Chapter 2037: Chapter 680: Ominous Winds Rising—Look, the Storm Is Gathering
The night passed quickly.
Murphy had to enter the biological chamber every few hours for detoxification, so he couldn’t stay with Triss, who was exhausted and fell asleep at midnight, until dawn.
However, the physical weariness couldn’t conceal a certain joy in his heart, and as Murphy got up and picked up his clothes from the floor, he took a glance back at the Duke who was on the bed.
The Duke was turned away from him, his smooth back a piece of art in its own beauty.
Murphy reached out and touched the skin without any trace of desire, gently stroking down from the scar on Triss’s neck, an action that made Triss mumble in his sleep but didn’t stop Murphy.
Both knew what the scar, unwilling to be erased, represented.
It had once been a line separating the two, but now that line had been crossed, and they truly owned each other; the pain the scar represented had past and eased, though not entirely disappeared.
Until Luna was truly dealt with, Triss and Murphy couldn’t fully relax and enjoy their new life.
Murphy shook his head, pulled the blanket over Triss to cover him, and then, coughing, changed the Star Realm Guide Staff form of the Myriad Apparatus and left the bedroom, heading to the biological chamber for detoxification.
As he descended in the elevator to the underground, he happened to see Maxim climbing out of the biological chamber.
The monster’s weakness had been completely eradicated, and when Murphy saw him, the blood bond that had once existed between them had vanished, as if they were two strangers.
This made Maxim quite uncomfortable.
He wrapped himself in a towel, hesitant to speak.
“How does freedom feel, Mark?”
Murphy proactively spoke.
“It’s terrible! I feel like I’ve lost the center and purpose of my life. You know, I was just a freak who needed to obey others to unleash all my power… And now I’ve been given a freedom I never needed!”
Maxim complained:
“I used to know which way to go, I wouldn’t lose my direction. You were like a lighthouse guiding forward, but now, it feels like I could get lost at any mont.

I don’t know how others handle it, but for , it’s not a blessing.”
“This feeling is called being normal, Mark, you were too twisted before.”
Murphy adjusted the control panel of the biological chamber, setting the thirty-minute auto-wake program, then turned to Maxim and said:
“But you see, losing the constraint of the Blood Covenant doesn’t instantly turn you from a loyalist to a traitor; you only feel lost but are not truly lost. You actually know where to go, so the next question is whether you’re willing to continue.
Go back and think about it, Mark.
Loyalty should be pure and not influenced to ultimately submit under soone’s feet, willing to beco a hound.
Your loyalty before touched , but I also have my duties as a leader, protecting your souls and minds is one of them.
Think it through.
From now on, you will have the freedom to choose where to spill your passion, and your emotional connection with Lionea can finally continue without restraint.”

Maxim lowered his head, obviously troubled, so Murphy proposed a suggestion:

You should go, Mark.
While I’m unable to go to the front lines, you’ll have to fulfill your duties on my behalf.”
“I won’t let you down, Master.”
Mark said solemnly:
“I will surely bring you victory.”

Murphy, wearing the tight-fitting traveler suit, lay in the biological chamber and said to Maxim:
“Once you return, prepare for the great retreat, the likelihood of the worst-case scenario is greatly increasing, and when that ti cos, you’ll have to step in to turn the tide, rember to bring Lionea along, have her assist.
I think, after this battle, if Lord Paryen doesn’t reward the highly ritorious Lionea with a vial of Origin Blood, then he will be too stingy.”

Mark sighed and said:
