Being a detective is just a noun, but when it’s ntioned with Li Zijun, it seems to beco a verb.

The first few tis, Li Zijun was a bit slow to catch on, but after he said it a couple of tis, the once simple Sister Jun was able to understand in seconds.

Of course, it’s not to say she’s simple; after all, she’s a detective and has seen far more of the world than the average person. From fugitives to murderers, to prostitution rings and gambling dens, she’s seen it all.

So scenes were downright unsightly, with people not even dressed properly, storming in together.

Take this ti for example, capturing Zhou Tao and his crew. Their videos were reviewed by the police, sorted out, and no one was surprised anymore. She wasn’t simply a naive person; on the contrary, her learning and adaptability were extrely impressive.

Watching his apprentice bully the newcor, Lin Chengcai was full of satisfaction, thinking how wonderful it is to be young!

"Hurry up, what are you looking at? Let’s go!" Li Zijun gave him a push, eyes glaring.

In response, Su Qing was too angry to speak, having been retaliated against for his earlier comnt. He was currently holding his long, straight, and hard stick, poking around the grass.

It’s really just a stick, not the kind that an old pervert would imagine. In such thick grass, especially in sumr, it’s best to have a stick because who knows what’s hiding in there.

Caterpillars and beetles are the least of it. If a snake shows up, it’s over. He is most afraid of snakes, those wiggly creatures, even fearing large loaches and eels.

It’s not genuine fear, just a physiological reaction. As long as he sees a snake, even through a phone screen, his whole body feels uncomfortable.

Also, the terrain here is quite low, and it had just rained a few days ago. Much of the ground was still wet, extrely humid, and in this weather, there were indeed many toads. If you don’t clear the grass first, you might accidentally step on one and burst it, which is chilling to even imagine.

Finally, after walking for half an hour, the three of them arrived at the so-called orchard. The surrounding weeds were overgrown, and the path was no longer visible. They could only vaguely tell the path based on the terrain, making it clear no one had been here for a long ti.

Even the ground, which used to be a path, was covered in grass.

You must know, if a road is often traveled, the soil will harden, and even if grass grows, it will look different from other areas. But here, you can hardly see any path.

Moreover, calling it an orchard was a stretch. It was nothing like the orchards seen on TV, just so pear trees, apricot trees, and jujube trees planted haphazardly. It was clear this wasn’t a deliberately planned orchard; the land was just not suitable for crops, so they planted fruit trees instead.

"Master, can we really find any clues searching like this?" Li Zijun asked, following Su Qing.

"I don’t know, but if I were the murderer, this would be the perfect spot to strike. Look, even we don’t want to co here," Lin Chengcai said with a smile.

As he spoke, he scanned the surroundings, realizing this was indeed a great spot. If it had been three months prior, it would be spring, with flowers blooming and a fragrant landscape.

And the grass wouldn’t have been as tall as it was now, making it much easier to walk through, so he increasingly felt this place was possible.

After about an hour of walking, they finally reached the foot of the mountain, with a distinct boundary ahead—the difference between man-planted and wild trees.

At that mont, a building ca into view for the three of them.

It was an earth house standing alone on an open ground, long abandoned, with half of it even collapsed. Most notably, from a distance, they could see the darkened traces of fire on the mud walls.

At this mont, all three couldn’t help but feel a tremor in their hearts. They exchanged glances and imdiately sprinted toward the dilapidated earth house.

Soon, as they got closer, they discovered it wasn’t large at all—about ten square ters in total, four ters long and three ters wide.

Inside, there was only a kang (a type of stove bed). The collapsed roof had a wooden beam as thick as an arm sticking out. In the middle of the kang, there was a pit with traces of burning. The walls inside the house were all blackened by fire, suggesting it caught fire years ago.

"This... Master... look at this..." Li Zijun said excitedly.

At this mont, Lin Chengcai nodded, speaking in a deep voice, "Can’t be sure yet, but it’s highly possible!"

Though there were no traces of a body or bloodstains, there were several spots inside the house that looked like they’d been damaged by external force, and these marks weren’t old.

A narration popped up in Su Qing’s mind.

[Location of dismbernt: The killer murdered in the orchard, dragged the body here, hid it in the kang, and dismbered it amidst a storm the next night. To avoid exposure, they scraped off all blood traces on the walls with an axe, then turned all the bloody dirt over.]

[Evidence: There’s a bone fragnt about a ter from your left foot!]

