"Don’t tell you actually caught a cold."
"I don’t kn—ACHOO!" Before she could answer Chen Yuan’s question, Jiang Yao let out another sneeze.
As soon as they left the comic con, she’d felt her nose getting a little stuffy, but she hadn’t paid it much mind. Now, after being hit by the cold wind, it felt even worse.
It felt like her nose was stuffed with two cotton balls, making it hard to breathe.
"I think you must have caught it from soone. The seasonal flu has been pretty bad lately, and the comic con was so crowded. We weren’t even wearing masks."
Chen Yuan grabbed the box of tissues from the back seat, pulled a few out, and handed them to Jiang Yao with a worried look.
"That can’t be. If I really caught it there, why are you fine, Young Master...?"
"Maybe because I work out every day. My immune system is probably stronger."
"Now that you ntion it, that does make sense..."
Jiang Yao’s eyes were red-rimd as she wiped her nose, looking at him haggardly. "I haven’t worked out in a long ti. My resistance is probably a little weak."
"Let’s go ho. I rember there’s cold dicine in the first-aid kit."
"Okay. It’s just a small cold, I’ll be fine in a couple of days." Jiang Yao started the engine, turning her head to say softly, "There are so mints in the glove compartnt. Can you get a couple? I feel like I can’t breathe."
"Alright."
After a mont of searching, Chen Yuan found a small can of mints lying quietly inside.
He picked it up, opened the lid, and poured a few out, popping one into his own mouth first.
Only then did he hold his hand out to Jiang Yao’s lips.
"Yaoyao, you have different flavors in this can? Looks like there are a few strawberry ones," he said, looking down at his outstretched hand.
Jiang Yao was about to speak when she turned her head slightly and suddenly noticed Chen Yuan’s hand by her lips. He was holding two mints between his fingertips. Her gaze froze, and she stared for a mont.
She didn’t answer.
In the quiet car, there was only Chen Yuan and Jiang Yao.
This was the first ti Jiang Yao had ever looked at his hand so intently.
She had never paid attention before, but Jiang Yao was surprised to find herself thinking... Chen Yuan’s hands were so beautiful. Not only were his nails neatly trimd, but his fingers were also long and slender. The blue veins on the back of his hands were clearly visible, their lines flowing smoothly and exuding a subtle beauty.
It made her want to feel its warmth and texture.
She stared blankly for a few seconds before lowering her head and taking the two mints with her lips... The instant she bit down on them, a strange impulse surged through her. She couldn’t describe the feeling, but it was impossible to suppress.
Jiang Yao narrowed her eyes, then suddenly stuck out her tongue and deliberately licked his finger. Her glistening saliva instantly made his nail shine, catching the sunlight with a soft glimr.
The sudden sensation of a soft, slick tongue gliding across his finger made Chen Yuan’s head snap up.
He was completely stunned, snatching his hand back as if he’d been electrocuted.
"What are you doing?"
"I... I don’t know. What am I doing?"
Jiang Yao’s mind was a ss; she had no idea why she had just done that.
A crimson blush instantly spread across her cheeks, which burned uncontrollably. The mints in her mouth released a fresh, sweet flavor, but a special taste seed to linger on her lips and tongue.
Chen Yuan grabbed a tissue to wipe his hand and fell silent.
He had thought that after spending so ti together, he understood his girlfriend quite well. But now, Chen Yuan felt he didn’t understand her at all.
’Is... is this so kind of romantic hint that couples use?’
’Looks like I really need to cram on the subject of boyfriends and girlfriends.’
Jiang Yao, who had never been in a relationship, and Chen Yuan, who was equally inexperienced, seed to have entered a completely uncharted wilderness since the day they got back together. They were exploring it, one arduous step at a ti, not understanding why they would spontaneously do such strange things when they were together.
But, this was actually a perfectly normal kink!
...
「Fengting District, Apartnt 1302.」
Exhausted from the morning, Jiang Yao returned to Chen Yuan’s apartnt. Dropping her bag and changing into slippers took the last of her strength.
The next mont, she collapsed onto the sofa, her battery completely drained.
Once inside the warm apartnt, Jiang Yao’s nose felt even more congested. Her nose wouldn’t stop running, her head was fuzzy, and she couldn’t think at all.
She was completely broken...
anwhile, in the study next door, Chen Yuan was rummaging through a drawer under the desk. He distinctly rembered a small first-aid kit being there.
"Found it."
