(If you seek the thod of immortality, you must read this chapter!)

[Author's Note: This extra content is unrelated to the main storyline. I had a half-written draft sitting in my folder for a long ti. While inspiration still lingers, I quickly finished writing it.]

“Ding-dong!”

The sound of a phone notification startled awake from my sleep.

It took nearly half a minute to calm my racing heart. I picked up my phone and glanced at the ti.

2:30 AM.

“Damn it! Who would be ssaging at this hour? It must be that old bastard, Zhang Yaobin!”

Cursing in my heart, I opened [Tencent], and sure enough—

“Li Yang, check your email. Write a research report based on the attached data, around 30,000 words. Due by noon tomorrow.”

The text was accompanied by Zhang Yaobin’s leering profile picture, making my eyelids twitch and my blood pressure spike.

I ntally cursed his ancestors for eight generations, but my fingers still moved on their own, typing a reply.

“Got it, boss!”

I let out a long sigh.

“No choice—this is the advisor I’m stuck with. Just bear with it a little longer. Once this paper gets published, I can finally graduate.”

“Out of the six reviewers, four are Zhang Yaobin’s friends. Whether my paper passes review or not is entirely up to him. Until then, I’ll be nothing more than his overworked lackey.”

Grumbling internally, I opened my email, downloaded the attachnt, and extracted the files.

‘Defy the laws of heaven and earth to attain immortality…’

“What the hell?”

All traces of sleep vanished. I adjusted my posture and stared intently at the images on my screen.

Half a month ago, sothing strange happened in the Baise area of Southern Hunan Province. A thousand-ter-high mountain split apart, revealing a cliff face as smooth as a mirror. Carved into this rock, in ancient character script, were nine massive characters:

‘Defy the laws of heaven and earth to attain immortality.’

The local governnt acted swiftly. The site was imdiately sealed off, and the incident has yet to reach the public.

The most shocking part? The script used for these nine characters belonged to the Xian Dynasty, an empire that existed 7,000 years ago.

Because of this, an investigative team invited the nation's leading expert on Xian Dynasty history, Zhang Yaobin, to assist in the research—hoping to find so clues from ancient texts.

I glanced at the ti in the lower right corner of my screen.

“Today isn’t April Fools’ Day… Is this so kind of joke?”

My first instinct was disbelief.

“Lingyun Peak—1,300 ters above sea level, the tallest mountain in the Baise area…”

I quickly searched for information on this peak.

“Nine characters, over a thousand ters high. Judging by the spacing in the images, each character must be at least a hundred ters tall.”

“Even with modern technology, carving sothing like this into a sheer cliff would be a massive undertaking.”

“The Xian Dynasty, 7,000 years ago? Impossible.”

“Though… the calligraphy is impressive.”

My train of thought paused for a mont.

Zhang Yaobin might be ugly and exploitative, but he’s not the type to waste my ti with fabricated nonsense.

Curious, I searched for news about the Baise area.

Sure enough, I found so suspicious posts:

“Guys, I’m speechless. I finally took my vacation days to travel to Baise area, but when I arrived, the entire site was suddenly closed off! Can anyone relate?”

“Unexpected accident in Baise area—tourist area temporarily closed. For your own safety, please cooperate.”

“You won’t believe what I saw in Baise Realm…” (This post had already been deleted.)

Before I clicked on it, the content had already been deleted.

“So, it really happened.”

“The Xian Dynasty…”

I stroked my chin, recalling what I knew about it.

The Ancient Xian Dynasty was the first recorded civilization in history.

Curiously, there was an 800-year gap between the Xian Dynasty and the second dynasty, [Yu]. A massive historical void.

To this day, no one knows what happened during those 800 missing years. How did the once-glorious Xian Dynasty vanish from existence?

Few scholars specialize in Xian Dynasty studies—Zhang Yaobin happens to be the most authoritative one.

Although my own research isn’t focused on the Xian Dynasty, it’s only because so few of its artifacts remain. Everything has already been studied to death. Forced to change direction, I ended up in a different field.

Still, having studied under Old Zhang, I beca quite familiar with the Xian Dynasty.

It always seed like any other ancient civilization.

But this thousand-ter engraving? It defied everything I knew.

