarding the lack of pain.

Living organisms possess pain recognition chanisms in their nervous systems to help them survive better. Pain is, of course, terrifying. But lacking pain can be even more terrifying, because you wouldn’t know what’s truly dangerous.

For instance, a person who can’t feel pain might accidentally press their body against sothing hot. Because they feel no pain, they won’t perceive that part of their body being burned and destroyed. They’d only realize it when they sll burning flesh and skin.

Here, Cody faced a similar situation.

After realizing he shouldn’t be affected by Kain’s seemingly baseless words, Cody surged forward. Ignoring the attacks, he charged with the intent to eliminate Kain.

In response, Kain simply closed his eyes, as if he had given up resisting, even though Cody’s current speed, as he waded through the molten ground, would have allowed him to continue dodging.

This stunned Cody.

But in the very next mont, he felt dizzy.

It was then that Kain opened his eyes again.

"Distraction is a common fault in many people."

"Because we, apart from when we sleep, are constantly receiving countless pieces of information and stimuli from the outside world. From the ambient temperature, the light and scenery reflecting into our eyes, the continuous stream of thoughts... we simply filter out most of this information, focusing only on what we want to pay attention to, or what causes an overwhelmingly strong stimulus."

"In other words, most of our perception is controlled by our minds."

"That’s also why I attracted your attention."

As Kain finished speaking, the Golem’s colossal body collapsed with a clean, sharp cut across its middle.

The one who delivered the blow was ra, and evidently, this was an [Air Slash] attack that she had ticulously prepared.

So how did ra’s attack manage to cut through Cody’s armor? Wasn’t his armor incredibly tough and capable of unlimited regeneration?

The answer lies in the environnt.

To continuously regenerate his armor, Cody drew minute soil particles from the ground beneath his feet to replenish damaged sections.

This is precisely why Kain put in the effort to lt the ground. Because now, the earth had been transford by high temperatures into molten lava. And molten lava, when added to the armor, couldn’t solidify imdiately.

Simultaneously, Kain continued his attacks, forcing Cody to draw even more molten lava into his armor, causing the Golem’s protective shell to beco progressively softer.

However, Cody didn’t realize this because, as ntioned, he felt nothing.

Adding to this, Kain deliberately used his actions and words to distract and mislead Cody, causing him to ignore his intuition’s warnings. He paid no attention to the fact that his seemingly invincible state was, in reality, being severely compromised.

And so, in the end, ra delivered a perfect cut, slicing straight through Cody’s softened armor and Golem body.

If not for this being a battle protected by an invincible shield, Cody would have been dead.

Finally, under the gazes of Kain and ra, Cody dissipated and was teleported off the arena floor.

ra let out a breath and looked at Kain, unable to help but ask,

"Hey Kain, did that guy really get distracted and misled that easily?"

Despite the clear outco, ra couldn’t shake a sense of unreality. Such a formidable opponent, not much weaker than Cecilia, had been dealt with so quickly, leaving her montarily speechless.