Seeing the orange-yellow first-aid kit, a flash of delight appeared in Chen Yuan’s eyes. He quickly opened it and took out a box of instant cold redy powder.
Besides the cold redy, the box was also filled with all sorts of common dications.
Things like Oprazole, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, and Loratadine—it had everything.
Chen Yuan stared at the dicine, his lips pressed together as a wave of warmth washed over his heart.
He had to admit, Jiang Zhengfeng really did care about him. Despite being so busy with his business, he had been thoughtful enough to consider even these small details when renting the apartnt for him.
This was the first ti Chen Yuan had felt this unfamiliar kind of love from his biological father.
A while ago, he had seen a ssage on Green Bubble from Jiang Zhengfeng asking how he was doing. At the ti, he didn’t know how to reply, so he’d chosen not to. Now, he realized that was the wrong thing to do.
’I should reply when I have a mont,’ Chen Yuan thought, ’even if it’s just a simple sentence.’
’Jiang Zhengfeng would probably be happy, right?’
In the kitchen, Chen Yuan boiled so water, got his own mug, and poured the cold redy granules into it before dissolving them with the scalding water.
When he carried the mug over to the sofa, he saw Jiang Yao under a blanket, staring blankly at the ceiling. Her eyes were watering uncontrollably because of the cold, and she looked haggard and miserable.
A pang of heartache shot through Chen Yuan, and he reached out to stroke her head.
"Sit up and take your dicine. I’ll carry you to bed afterward so you can get so proper sleep. You should feel better when you wake up."
"Mmm~" Jiang Yao obediently let him help her up. The sound was thick with nasal congestion.
She gazed at Chen Yuan pitifully. Her large eyes had lost their usual liveliness; they were just dull, with a flicker of misery surfacing now and then.
She had always been like this when she got sick.
It was like she beca a completely different person, acting just like a one or two-year-old child. She’d do whatever she was told, as if she’d lost her soul, the light gone from her eyes.
"Want hugs." She pouted and stared blankly for a mont, then suddenly held out her arms, murmuring in a devastatingly cute voice.
"Okay, I’ll hug you."
Chen Yuan pulled Jiang Yao into his embrace, gently patting her back, his heart completely lting.
Her body was soft, her chin resting motionlessly on Chen Yuan’s shoulder. She squinted, looking like she was about to fall asleep.
The two of them just held each other, sharing a quiet mont.
On the coffee table, steam spiraled up from the mug, carrying the pleasant, slightly bitter scent of dicine.
...
Once the dicine had cooled to a warm temperature, Chen Yuan carefully helped Jiang Yao drink it, one small sip at a ti.
Jiang Yao obediently drank every last drop of the dicine in the cup and held it out for him to see.
"Such a good girl."
He put the cup down.
"You sound so gentle. Am I hearing things?"
Jiang Yao seed to have regained a bit of awareness. She tilted her head and pouted coquettishly.
"Of course, I have to be gentle with a patient. Co on, I’ll carry you." Chen Yuan slipped one arm under the crook of Jiang Yao’s knees and the other around her waist. With a sudden exertion, he said, "Hold on tight to my neck."
Jiang Yao suddenly felt her body go light. Caught off guard, she let out a cry and clung tightly to Chen Yuan.
She was carried all the way to the bed, feeling the slight sway of his steps. After he set her down, Chen Yuan tucked the blanket in around her on the other side.
The curtains in the room were also drawn, blocking out the light and plunging the room into darkness.
She lay there quietly with an obedient expression, watching Chen Yuan bustle about until, a mont later, he also lay down on the edge of the bed.
"Let’s take a nap. You should feel more comfortable when you wake up."
"I... I..."
"What’s wrong?"
"I don’t want to sleep in my clothes, it’s so uncomfortable..." Jiang Yao’s voice was a bit hoarse, making her sound even more pathetic. Her gaze was full of grievance. As she spoke, she squird under the blanket; the fabric on top of her clothes felt suffocating.
"Then, what do you want to do?"
"Young Master... can you help take them off?"
"Change into pajamas?"
"No, I want to sleep naked. It’s more comfortable."
"..."
Chen Yuan froze for a second, his eyes downcast. He couldn’t refuse a patient’s request.
"Alright then. I can help you with my eyes closed."
"Mmm..."
"Don’t move, okay..."
As he spoke, his hand slipped into the warmth of the blankets, trembling as it reached for the buttons on Jiang Yao’s chest.
