"Is it because of your eye shape? The resemblance is a little uncanny. I think your eyes are pretty unique," Chen Yuan said, taking a closer look at Jiangg Ning's eyes.

He seed to be silently comparing them in his mind.

At his scrutiny, she tensed up, intentionally squinting so her eyelashes fluttered.

Jiangg Ning, wanting to hide the truth, gave a deliberate shrug to appear relaxed. She avoided continuing the conversation on that topic and said, "No, they're not special. All almond-shaped eyes look like they ca from the sa mold. I rember there's a celebrity in South Korea whose eyes are a lot like mine."

"Oh, is that right? Can't say I've looked into it. You learn sothing new every day."

DING—

Just as they were talking, the elevator arrived at the ninth floor.

Chen Yuan had a long-standing habit of taking afternoon naps. If he didn't, he'd be too drowsy to keep his eyes open in the afternoon. Even back in high school, no matter how hectic his studies were, he had to get so sleep, even if it was just for a little while at his desk.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to focus in class for the rest of the afternoon.

He was already starting to yawn, completely missing the indescribably uneasy expression on Jiangg Ning's face.

He opened the door to the hotel room and slipped off his shoes. Turning back, he asked Jiangg Ning, "Do you want to shower first, or should I?"

"You go ahead. It's a good ti for to go find so scissors and get your jacket back from that girl."

"All right."

Chen Yuan grabbed a plastic-wrapped bath towel from the entryway, tore it open with a RIIIIP, and pulled off his shirt without a second thought, revealing a lean but well-proportioned torso.

At that mont, however, Jiangg Ning was in no mood to admire the view. Her heart was still racing.

As soon as the bathroom door closed, she hurried over to her suitcase.

Jiangg Ning crouched down and pulled out her phone. Just as she'd suspected, there were over a dozen unread ssages. Back in the car, she had been so close to Chen Yuan that she hadn't dared to keep her phone out and reply to her sister, terrified he would find out.

She never imagined that her caution would be the very thing that nearly exposed their secret.

The SPLASHING of water from the bathroom was like a signal that it was safe. Jiangg Ning quickly replied to her sister, "I'll be right over," and then started rummaging through her suitcase for a pair of scissors.

They had already agreed: the afternoon was Yaoyao's turn.

Jiangg Ning felt quite guilty for taking these extra few hours for no good reason. She just lost all track of ti whenever she was with Chen Yuan, and before she knew it, the afternoon had arrived.

'Looks like I'll have to give Yaoyao the whole evening, not just the afternoon...'

She stood up, lips pursed, and walked reluctantly to the bathroom door, her gaze falling on Chen Yuan's silhouette through the frosted glass.

Whenever this happened, the little devil of greed on her shoulder would start whispering things like, 'It would be so nice to have him all to myself.' But the little angel on the other shoulder would preach, 'You can't break the rules! You have every right to win him over fair and square.' The conflict made her brow furrow.

But no matter how much she wanted to stay, she had to let go.

The feeling of being alone was unpleasant. Jiangg Ning decided to find sothing to keep herself busy in the afternoon. 'Maybe I'll just finish that paper I've been working on. That should make the day go by faster.'

'And tomorrow morning, I'll get to see Chen again...'

Lost in her happy thoughts, Jiangg Ning's eyes narrowed into a slight smile.

"I'm heading out! You go ahead and shower."

A mont later, his muffled voice called back from behind the glass, "Okay!"

Jiangg Ning took a deep breath, opened the room door, and stepped into the hallway.

...

When she reached Jiangg Yao's suite, she finally relaxed. Opening the door, she tilted her head and looked at her sister in the living room, a grin spreading across her face.

"I swear, you're unbelievable. How did you even manage to get your scarf stuck in Chen's zipper? You scared to death!"

"You were scared to death? I was more terrified than you were, okay?"

Jiangg Yao had just torn into a fried chicken drumstick, savoring the food she had been craving for so long. She'd tossed her scarf onto the sofa the mont she got in. Now that her heart had finally stopped pounding, she was focused on refueling.

"I can't believe the coincidence. You have no idea what Chen Yuan just asked ... If it had just been that one encounter and I'd left, everything would've been fine. But no, the scarf just *had* to get stuck!"

Jiangg Ning said with a sigh, picking up the jacket.

"What did he ask you?" Yaoyao's voice was a little muffled from the food, and her delicate brows furrowed.

"Chen noticed you look a little like ... Ugh."

"For real!?" Yaoyao's eyes went wide. "He could tell just from that? I didn't show any of my face! I even kept my hair hidden!"

"Our eyes. He said they're identical."

"Then what do we do...? The Young Master hasn't figured it out, has he?"

"I don't know. I made up so excuse, and he didn't press it. Anyway, we can't let a mistake like this happen again. One more slip-up and he'll definitely realize sothing is wrong."

"Okay..."

Suddenly, the chicken drumstick in Jiangg Yao's hand lost its appeal. A deep sense of worry filled her eyes.

'It's all my fault. If I had just held out a little longer, none of this would have happened.'

Jiangg Ning was thinking the sa thing. She quietly pulled the tangled threads out of the scarf, snipped them with a SNIP, and looked up to say softly, "It's my fault. If I had seen your ssage about coming downstairs in ti, things wouldn't have gotten so risky."

"Sis..." Yaoyao looked at her, full of self-bla. "It's not your fault. Let's not argue about who's to bla right now. At least things didn't get that bad. We'll just have to be more careful from now on."

She turned and stared down at the food on the table.

Outside, the light began to fade, growing as dim as a light veil shrouding the clouds. A cool wind blew without pause, swaying the ornantal trees planted below the hotel.