Upon realizing this, Su Qing took a deep breath. Zhang Heng was sothing else; he’d left nothing uncovered.

The next night, amidst rain, the killer dismbered and disposed of the body, also knowing how to handle the scene. Without that narration, he wouldn’t dare confirm.

At this mont, the two detective apprentice masters efficiently put on gloves and began examining everything. Just then, Su Qing’s voice sounded: "Captain Lin, stop searching, call for backup. This is it!"

Both were startled upon hearing this.

"What did you find?" Lin Chengcai directly asked.

In response, Su Qing pointed to a small bone fragnt at his feet, about the size of a fingertip, and said, "Found this. Looks like a human bone!"

Old Lin held the bone fragnt in his gloved hand. It was just a small piece and he couldn’t really tell if it was a human bone. Luckily, they had a forensic expert.

He snapped a photo and sent it to Zhou Ning. Zhou Ning called back shortly.

"Captain Lin, the bone in your photo is most likely a human finger bone. This falls under forensic anthropology. Finger bones are among the bones with a unique shape in humans. However, to be certain, you should bring the bone in for to take a closer look."

"Xiao Zhou, just based on the photo, what do you think the probability is that it’s a human bone?"

"Over 90%. If I could see the actual bone, I could confirm it for sure," Zhou Ning’s voice ca through the phone.

Hearing this, Old Lin clenched his fist excitedly and stomped his foot in anticipation: "That’s enough! Okay, I’ll have soone bring it over imdiately. Talk to you later!"

He hung up the phone without waiting for Zhou Ning to respond. A 90% probability—how is that different from a confirmation?

"Xiao Li, inform everyone to stop searching. Tell them to all head to Fendong Village!"

"Yes, Master!"

"Xiao Su, call Lao Zhao and the others, tell them to co over quickly. Also, have him contact the experts to bring their equipnt here. There must be clues in this place. If there were a lot of blood traces here, we can detect them even if it rained. I don’t believe he cleaned everything up so thoroughly!"

"Got it, Captain Zhao!"

In less than ten minutes, everyone out in the field received orders to head to Fendong Village. Lao Zhao and Du Qiang were rushing over in a hurry.

After working hard for so long, they’d finally found a significant clue.

anwhile, at the cottage in the countryside, it was quite lively at the old landlady’s ho.

Inside the house, it was relatively calm. Wen Nanqing was lying comfortably on the sofa, not needing to watch the little ones, and als were being prepared. But in the courtyard, it was utter chaos.

At this mont, the little girl stood with a broom alongside Da Huang, while an angry hen faced them from the opposite side.

At Da Huang’s feet was a broken egg, the egg white and yolk already devoured.

"Shoo, get away, Da Huang don’t be afraid, I’ll protect you!" The little girl waved the broom to scare the hen.

Apparently, after Da Huang ca to the countryside, he imdiately got excited and went to steal eggs, only to be chased back by a chicken.

"Woof woof" [Co on, am I scared of it? Can it even catch ? Stay back, don’t get hurt by accident. After all, your intention is good!]

Feeling soone had his back, Da Huang beca even more audacious, circling the hen and barking, "Woof woof woof, awoo~"

[I didn’t steal your basketball, it’s just one egg, is it that serious? I’ll give you a basketball tomorrow, or maybe a volleyball. If not, well, no, not a soccer ball, it didn’t make the World Cup, lost to the county team even, can’t buy that.]

[Don’t be so harsh, I’m sincerely here, I only ate an egg. Can’t the new neighbor get a welco gift?]

[Can you catch ? You’re glaring and craning your neck, anyone who doesn’t know might think you’re so kind of leader.]

[Hey! You dropped your egg!]

[Can you catch , co on then!]

Soon enough, Da Huang chased the hen out as the little girl looked on with concern.

"Granddaughter, co inside for dinner!" Grandma Wen called out.

"Grandma, Da Huang ran out, won’t he get beaten?"

"Silly girl, how could a dog not manage a chicken, don’t worry, Da Huang will be back soon!"

Hearing this, the little girl was half doubting and half believing as she went inside to prepare to eat.

But just as the family sat down to eat, they heard Da Huang’s pitiful cries from outside. Soone who didn’t know might’ve thought the dog was being stolen.

Upon checking outside, everyone laughed, seeing Da Huang being thoroughly thrashed by two large white geese.

The next mont, the little girl grabbed the broom and dashed forward.

"Don’t bully Da Huang, co at instead!"

One has to admit, Da Huang picked a great little buddy, huh!
