Cao Zhen looked at the crowd, who had suddenly gone mad, and sighed helplessly in his heart. Sure enough, no matter what ti it is, for an ordinary person, a house is always an irresistible temptation.
He, not wanting to appear too special, followed the crowd’s actions and ran forward, and beside him, there was a little kid trailing closely.
Together, the crowd charged towards this place. Even though the newly built city had four city gates, the number of people rushing into the city was just too many. The scene inevitably turned chaotic, and so of the elderly and children were trampled to the ground.
Suddenly, in the next mont, a force descended from the void at the city gate, blocking all the people outside. Then, the voices of three fox monsters rang out.
"Trampling each other like this could lead to deaths. Don’t worry, there are plenty of houses inside. All of you will have a house to live in. Now, queue up to enter, don’t push and shove."
The fox monsters even began organizing the people into lines to enter. Under their organization, the people had no choice but to line up orderly and enter the city one by one.
Cao Zhen was not among the first to move; he was considered one of the last to enter the city.
By that ti, most of the houses already had owners.
He looked around and randomly chose a house that seed to have nothing special about it and went in.
Though it was ordinary, this house had a front yard and a backyard, and even three rooms, which was quite spacious.
Beside him, the little kid who had been following him also ran into the courtyard he had chosen.
Cao Zhen turned back, looking full of curiosity at the child in front of him, the sa child who had hidden behind a tree next to him in the dense forest earlier, and asked curiously, "Little friend, why are you following ? Where are your family mbers?"
"I don’t know." The child shook his head vigorously and said, "All the adults in my family died. I used to live with my uncle. But we got caught, and I don’t know where my uncle is."
She looked up, pitiably at Cao Zhen, and said, "Uncle, can I follow you? I’m scared on my own."
Cao Zhen didn’t nod in agreent. Instead, he continued asking, "Hmm? You’re scared, so why follow ? I see many others who look kind, you could go with them."
Under different circumstances, taking a kid like this wouldn’t matter, but upon entering here, it’s not like he could really listen to the fox monsters and settle down in the city like others. He intended to explore this small world, and who knows when he would leave. If so, the child would be on her own again.
"But you were the first person I encountered," the child looked at Cao Zhen, glanced around, and then, with a mysterious face, said, "I also know you’re not from our village or city, you rushed in halfway."
Upon hearing this, Cao Zhen squatted down, full of puzzlent, and asked, "So what? I’m from sowhere else, shouldn’t you be more afraid of ?"
"I’m not afraid of you. I know you’re a good person." The child looked at Cao Zhen earnestly and said, "Besides, I know you’re more powerful than any of them, so I want to follow you."
"More powerful than others? How do you know that?" Cao Zhen found the child increasingly interesting, even though he hadn’t revealed any of his cultivation base.
The little girl straightforwardly walked to Cao Zhen’s side and solemnly said, "Because when we were caught, you weren’t afraid at all. They all looked scared. Only you weren’t scared one bit."
"You observe things quite closely." Hearing this, Cao Zhen gave a faint smile, never expecting such a child to see through him; however, those demon clans hadn’t noticed him, given the number of people. How could those fox monsters pay attention to everyone?
"Then let ask you, how do you know I’m a good person?"
The little girl said matter-of-factly, "Because earlier, when I was almost pushed down by others, you helped up. Uncle, let follow you, please. I have nowhere else to go."
"But uncle can’t stay here forever, either." Cao Zhen was about to refuse again, but looking at the little girl’s pitiful face, he sighed helplessly and said, "Fine, you can stay here."
This little girl, although she had deliberately smudged her face all black, on closer look, you could tell she was a charming little girl.
Having this little girl go to soone else, it’s not just a matter of whether others would take her in; even if soone did, who knows what their intentions are.
Whereas he, being alone here, might indeed attract so attention.
On the contrary, having a little girl around made things seem more normal.

Although they found a house, inside it was empty, with no beds or furniture.
Fortunately, not long after, voices from those demon clans in the void echoed again.
Cao Zhen noticed that these fox monsters were quite considerate, not only preparing houses but also furnishing them with beds and other furniture.
With the fox monsters distributing houses and providing furniture, the people beca less afraid than before.