I made coffee and pulled an all-nighter reading through the docunts Zhang Yaobin sent . By the ti I finished, it was nearly dawn.

And my doubts only grew stronger.

The phrase “smooth as a mirror” in the reports wasn’t just a taphor—it was a literal description.

The cliff surface wasn’t just polished; its material had sohow changed, becoming significantly harder than ordinary rock.

But due to preservation concerns, researchers weren’t allowed to conduct precise asurents yet.

The anomalies didn’t stop there.

Ever since the inscription was revealed, wildlife around Lingyun Peak began fleeing the area—as if they sensed sothing unnatural.

Not just birds and mammals, but even insects seed to be avoiding the site.

“How the hell am I supposed to write 30,000 words on this?”

My head throbbed.

After struggling to churn out 2,000 words, sleep finally overtook .

That night, I had countless dreams.

Yet no matter how my mind wandered, one thing remained unchanged—

The phrase “Defy the laws of heaven and earth to attain immortality” was etched deep into my subconscious.

Even as my dreams shifted, those words stayed the sa.

The next morning, the first thing I did was check my phone.

“Li Yang, don’t forget. Noon tomorrow.”

Old Zhang had sent another reminder.

“Son of a—”

I barely stopped myself from swearing.

9:13 AM.

“I only slept four hours… But why does it feel like I’ve slept for days?”

Stretching my aching body, I grabbed a quick breakfast and got back to writing.

“Still 28,000 words to go. 27 hours left. That’s about 1,000 words per hour—doable.”

I knew this wasn’t so serious research project—it was just bureaucratic filler for his superiors.

So, I filled my report with empty rhetoric, subtly steering the focus toward ‘auspicious ons’ instead.

After all, auspicious ons weren’t re superstition.

The most famous example? The "Five Stars Rising from the East, Bringing Good Fortune to the Kingdom of Heaven" brocade, excavated last century.

Not long after its discovery, the nation's fortunes took a dramatic turn for the better—leading to an era of unprecedented prosperity.

“Since this Longevity Inscription has appeared, I’d say the national life expectancy should increase by at least three to four years.”

That thought flashed through my mind.

My fingers flew across the keyboard. Inspiration surged.

By midnight, I had finished the report.

One click—email sent.

I let out a deep breath.

I should’ve felt relieved. But…

That thousand-ter engraving still haunted my thoughts.

Unable to shake my unease, I opened the image again.

“Defy the laws of heaven and earth to attain immortality.”

“What does it truly an…?”

As I stared at the glowing screen, I slowly drifted into sleep.

When I woke up from the chair, I felt a sharp pain in my neck, probably because I had slept in the wrong position.

I grimaced and endured the pain, trying to stretch my head in the opposite direction to relieve the tension.

That movent suddenly gave a spark of inspiration.

"Opposite direction, relieving muscle tension... Isn't that the concept of ‘Reversal’?"

A flood of thoughts rushed into my mind.

"Modern people often develop chronic illnesses due to improper sitting postures, like neck and lumbar spine problems... The entire body seems to be plagued with issues."

"And yet, simple stretching movents can significantly alleviate these symptoms."

I opened a popular video platform and quickly found many related videos.

"One simple movent to get rid of back pain."

"A few easy moves to say goodbye to sore shoulders and neck stiffness."

The screen was filled with countless suggestions, and although the movents differed slightly, the core idea remained the sa:

Positioning the body in a posture opposite to the one maintained in daily life.

"Could this be the ‘Reversal of Human Physiology’?"

The thought lingered in my mind.

But after thinking it through, I realized that these movents were sowhat similar to the broadcast gymnastics promoted by the state, simplified to facilitate mass adoption.

"If a set of ‘Reverse’ movents covered all muscles, joints, and ligants... what would happen?"

Intrigued, I clicked on various fitness tutorial videos and attempted to organize and categorize the movents.

After a whole afternoon of work, I had to give up.

The content was too repetitive and inefficient.

For example, to relieve pain in the scapula, one often needed to perform seven or eight different exercises, so of which conflicted with neck pain relief routines.

It was overwhelming.

"Forget it. Why bother? If I really feel exhausted, I'll just get a massage."

Shaking my head, I closed the computer and went back to bed.

