Who among the family understands!_1 Under the leadership of the vampires, the rescuers divided into three teams eventually set foot in the city.

As the survivors on the outskirts streets have mostly been taken out by the minor players, what was left required these people to delve into the peripheral urban areas.

This was undoubtedly a dangerous action.

Yet, over a hundred individuals marching with bright torches under the guidance of the vampires deep into the thick of the night was quite imposing.

At least, it deterred those fearful creatures lurking in the shadows from randomly appearing.

Such invisible fellows were manifestations of the filthy energy in the Star Realm guided by human emotions.

Simply put, the more the collective fear was dispelled, the number of despairing monsters would proportionately decrease.

In simple terms, the more afraid you are of it, the more it multiplies.

At this ti, moving torchlights linked together in the ruins of the night filled the people of Transia with renewed courage.

In their culture, fire was considered sacred, much like how a traveler’s bonfire in the dark could scare off the wicked creatures in the dark, preventing them from acting recklessly.

Of course, vampires like Murphy, Maxim, and the minor players had to occasionally stand in for the combat roles.

Despairing monsters are the least troubleso, while the Star Realm beasts that scare people from ti to ti are the true sources of danger.

These beasts that could only prey in the outskirts are not challenging for Milian and Lady Adel, but Murphy had a bit of a hard ti dealing with them.

He was currently on the periter of the area he was responsible for, fighting a group of Star Realm hounds.

Compared to the dogs of the physical world, these beasts were extrely vicious, and one could see their bones in their intangible states, and their eyes ignited a dim fire in the dark.

Both their sharp teeth and claws were imbued with filthy energy, and one could suffer a weak ntal impact by rely being hit.

Such characteristics were unique to Star Realm creatures.

They existed beyond the physical world and were born and raised in the contaminated spiritual energy of the Star Realm, hence, they were very skilled at damaging the psyche of physical lives.

The good news is that Murphy was not fighting solo.

The Star Realm Direwolf he summoned was an excellent combatant, loyal and fierce, easing many of Murphy’s pressures.

The vampire wasn’t employing his newly learned Tomb Guard Swordsmanship or the Shadow Elf Secret Swordsmanship he “mooched” from Adel.

Both were advanced sword techniques, powerful but necessitating ti for improvent.

For the intense fight at hand, the slightly crude but nonetheless effective Blood Vulture Swordsmanship would be more appropriate.

Under the cover of the Direwolf, Murphy quickly finished off four out of six Star Realm hounds with his sword and crossbow.

Seeing the situation turning against them, the remaining two tried to flee, only to have one caught and killed by the ferocious Direwolf.

The last one fled into the darkness.

Instead of pursuing it, Murphy took off his permanently poison-infused Psychic Crossbow from his waist, skillfully lifted it, and aid.

This was one of the few tis he used long-range weapons, but there wasn’t any unfamiliar feeling.

Perhaps it was due to the shooting proficiency feedback that Adel provided him with, or the vampire’s precise and undisturbed vision in the dark that had enabled him to easily lock onto his target, and pull the trigger several seconds later.

With a soft “zinging” sound, a short but sharp crossbow arrow carrying a faint green light was fired forth.

The hobbled Star Realm hound fleeing ahead was shot in the head from behind and flung onto the ground before quickly disintegrating.

[Firing Skills · Crossbow proficiency improved, currently at “Beginner”.]

A prompt popped up, giving Murphy a sigh of relief.

In his bag, there was a Dwarf Hunter Gun confiscated from a Witch Hunter, but it was too noisy, clashing with the dark and silent style of vampires, and moreover, it didn’t fit Murphy’s understanding of “firearms”.

However, its power was comndable and could be combined with the short-range crossbow.

According to Milian, the shotgun used lead bullets filled with a special engineering powder called “Burning Gold”, giving it considerable destructive power at dium to long distances.

It was said that the Dwarven Earth Priests also had a special Dragon Breath Bullet that could incinerate all dark evils at close range.

Priests carrying large caliber guns to physically exorcise evil?

That was good, very Dwarvish, and also brimming with martial virtues.

“Sir Morphy, we have searched this district thoroughly and saved another 37 people, shall we continue forward?” reported Brother Black Silk, his face covered in black dust and his armor filled with dust, looking as if he’d crawled out of a coal pit.

The man, with a spade on his shoulder and a new recruit’s greatsword on his back, seed to be in good spirits.

Murphy looked back at the crowd behind him.

The n with torches had actively kept the saved won and children in the middle, and so were searching among the ruins.

Compared to when they set off, their morale had discreetly recovered quite a bit.

“First, return to the city wall defense line, where there’s water and food.”

Murphy answered:

“Rest for 15 minutes before returning.

Also, take note of the most active individuals among you, have Milian give them weapons.

Maxim will recruit them into the militia.

We’ll conduct another search before dawn, this ti deeper and more dangerous…

Hmm?”

The vampire’s keen perception made his ears twitch, he turned back to look at the darkness before him and said to Brother Black Silk who just felt a chilling sensation:

“You guys go back first, I’ll stay here….there’s a ‘big guy’ coming.”
