Chapter 1643: 551. Mr. Scholar won’t let you go!
Because reinforcents arrived in the valley, today’s Ratn were forced to split into two groups during their twilight operation. However, this does not affect their destructive power, as there are simply too many Ratn!
They might have built nests nearby, or perhaps dug their way over from other places using their seemingly miraculous “tunnel warfare” skills, but it is certain that these creatures aren’t very intelligent.
There must be manipulators behind them.
And shrouded under the thick fog of war, the grim Twilight followers on the high walls at the valley entrance seed to have realized today’s situation was off.
“Bang”
The only intact room’s door at the top of the watchtower was pushed open. A panting Wolf People heretic stood at the doorway, shouting to the human old man holding a piece of ghostly purple crystal inside:
“It’s not good, Explorer! The Ratn attacking the Transylvanian vampires outside are collapsing! They clearly have the nurical advantage, but their minds have been shattered. Several tunnel manipulators have even beco drooling idiots from ntal backlash.
The rat swarms outside might scatter any mont. You have to make a decision quickly!”
“What decision can I make?”
The human old man known as the “Explorer” stared expressionlessly at the purple crystal in his hand and said in a sinister tone:
“This was always just a ‘battle experint,’ and achieving this level is already quite good. Mr. Scholar has collected the necessary data on the optimization of Ratn’s combat patterns, especially the experience against vampires, which is a crucial elent.
We still need to further optimize and revise the Ratn’s combat patterns,
These inferior creatures have a long way to go before becoming true ‘weapons of war.’ We are researchers, my dear apprentice, not warriors or commanders. Our task here is finished.
Get ready!
We’re going to evacuate.”
“Leave just like this?”
The Wolf People heretic widened his eyes and said:
“But we’re just about to break the Blood Fear Clan’s defense line! When we set out, didn’t Mr. Scholar say to prevent the Transia People from obtaining support as much as possible? Mr. Scholar ntioned based on shared information from so colleagues that Transylvania’s Blood Vulture Clan had already made a coback.
Mr. Scholar judged more than once that the enigmatic Lord Murphy would definitely beco a big problem for the Twilight Organization in the future.
Will we not be punished for just going back like this?”
“I said, we are researchers of the truth! Collecting biological data is our primary duty. Killing those stubborn pirates or winged vampires is at most an additional task.”
The old man referred to as “Explorer” waved impatiently and scolded:
“Warfare is not our field! The tasks Mr. Scholar gave our faction weren’t about destruction. If you want to follow your inferior Werewolf nature and wage war, you stay here; I’ll leave all the Ratn to accompany your burial.
Anyhow, I have plenty of apprentices to choose from.”
“No, no, no, wise Explorer, I fully obey your orders.”
The Wolf People imdiately bent down flatteringly and said:
“Then, do we leave through the tunnels? Do you need to arrange soone to blow it up? It would be troubleso if we were tracked.”
“Hm, you arrange it yourself. Evacuate in ten minutes, don’t bother !”
The old man waved and then began packing various notes and tools in the room.
This watchtower had been transford into a temporary laboratory, where dismbered Ratn were visible in the corners, their small brains entirely extracted and imrsed in Alchemical Solution, making this place look like ‘the mad lab of a crazy witch doctor.’
Without a doubt, the sinister presence before him was the instigator of this ‘Blood Fear X Ratn Disaster.’
Now, realizing that the scattering of his Ratn was inevitable, he wasted no ti in preparing to withdraw. However, before leaving, the old man produced a peculiar Crystal Ball and activated it, allowing him to observe the battle outside the valley from the perspective of the Ratn.
He clearly saw the projectiles launched obliquely into the tunnel with strange piercing sounds and witnessed firsthand the terrifying damage caused to flesh by the explosion of White phosphorus bombs, and the sight of smaller bombs falling from the sky into the tunnel center.
He could even see the crude, blue raccoon drawn with clumsy penmanship on that small bomb, with a very round head, no ears, a golden bell, and the kind of odd style where not even the outstretched hand could be seen.
Then, glaring flas sprang up before his eyes, consuming all the vision the Crystal Ball could connect to in an instant.
The “Explorer” gazed out the watchtower window, seeing the flas erupting outside the valley, even breaking through the war fog. The fire burned so fiercely; it must be so kind of new weapon, and surely Burning Gold had been added!
Otherwise, the explosion wouldn’t have been this powerful.
“Heh heh.”
The sinister old man gave an eerie laugh as he put away the Crystal Ball and said:
“The Transia People aren’t bad, finding the Ratn’s weakness in their first counterattack, but that doesn’t matter. They are just newly born pathetic servants in the Twilight. They will grow; they will learn!