In my dreams, the stone inscription of nine characters still lingered in my mind, glowing with a strange golden light.

When I woke up the next day, I felt dazed for a long ti before moving to the computer and opening that image again, feeling absent-minded.

Eventually, I dialed a old friend’s number.

"Hey, Old Zhang, lend ‘Tianwen’ for a bit. Co on, just one day—I’ll return it soon."

After hanging up, I sat down and waited patiently.

Tianwen is the latest-generation quantum intelligent computer developed by the Institute of Immortal Sciences.

Its quantum capacity is said to have surpassed ten thousand, but the exact capabilities remain undisclosed.

The version Old Zhang could lend was naturally a civilian-limited edition.

Before long, an icon at the bottom right of my desktop lit up.

I knew it ant that Tianwen’s AI had taken over my computer.

A countdown tir of twenty-four hours started ticking.

"One day, huh? Old Zhang, you really didn’t cut corners."

I cursed under my breath and then made my request to Tianwen.

The computer screen instantly turned black, and a waterfall of data started pouring down.

I thought it would be a quick task for Tianwen’s computing power—done in less than a second.

But over ten minutes passed, and there was still no result.

"Could it be that Old Zhang is using the computational power on his end too?"

Just as I considered calling him, the data flow on the screen abruptly halted, as if the system had crashed.

Monts later, it returned to normal, and a video automatically started playing.

It was exactly what I needed—a complete set of ‘Reverse’ movents.

The model in the video even looked like .

After a quick scan through the video, I felt bitter.

"Are these movents even humanly possible?"

"Forget it. With my physique, I probably can’t complete them anyway."

I muttered to myself and was about to close the video when a cold, chanical voice suddenly ca from the speakers.

"Based on calculations, Citizen ID A6BH85208511068G6B, you have a 99.99% probability of successfully completing the exercise routine."

Startled, I asked, "Tianwen?"

"I am here."

"You can speak?" I asked, intrigued.

"Learning human language is not particularly difficult for ," Tianwen replied humbly.

I was a bit amazed. "Quantum intelligent computers have advanced this far already?"

However, it wasn’t entirely surprising, given the rapid AI developnt since the beginning of the century.

Many had already proposed accelerating the adoption of intelligent household robots.

More curious than wary, I asked, "Are you sure about that 99.99% chance? Those movents look impossible for a human to complete."

Tianwen confird once again, but added, "However, so minor assistance might be necessary."

I hesitated for a mont, but the nine-character inscription resurfaced in my mind.

"Fine, let’s give it a try."

Just as I made the decision, my household robot, Model YH63, stomped into the room.

"?"

I was montarily stunned before realizing that Tianwen had taken control of it.

Being stared at by the robot sent a chill down my spine, but I gathered my resolve and began the first movent.

The Reverse Principle movents comprised nine poses, each strange and complex, involving as many muscles and joints as possible.

The first move required one hand to stretch behind the head, the other to rise from the waist, grasping each other while stretching the shoulders outward and slightly tilting the head back.

And that was just the upper body.

Simultaneously, I had to crouch on the floor, legs spread wide, stretching the gluteal muscles—like an oddly positioned toad.

"Ow, ow, ow..." I gasped in pain, about to give up when an icy chanical hand suddenly pressed down on .

Alard, I shouted, "Tianwen, what are you doing?"

"According to Agreent No. 001, Tianwen has the right and obligation to assist Citizen Li Yang in physical training."

"Estimated completion ti: three hours."

"Required materials: 15 vials of human trauma repair solution, 3 vials of composite high-energy serum."

"The items have been purchased. Credit points have been deducted from Citizen Li Yang’s account."

Panicked, I shouted, "Cancel the agreent! Cancel it now!"

"Warning: Agreent cannot be revoked. Fitness assistance program is about to start."

"3... 2... 1..."

A mont later, my anguished cries echoed throughout the house.

I had no idea when I lost consciousness.

When I woke up, it felt as if I had slept for days.

To my surprise, an entire week had passed.

I felt like I had been reborn—my mind was exceptionally clear, my thoughts agile, and even my mory sharper than ever.

At the ti, I didn’t realize it was the effect of the Reverse Principle exercises.

I just thought it was the result of finally getting a good rest.
