Perhaps it’s better to die like this...
The last vestige of Hadlan’s sanity wailed on the ntal battlefield like the storm border.
As one of the three dwarven leaders who originally made the pact with Mother Gaia, he let his people fall into a frenzy for external possessions, exchanging their souls, minds, and traditions for the prosperity of the tribe.
But all gifts co with a price. After enjoying wealth for hundreds of years, the Brass Dwarves must also accept their future and end as eternal pursuers of wealth.
Banok didn’t think it was a bad thing.
Wealth could buy everything, including victory and prosperity, but his mind had been utterly poisoned the mont he first confronted the shadow of subspace, and a madman’s thoughts could not be the standard for normal people.
As a leader, Hadlan saw further.
The pursuit of wealth might indeed bring the Brass Dwarves back to their peak, but the desire that accompanies it is boundless.
One day, when re gains cannot satisfy the cravings of the Brass Dwarves, what terrible and twisted things will they do to seek solace?
If they can create a neutral god, then will they create sothing even more terrifying in the future?
As it stands, the answer to this question is inevitably pessimistic.
Perhaps it’s better to die like this!
To die as a Brass Dwarf rather than in so more horrific and detestable capacity, at least allows so dignity after losing faith.
However, fate would not be so kind to him, who committed great wrongs.
"Buzz"
At the mont Hadlan was about to crash into that gaping subspace fracture, a light flashed past. Amidst the shrill wail brought by the scarlet light, the surrounding subspace energy was shattered in a single blow, and the disheveled Lord Hadlan was whisked to a relatively safe place.
Riding on the back of the Aurora, Lord Paryen held the Holy Spear, the shattered subspace power still surrounding him, quickly dispersed by the spear’s hum. In his other hand, he carried the bloody-faced Hadlan, while in front of him, the spatial teleportation released by Banok was effortlessly shattered by Old Edward with a bizarre pale bone whip.
With a blank expression, Duke Wolfsbane flicked his wrist as the hideous bone whip retracted into his hand, morphing into a wild pale blade as it closed layer by layer like a spine.
Though it looked bizarre, its ability to so easily disperse concentrated subspace energy indicated it was no ordinary artifact.
In fact, just as the Blood Vulture Clan owned Necessary Evil, and Eternal Silence was held by the Millennium Lord, Old Edward, as Lord Paryen’s forr brother and a noble Vampire Duke, also had a Wolfsbane artifact.
The Sting of Fear.
A blade whip made from the remains of an unknown creature, with two combat forms: sword-shaped and whip, perfectly suited for the Wolf Bat Power of the Wolfsbane Clan, also implanting the Seed of Fear with every attack.
Most importantly, like other vampire artifacts, it had decent resistance to subspace power.
Old Edward rarely used this weapon.
Probably because any battle featuring the Sting of Fear would ultimately result in the enemy collapsing from fear, rendering the fight unenjoyable for Edward.
"Vampire!"
Banok cried out in alarm upon seeing Lord Paryen and the fearso Holy Spear, screaming:
"Servants of subspace who deserve to be swallowed and turned into stardust in the most humble form! How dare you tread upon this sacred ground of transformation?"
"?"
Old Edward gave Lord Paryen a puzzled look.
From the tone, why did it sound as though they were the villains?
The Vampire Millennium Lord placed Lord Hadlan on the ground, having witnessed such matters often, he said expressionlessly:
"This poor guy is already insane. The first ti he saw the alien landscape, he was scared mad, and the subspace shadow exploited his fear to ravage his mind, transforming a set of ridiculously flawed claims into the truth of his soul.
He truly thinks he is saving people under the na of ’change,’ just a dented coward, no need to waste words on him.
Kill him!"
"Alright."
Duke Wolfsbane nodded, stretching his neck.
As Banok conjured a spell, he instantaneously moved near him using pure physical techniques.
Without even needing the Sting of Fear, a swipe with the extended Wolf Bat claw gave Banok a trim, slicing off a small piece of scalp, while the two Star Realm Wolf Lords he summoned rampaged through the adjacent tunnel, slaughtering the Ratman passing through.
The activated aura of the Holy Spear Eternal Silence shrouded him, allowing him to quickly eliminate the World Burning Demon Warriors ceaselessly erging from the fracture.
This is why Lord Paryen had to bring Old Edward over; his combat prowess was the strongest among the Vampire Dukes, even surpassing that of the lord himself.
Lord Paryen did not join the battle.
He glanced at the continually tearing subspace fracture, then at the mumbling, head-clutching Lord Hadlan.
This dwarf, enshrouded in despair, was too close to the fracture, poisoned by so subspace shadow’s power wielded by Banok, and burdened by resentnt and guilt, resulting in the Supre Lord’s irrational thinking.
Simply put, he was half mad.
However, the lord did not possess Murphy’s magical ability to awaken a person with a slap, and while the Holy Spear Eternal Silence could suppress subspace power, it did not have much purifying strength.
