The black SUV rolled smoothly through the evening streets of Chicago. Rainwater reflected the city lights across the road while rows of towering buildings stretched endlessly beyond the tinted windows.

Inside the vehicle, silence dominated. Damian sat quietly in the rear seat with one leg crossed over the other while staring at the glowing screen floating before his eyes.

[Na: Damian]

[Race: Human/Demon] [Hybrid]

[Rank: Demon Noble] [Monster]

[Sins: Lust/Abyss]

[Devotee: 0.0000000002%]

[Talent Points: 500]

[Talent Tree:] [Lust/Abyss/Asura]

[Level: 300] [88%]

[Strength: 73.5] [Agility: 73.5] [Constitution: 74.0] [Charisma: 73.5] [Demonic Force: 3950/3950]

His eyes remained fixed on those numbers.

Just one week.

One week buried inside ritual mating and he had crossed one hundred levels effortlessly. His body had evolved into that of a Demon Noble and at so point during the process, without even realizing it, he had ford a second demonic heart.

He could feel it now.

One heart beat slowly and steadily inside his chest while the second beat deeper and heavier. Every pulse sent warm waves through his body like hidden engines quietly running beneath flesh.

Apart from that he gained five hundred unused talent points and his stats were already approaching eighty points in a world where the peak human potential was five.

Yet even seeing numbers this absurd stirred nothing inside him. His superiority over the commandnts man no longer ant anything to him.

Instead he was more annoyed. Breaking away from ritual mating felt wrong. It felt like waking up from the greatest dream imaginable only to realize reality was empty.

Everything looked colorless to him, even the city outside appeared dull.

"Hahahahaha!"

Delaney’s laughter suddenly shattered the silence causing Damian to frown faintly and turn his head. The old councilman sat opposite him with flushed cheeks and visible excitent.

"I still can’t believe it!" Delaney laughed loudly while shaking his head. "That was beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!"

His eyes practically glowed.

"I’ve never seen federal prosecutors get slaughtered like that before. You didn’t just win. You killed her entire career."

He slapped Damian’s shoulder excitedly.

"You basically executed her publicly! That bitch is finished!"

He laughed again, expecting excitent from Damian Instead Damian only shrugged.

"Probably."

The dry answer stunned Delaney slightly and his laughter slowly weakened. Only then did he really look at Damian and sothing felt wrong.

The man sitting before him no longer felt like the sa lawyer who approached him weeks ago. His appearance had changed and his black attire looked sharper.. The purple undercut strangely fit him.His face remained beautiful as always but now there was sothing behind those eyes.

Sothing inhumane.

Delaney suddenly rembered the masked man. This man and whoever stood behind him still felt like mysteries he couldn’t comprehend.

Damian turned back toward the window.

"Rember your part of the deal." His voice remained calm and Delaney quickly straightened.

"Of course." He cleared his throat. "I was actually planning to invite you to a celebratory dinner in four days."

That got Damian’s attention slightly and Delaney continued.

"There’ll be important mbers of the Liberal Party attending." His tone beca noticeably more serious.

"There... I intend to formally introduce your ambition to beco a judge." He adjusted his tie. "You already have montum. The city knows your na."

"You don’t need popularity anymore. You need connections and people there can beco the foundation of your political career."

Damian finally looked at him and his dull eyes showed the smallest hint of interest.

"Alright." Damian gave a simple response and went silent again.

Delaney hesitated as he wanted to say sothing else. Sothing he had been thinking about for a while. His fingers rubbed against one another awkwardly as he stared at Damian intently.

"Also..." he finally spoke up

Damian looked at him again and Delaney forced a smile.

"It might help if you brought... that man." Delaney swallowed and continued. "I’m sure a lot of my colleagues would support you after seeing what he can do."

BAM!

The SUV shook violently as Delaney’s body exploded upward. His head smashed against the roof before he could react—

BAM!

His body slamd downward into the seat.

BANG!

He was then launched sideways and crushed into the door causing the entire vehicle to tremble.

"GAAAH!"

His scream ca out distorted as his body hung against the door unnaturally. His neck slowly compressed like invisible fingers were wrapping around it.

Delaney clawed at his throat desperately as his eyes widened in terror. He slowly raised his gaze only to notice Damian hadn’t moved.

He still sat there but his burning purple eyes looked horrifying.

Damian slowly turned his face, as his gaze locked onto Delaney.

"You expect a god to present himself before mortals .and entertain them for support?" His voice began quietly, almost softly and then slowly rose sharply.

The pressure inside the vehicle intensified as the windows cracked. Delaney’s body pressed deeper into the door as Damian’s eyes burned brighter.

The SUV beca suffocating to the point where Delaney could barely breathe. His heart pounded violently and his body scread danger.

Damian leaned slightly forward and his voice dropped dangerously low.

"Do you know what blasphemy is?"

The invisible grip tightened causing Delaney’s eyes to bulge while Damian’s expression remained emotionless.

"And do you know the punishnt that follows?"

"I’m sorry..." Delaney gasped weakly. "I’m sorry..."

His voice no longer sounded human. It ca out strained and broken, no different from soone desperately clawing at life while drowning.

His body remained pinned awkwardly against the vehicle door while his chest expanded violently in failed attempts to breathe. The invisible pressure around his throat slowly tightened and loosened rhythmically.

Damian stared at him silently as the violent glow inside his eyes faded and the invisible force disappeared with it.

THUD!

Delaney collapsed heavily back into the seat. The mont freedom returned to his lungs, he bent forward violently and began coughing.

"COUGH!"

"COUGH!"

His entire body shook as air rushed into his lungs greedily. He grabbed his throat while gasping not knowing sweat had soaked through his shirt.

His heartbeat felt chaotic and his vision remained blurry. For the first ti in years Delaney truly felt close to death.

Eventually his breathing slowed and his eyes lifted slowly. Instinctively he looked towards the rearview mirror and Loth looked back with a cold and expressionless face as if nothing unusual happened.

She just gave him a side brief glance before returning her focus to the road like watching soone get strangled to death in her car was normal.

That realization sent chills down Delaney’s spine. His mouth slowly opened, then closed again. His eyes drifted sideways only to see Damian had already turned back toward the window like none of this ever happened.

His expression looked calm the sa way it was during the trial, like all of this was nothing to him.

The fact he was acting as though nothing had happened after nearly killing a sitting councilman spoke volus about Damian’s capabilities. This left Delaney wondering just how powerful the man in white is, if his devotee can do this much.

For the first ti he understood what he had misunderstood from the beginning.

He thought he was supporting Damian and helping him enter politics. Now he realized he was the one who should be grateful for being given the opportunity to help Damian step into the political space of the nation .

It was just like Damian said back in the court after the trial. When Delaney thanked him, Damian responded by telling him he was just lucky to have hired him.

Didn’t that an if he wasn’t the one that hired Damian, he would be the one on the other side of justice?

Only now did he realize those words were actually a threat.
