"General! All the Ratman Tunnels have been reclaid by us! The entire Brass Fortress has been re-fortified. Without the tunnels, the Wolf People who have been harassing various directions of the fortress are beginning to retreat. We’ve won!"
A fully ard Dwarf artilleryman put down his telescope adorned with Ratman skulls and excitedly turned back to report to General Banock Force of the Earth, who stood behind him:
"Look, from our position, we can see our Ironheart Warriors raising their banner from the last tunnel, and the command flag of the Bonebite Clan is also being moved back. That damned brutal Jackal Tribe Chief has t the sa fate as his ancestors a hundred years ago, being crushed in front of our great Unbroken Fortress!
Even with such evil allies as the Ratn, the pitiful barbarians cannot break our mighty fortress!"
"Well said, soldier! This is indeed the good news our king hopes to hear."
General Banock was also extrely excited.
He removed his battle helt adorned with a red tassel and used his strong eyesight to gaze at the battlefield in front of them. As far as he could see, the Wolf People were in full retreat, and their evil underground allies were in complete disarray, chased down by the fearless Ironheart Warriors and the Dwarf soldiers whose morale was high due to threefold pay.
"Imdiately deploy our elite Ironheart Warriors to guard those tunnels! I am going to report the good news to our king and discuss what to do next."
The Dwarf general withdrew his gaze and gave orders to his couriers. He then turned to the artilleryn beside him, who were looking at him with a certain fiery gaze. He knew exactly what these guys were expecting, and so General Banock waved his hand widely and shouted:
"In the na of this victory, there will soon be an ample reward of gold handed out! Every soldier will receive a reward comnsurate with his rits; in the na of our great king, all the taverns and casinos in the city will host victory celebrations, and perhaps there will even be discounts.
Oh, and vacations too!
You’ve been guarding here for so long, and with victory now in our hands, I will suggest to the king to give you enough vacation ti to splurge with the massive wealth you’ve acquired.
A glorious victory ans spending lots of money, brothers! Rejoice!"
"Hurrah, long live the generous king!"
General Banock’s string of promises greatly uplifted the spirits of the Dwarves around, turning the place into a boisterous and noisy environnt with their hoarse shouting and hollering.
So of the artilleryn in the crowd wore expressions of strange satisfaction on their faces.
After all, now that the fortress was secure and the Wolf People had retreated, and the Battle of the Brass Fortress had been won, there probably wouldn’t be any more good days of getting triple pay and rewards for repelling attacks.
But they were still content.
After all, everyone had survived, and no matter how much lovely gold one earns, it’s only useful if one is alive to spend it.
"I know you’re excited, soldiers, but please stand guard for our king for one last shift."
General Banock watched as the morale was lifted by just a few of his words, and he nodded with satisfaction. This luxuriously dressed general gave orders for defense to the surrounding soldiers, then mounted his Roth Beast and headed to the throne room to report the victory.
Before leaving, he took one last glance at the high skies of the fortress.
The Subspace Mist that enshrouded the entire Gorgon Mountain Pass still lingered as usual, but its density and color had both faded significantly; it was about to dissipate soon, which ant that the siege of the Gorgon Mountain Pass and Brass Fortress was nearing its end.
Hmm, all good things, they’re all good things!
The toughest tis have passed, which ans good things are coming!
Thinking this, General Banock hastened his way to the throne room, where his king—the Supre Lord of the Brass Dwarves, Hadran Hamr of the Earth—was sitting on his throne, wearing a troubled expression as he looked at the ledger in his hand, seemingly preoccupied by so problem and unaware that his most trusted general had entered the hall.
"Your Majesty, good news!"
General Banock shouted:
"The last Ratman Tunnel has been reclaid by our brave soldiers, and the Wolf People have retreated! They are in full retreat! Our great city has upheld the ancient traditions; we have not bowed to invaders, we have won!"
"Hmm?"
For nearly a month, Lord Hadlan had not left the throne room. Hearing this, he was overjoyed and clapped his knee in praise:
"Wonderful, wonderful! At last, my last few treasuries are preserved... uh, ahem, what I an to say is, this victory ca at the perfect ti! My general, I’ve just received word that the Storm Ripper Sorcerers of the Atlantean Shark People will shatter the Subspace Mist completely by tomorrow morning, aning we will no longer be isolated from the outside world.
It’s a double celebration!"
"Indeed, Your Majesty, we will re-establish contact with Charldo Harbor, and the entire continent will know the great deeds accomplished by the Brass Dwarves. We relied on no one, not even the gods who abandoned us; with our own hands, we have beaten back the Black Disaster. The Brass Dwarves will once again beco the heroes of the entire continent!"
General Banock took a bold step forward and, with a tone of praise and flattery, said to his king:
"You will also beco the Savior of the entire continent. When other leaders are troubled by the threat of the Wolf People, you led your people to stand out and achieve the great deeds of protection, even in abandonnt.
