At that mont, two Mages were dueling in the center of the arena. From the badges pinned to their chests, it was clear that both were Junior Mages.
The Mage on the left swung his Magic Wand, and the air temperature rose sharply as a massive amount of Fire Elents surged toward him.
The mont the Magic coalesced, a huge Fireball materialized at the tip of his Magic Staff and swept toward his opponent!
Its power was several tis greater than the Fireball Skill Zelir had cast.
The Mage on the right was not to be outdone. Under his control, another powerful spell took shape.
He raised his Magic Staff level, and a missile made of pure Magic Power materialized before him, blasting straight toward his opponent’s enormous Fireball.
"BOOM!!!"
The two forces violently collided in mid-air, erupting in a brilliant white light.
Magic Waves, accompanied by gusts of wind, rolled outward and slamd hard against the Protective Array at the edge of the arena.
Although no Magic Power leaked out, Zelir and Bev still instinctively shielded their eyes with their arms. The other spectating Mages also flinched away.
The roaring sound lasted for several seconds before gradually subsiding.
"They’re both really skilled..."
Zelir marveled under his breath.
At the sa ti, two lines of text appeared under Technique Celestial Calculation.
Fla Breath Skill, analysis progress 1%.
Arcane Missile, analysis progress 1%.
But the analysis progress for Fla Breath Skill suddenly jumped, then began to skyrocket!
Before Zelir’s astonished eyes, the progress for Fla Breath Skill shot all the way up to 54% before stopping.
’What... What does this an? Is it just giving 54% progress for free?’
Zelir frowned. He thought for a good while before he started to make sense of it.
’It’s probably because the Spell Structure of Fla Breath Skill is highly similar to that of Fireball Skill. When analyzing the Technique, these overlapping structures are skipped, which is why the progress bar jumped so much all at once.’
’So Technique Celestial Calculation has a feature like this...’
Back in the arena, after all the aftershocks had dissipated, the Mage who cast the Arcane Missile was clearly in better shape than his opponent.
If both had gone all out, the Arcane Missile might have already taken out the other Mage.
He deservedly won the sparring match.
"See? Just as I expected. Compared to Elental Magic, Arcane Magic is definitely more powerful," Bev said, looking like she knew it all along.
"Elental Magic, Arcane Magic... Is there a difference between these two schools of Magic?" Zelir asked.
Bev had received a formal magical education and understood many magical theories—knowledge that Zelir lacked.
"Of course there’s a difference. Simply put, Elental Magic tends to use Magic Power to manipulate natural Elents for Casting, like the Fireball Skill, Wind Blade Technique, or Water Ball Skill."
"Arcane Magic, on the other hand, is Magic cast using purely one’s own Magic Power, like that Arcane Missile you just saw,"
Bev explained.
"In terms of offensive power, Arcane Magic is definitely stronger. But this kind of Magic has its downsides, naly that it consus too much Magic Power, making it difficult to cast repeatedly. Elental Magic’s advantages are its low consumption and greater variety."
"I see..."
Zelir nodded thoughtfully. He suddenly rembered the Great Creation Skill in his analysis queue.
’Judging by the na, he couldn’t guess what kind of Magic it was at all.’
"By the way, Bev, have you ever heard of the Great Creation Skill?" Zelir asked.
"Huh?"
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this term, a look of disdain appeared on Bev’s face.
"Why are you asking about that... Don’t tell you were fooled by one of those wandering Fantasy Mages?"
"Uh... No. What’s a Fantasy Mage?"
Zelir asked tentatively, "I just heard about it sowhere. Does this Magic not actually exist?"
"Of course it doesn’t exist... How could there possibly be such a Magic?"
Bev sighed.
"Fine, I might as well explain it clearly so you don’t get tricked in the future."
"The idea of the Great Creation Skill mainly cos from mythology. The story goes that we originally lived in a broken old world, a place overrun by Evil Gods and rampant with Demons—it was like Hell. It was under these circumstances that the Great Creation Skill burst onto the scene."
"According to legend, the Great Creation Skill is an omnipotent Magic. Whatever you think of, whatever your heart desires, can be realized. Any enemy can be instantly erased. You could also call it the ’Wish-Fulfillnt Skill’."
"It was with the Great Creation Skill that the Creator God wiped out all the evil gods and foul abominations of the old world and created the new world we now live in."
’So there’s a legend like that...’
Zelir nodded slightly and asked again.
"Then how do you know the Great Creation Skill is fake?"
"Because it’s just impossible! Use your brain, how could a Magic like that exist? Legends are just legends."
Bev poked Zelir on the head.
"But there really are people who believe the Great Creation Skill exists and are constantly trying to recreate it."
"Are those the Fantasy Mages you ntioned?"
"Yes. They were given that na because their heads are full of unrealistic ideas. If you had received a formal magical education, you’d know that the Spell Structure of every Magic is extrely rational and logically sound. Let’s take the simplest Low Level Elental Magic as an example."
Bev’s fingers began to trace patterns in the air.
"The Spell Structure of Elental Magic is composed of many small parts. There’s the Magic Power interface, the foundational core, the frawork that shapes the form, and the stabilizing anchor to prevent Magic Power from running wild. The position of every single rune, the curve of every single channel—everything is deliberate."
"They’re like gears, shing together with precision. Only then can the final effect be achieved. It’s an art. Without decades of dedicated research, it’s impossible to grasp it, let alone create a new Magic."
Zelir closed his eyes and thought back, nodding in agreent.
’It was true. The Spell Structure of Magic was incredibly intricate. Each small pattern represented a different function, and if you didn’t follow the established path, a successful Casting was impossible.’
"But those Fantasy Mages don’t think so. They believe the supre Great Creation Skill can’t be recreated by following the rules so rigidly. They think they have to forge a new path," Bev said.
"So what’s their plan?" Zelir asked curiously.
"Their plan? They just scribble randomly," Bev said with a pout.
"Huh?" Zelir was a little surprised.
"Don’t be surprised; those people are that absurd. They completely ignore the requirents for creating Magic and don’t follow the logic between Spell Structures. They just scribble and doodle like children, hoping they can recreate the Great Creation Skill, pinning all their hopes on a miracle."
