SWOOSH!
A piercing sound cut through the air. The Sli that had leaped to the very front was instantly split in two!
Wind Blade Technique!
Seeing this, Valles and Marcus glanced back in surprise.
’Was that Magic cast by Zelir?’
’He learned another new Magic spell?’
Ignoring his teammates’ astonishnt, Zelir began gathering Magic Power for another spell after launching the first Wind Blade Technique.
With the boost from the White Wax Wood Base Material, Zelir’s casting ti for the Wind Blade Technique was reduced to just over three seconds, and its power was also enhanced. It was quite effective against the Slis.
The current destructive power of the Wind Blade Technique was roughly equivalent to a Warrior’s full-force slash.
But while Marcus’s slash could only cut halfway into a Sli’s body, Zelir’s Wind Blade Technique could slice one clean in two.
After cutting through one Sli, the Wind Blade still had enough power to slice into the next Sli’s body and keep going.
Zelir wondered to himself.
’Is it because of Magic Power? Does Magic Power have a special damage bonus against Slis?’
After a mont of shock, Marcus and Valles threw themselves back into the fight.
However, Zelir had now beco the team’s main attacker.
The Wind Blade Technique he cast was like a hot knife through butter, a single spell slicing through the bodies of two or three Slis. His efficiency was far greater than anyone else’s.
Even if a Wind Blade missed the core and didn’t kill a Sli instantly, losing part of its body would slow it down. It would pose no further threat and could be easily finished off.
SWOOSH!
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
The invisible Wind Blades began to rapidly reap the battlefield. Chunks of Gel—the severed bodies of Slis cut down by Zelir—littered the ground.
Marcus and Valles just needed to follow up at the right monts, stabbing the cores with their Battle Saber and Arrows to finish them off.
"Hah!"
Marcus smashed down with a fierce Shield Strike, causing the maid Sli to burst like a water balloon!
Valles also gave up on his Bow and Arrow, instead drawing the Curved Saber from his waist to fight.
Soon, all twenty-so rampaging Slis were wiped out. The last one that tried to escape was finished off by one of Zelir’s Wind Blade Techniques.
The entire battle was exceptionally efficient, lasting no more than five minutes.
"Whew..."
Zelir let out a sigh of relief.
He had cast six or seven Wind Blade Techniques in total. The Magic Power stored in his sea of consciousness had dropped significantly, with only about half remaining.
At the sa ti, his experience panel was constantly rising.
It went from Level 3 (33/150) to Level 3 (87/150), a total increase of 54 Experience Points.
Zelir roughly estimated that a dozen or so Slis had died directly at his hands.
The remaining Slis were finished off by Marcus and Valles after his Wind Blades had sliced off parts of their bodies.
’The experience from those assists must have been included.’
’I still need 63 experience points to level up... If there are no other Demons, I’ll probably have to take another quest.’
"I have to admit, you’ve far exceeded my expectations."
Valles patted Zelir’s shoulder. "You’re improving too fast."
"Thanks." Zelir accepted Valles’s praise with a smile.
A Mage who knew Lighting Skill, Fireball Skill, and Wind Blade Technique was a hot commodity among Low Level Adventurer Squads, the kind who would never lack for a team.
However, Valles still had so doubts.
Zelir had already demonstrated two new types of Magic, and he was also carrying a Magic Wand Base Material... that must have cost a lot of money.
’Four Gold Coins. Is that enough to buy two Magic Scrolls and a Base Material?’
’No matter how I think about it, sothing seems off.’
"Let’s split the reward proportionally this ti. Zelir, you take forty percent, and Valles and I will each take thirty. Sound good?" Marcus said.
Valles didn’t object, and Zelir didn’t act coy, calmly accepting the larger share of the reward.
He had indeed contributed the most in the battle; he deserved it.
Next, the squad began to clean up the battlefield.
They had eliminated a total of twenty-four Slis. According to the bounty, they would receive a reward of seventy-two Silver Coins.
This quest, like the wolf bounty quest, only rewarded kills, and they could handle the spoils themselves.
The market price for each Sli Demon Core was two Silver Coins, so twenty-four Sli Demon Cores could be sold for another forty-eight Silver Coins.
So the real earnings were one hundred twenty Silver Coins, which is one Gold Coin and twenty Silver Coins.
Zelir would get forty-eight Silver Coins.
’Hmm... Not bad.’
After they finished collecting all the Demon Cores from the ground, Marcus glanced toward the depths of the cave.
"Let’s go take a look deeper inside. There might be more Slis. We have to wipe them out completely."
The quest required a detailed investigation of the situation.
Besides, this quest was issued by the Black Stone Town Governnt Hall. If they weren’t thorough and sothing went wrong later, they would be held responsible.
"No problem." Zelir had no objections.
He was actually happy to see more Slis, since he was short on Experience Points for his next level.
The group continued deeper into the cave.
Small streams of water had begun to appear on the ground, branches of an underground river erging from the cave’s depths.
Valles crouched down to inspect it, then shook his head slightly.
"Just as I thought... There are still Slis inside, and this water has been contaminated."
As the squad advanced, the acidic, rotting sll grew stronger, and the temperature beca increasingly cold and damp, to the point where they wanted to cover their noses.
Soon, the group heard the familiar SPLATTING sound again.
Only this ti, the SPLATTING was much heavier. Each landing seed to make the ground tremble.
"Doesn’t that sound off?"
Zelir frowned. "Can a Sli even be that heavy?"
Marcus’s and Valles’s expressions also grew grim. They slowed their pace, trying not to make any noise.
After walking for a few minutes, a much larger, open cavern finally appeared before them.
A tributary of the underground river cut across the cavern with a swift current. Beside the river, a Giant Sli over three ters in diater was moving!
It was as massive as a small hill, its Gel-like body a much deeper color than a normal Sli’s.
Its thick body suddenly contracted, as if gathering strength, and then with a THUD, it leaped high into the air and plunged into the river.
A huge splash erupted. As the water washed over it, any part that touched the Giant Sli’s body imdiately beca viscous.
A large amount of an unknown liquid flowed down the underground river, heading toward Black Stone Town.
Moreover, Zelir could see countless small Slis separating from its body, then rging back into it, a roiling mass that was enough to give anyone goosebumps.
"What the hell is that thing?" Zelir asked, fighting back his disgust.
"A Giant Sli. It’s considered an abnormal variant of a regular Sli. Very tricky," Valles whispered.
