Underneath the soil layer of the Wolf camp, the player strategist known as “Dostic 003” was swinging an engineer’s shovel, continuously widening the upward-slanting passage. He no longer showed any of the high spirits from three days ago; now, his entire body and equipnt were covered with dirt and sweat stains, looking disheveled and unkempt, just like those defeated adventurers.
But his ntal state was still excellent.
So good that he was almost exhilarated.
He shouted out like a foreman, but the surrounding players and NPCs did not respond to his enthusiastic cheer.
Darn, everyone’s been digging here day and night for three whole days and nights. Now they’re completely exhausted, who has the mood to respond to your lousy motivation? “Co on, we didn’t even say more than five sentences that night, alright? You jumped up yourself and begged to join, how could that be my beguilent?”
Hearing this complaint for the hundredth ti in three days, 003 was rather unsatisfied and retorted boldly with his engineer shovel in hand.
Through three days of close interaction with NPCs, he developed, much like other newbie players, a unique feeling towards these lively NPCs of Transylvania.
They are not rigid AI products; they are living human beings, with their own personalities, emotions, and those personal traits and so bad habits you can spot at a glance. But these flaws did not damage their image in the players’ minds; instead, their imperfection made them seem more real.
Just like this Nord beside 003, nad Ivan Koff.
His unit was not the famous Winter Wolf Army but an elite force drawn from Ice Bay’s Border Defense Force. Their constant dealings with Barbarians made them battle fiercely, but not being the Winter Wolf’s direct lineage made them unvalued in Shadow Valley.
His superior had already died in battle four days ago, yet Colonel Basomiyang of the Winter Wolf Army had not assigned them a new commander.
This was actually good news for Ivan Koff, aning the Winter Wolf Army had already tacitly agreed to his promotion and silently approved them to represent the Nord in this “underground assault” action. However, this indifference itself is hurting to this bold Nord soldier.
He can willingly sacrifice for the country and stand fearless in the face of the advancing Jackal army, but he also wishes for the respect and admiration of his comrades, not this kind of oblivion.

“Are people from your side always this confident? This tunnel could be discovered at any mont now, and if the Wolf People or the Gnolls find us, all our work will be wasted. Why do they act like we’ve already won?”
Co to think of it, I’ve interacted with other warriors in Shadow Valley, and you all seem not to consider the possibility of failure…”
“Because to us, the cost of failure is just death, and we do not die!”
003 gulped down the bun and gave this explanation to the friend he had made in the past few days before grabbing a second bun to quickly replenish his hunger gauge.
Sitting on the broken rocks, he watched as the newbies lined up with small trolleys to transport the dug-out dirt, while so playful ones made themselves shoulder poles and swayed back and forth with baskets of dirt, creating a vivid sense of déjà vu that filled 003’s heart with even greater confidence in the combat operation he designed and promoted.
