Downstairs, Su Qing and Li Zijun stood side by side, and the atmosphere between them was a bit awkward.

"Little uncle? Su Qing, you're quite sothing, always surrounded by admirers. What's the deal with this young lady? What, are you thinking about becoming a dad?" Li Zijun raised her eyebrows and asked.

Hearing this, Su Qing was speechless and quickly explained, "No way, it's my landlord, her daughter ca over to play with Da Huang."

Li Zijun shook her head with a smile, "Co on, she's so pretty, you wouldn't even think she's had a child. The little girl is so cute. If you get with her, you'll save a lot of trouble."

"Sister Zijun, stop joking. Soone like her, who has no shortage of money, wouldn't be interested in soone who has a kid, let alone soone like ." Su Qing smiled bitterly.

Back to five minutes ago.

As soon as the little girl said, 'There's another woman in little uncle's house,' the atmosphere in the room turned awkward.

In the end, he had to smooth things over, introducing the two to each other, and fortunately, Li Zijun also had to leave, so she casually greeted Wen Nanqing.

"It's okay, I was just about to leave anyway, you two talk."

Wen Nanqing blushed and pulled Wen Yun along, waving repeatedly, "No, no, we were intruding. We'll co back another day."

In the end, it was the little girl who wouldn't relent, insisting on playing with Da Huang. Wen Nanqing was at a loss, neither able to leave nor suitable to enter the room, so Su Qing invited the mother and daughter inside, called Da Huang down from the second floor, and then went downstairs to see Li Zijun off.

It seed like nothing major, but behind the scenes, a voiceover was frantically narrating their internal thoughts.

[The dashing policewoman senses sothing amiss about the landlord lady's visit, her instincts as a detective making her suspicious of ulterior motives.]

[The virtuous and kind-hearted landlord lady is wary of the sudden appearance of another woman in your room, feeling a hint of hostility.]

[The small but mischievous Wen Yun is confused why little uncle's house doesn't have little aunt in it.]

[Da Huang, who doesn't even think he's a dog, has t his lifelong nesis and feels hopeless about his dog life.]

Various voiceovers ca one after another. So made sense to him, others were a mystery. It was all quite chaotic and definitely not as calm as it seed.

"Alright, enough teasing. But seriously, you should avoid getting involved with won with kids. Don't ss around with them, okay?" Li Zijun advised.

She saw Su Qing as a younger brother. After all, they'd grown up together, and she couldn't just watch him get entangled with a woman with a child. If her husband found out, it would be hard to explain away, and Su Qing might end up getting beaten up.

She'd encountered this sort of thing often at the police station—husbands working away from ho, wives cheating, getting caught, and then things getting violent. She didn't want Su Qing to go down that path.

"How could I be that kind of person who looks like they enjoy ssing around?" Su Qing said helplessly.

Hearing this, Li Zijun stared at him for a while, "I hope so. I'm leaving, I'll check in with Master. Keep up the good work."

With that, the dashing policewoman sister strode away towards the neighborhood gate without looking back, having a hunch that her brother could not stay long here.

When he returned upstairs, he saw the little girl perched on Da Huang, giggling as she tugged his ears.

anwhile, Da Huang lay on the ground, looking lifeless, tongue out, letting the little miss do whatever she wanted.

"Little Su, I'm sorry, I didn't know you had guests today," the landlord lady quickly apologized upon seeing him return.

Hearing this, Su Qing waved his hand with a smile, "No worries, she was leaving anyway, so it's not a big deal."

Then he looked at the duo with the dog and continued, "They're getting along quite well, aren't they? By the way, Ms. Wen, would you like sothing to drink?"

Hearing this, Wen Nanqing first smiled and then quickly replied, "No need to trouble yourself, little Su, I'm not thirsty."

"I had no choice but to let her play. Hey, should I get a dog too? Though, not every dog is as well-behaved as yours."

Seeing her daughter liking the big dog, she was tempted, but then thought if the dog didn't behave, and bit her daughter, it wouldn't be good.

Su Qing poured her a glass of water with a smile, "It's best not to keep dogs when there are kids around—bad for the dogs."

Wen Nanqing covered her mouth, smiling lightly, and asked, "Who was that girl just now? She's so pretty, with an amazing aura."

Li Zijun had a very distinctive aura, being a police officer with a strong presence, but was also very beautiful, leaving a deep impression on people.

"She's my sister... she, um, works as a police officer," Su Qing replied nonchalantly, though he was pondering inside.

The landlord lady and Li Zijun should be eting for the first ti; why was she so guarded, even hostile?

"A police officer, no wonder, but you two don't look like actual siblings, you look nothing alike," Wen Nanqing laughed lightly.

[The virtuous and kind-hearted landlord lady is intentionally or unintentionally trying to probe into your relationship with Li Zijun.]

Hearing the voiceover in his head, Su Qing frowned slightly, puzzled. What use could knowing more about Li Zijun be to her? Was she really interested in him?

But he still responded truthfully, "No, we're not blood-related. Our families are close, and we've lived in the sa neighborhood for decades."

Hearing this, Wen Nanqing nodded, understanding, but couldn't help worrying about Shen Yi, wondering what he was up to, and fearing if he didn't co back soon, his ho would be stolen.

"I knew it, childhood sweethearts!"

"No, I got beaten up a lot as a kid, don't say that."

The two chatted while watching the girl and dog play in the living room. The little girl was dismantling Da Huang's kennel, and Da Huang watched tearily, occasionally having to make sure she didn't fall or get hurt, his little heart full of worry.

At 8:30 p.m., after about two hours of chaos, the little girl was finally taken away.

Downstairs.

"Goodbye, uncle! Goodbye, doggie!" The little girl waved back at him and Da Huang.

And Da Huang, with his head down and tongue out, barked once at him.

"Woof" [Next ti she's here, you play the dog!]

Hearing this, Su Qing raised his eyebrows and then grabbed the dog's face, chiding, "Lai Fu, do you think I know martial arts?"

Da Huang: ???

The next second, its big head was held in both hands and aggressively petted.

"Woof woof... owww~~~ah"

anwhile, Wen Nanqing, having just returned ho, called Shen Yi and recounted the story of the woman visiting Su Qing's place.

On the other end of the phone, Shen Yi sounded quite calm.

"I know, I've seen the woman you ntioned."

Hearing this, Wen Nanqing beca more anxious and shouted into the phone, "You know and you haven't acted on it? This ti I bumped into her, but what about next ti?"

"Also, what have you been up to the past few days? If you don't co back soon, your little man might be taken away."

To this, Shen Yi laughed over the phone, "As long as you don't try to steal him away, he won't be going anywhere. I should be back by tomorrow, don't worry."

Wen Nanqing: "Go on, I'm not as perverse as you, always targeting the young ones."

After they hung up, in a hotel in the capital, Shen Yi glanced at Su Qing's WeChat on the phone, murmuring,

"I can't take it anymore; it's ti to recharge. This ti, I'm taking the power source with !"
