[58/60]_3 338: Why did you give a yellow dress?
You’re harming !
[58/60]_3 Murphy tossed a few high-grade pieces of equipnt down onto the pile of gold coins.
Maxim packed them into a spiritual energy bag.
Master and servant rummaged through the luxurious items in silence.
After a few minutes, Murphy broke the silence:
“This might disappoint you, Mark, but I have no intention of becoming the Blood Vulture Duke.”
“Why?”
Maxim stared at the golden lion spear in his hand as he fished for more items in the sea of gold coins.
He asked in surprise:
“You deserve all these.
When Salockdale tornted Transylvania, you led us to reclaim our territory and saved the survivors!
It was you who orchestrated Salockdale’s fall and redemption.
You saved this land!
Not just once!
This land should thank you and pledge its loyalty.”
“But if I beco the Blood Vulture Duke, it ans I’ve chosen my side.”
Murphy sighed, sitting atop a hill of gold coins and bars.
He idly played with the coins, listening to their crisp and pleasant collision sounds, and said:
“Indeed, by becoming the duke I’d control the entire clan and demand loyalty from the hiding mbers of the Blood Vultures.
But in gaining that, I’d lose sothing else.
Mark, you need to consider problems from a higher perspective.
Those survivors…
They were oppressed by vampires for 400 years, and while they obeyed, it doesn’t an they harbor no resentnt.
They respect and obey not because I’m a vampire, their master, but because I can protect and lead them.
But, the respect and leadership that I’ve worked hard to build will be obliterated the mont I beco the duke of the Blood Vulture Clan.
To them, I would beco another representative of the centuries of misery this land has endured.
Their respect for would quickly transform into fear, tainted with the resentnts of the past.
I’ve gained so much animosity, all for a band of sly vampires who are not loyal and have been significantly weakened.
This is a trade-off.
Would you make such a decision if you were ?”
Maxim paused what he was doing, frowning as he considered the situation from Murphy’s perspective.
He quickly discovered that…
It seed…
It really wasn’t worth it.
If Sir Murphy took over a fully flourishing Blood Vulture Clan, with around thirty to forty thousand vampires obeying him, it would be worth the gamble.
However, assuming control over a nearly extinct clan really wasn’t worth it.
“I have no clear idea about the essence of ruling yet.”
Murphy grabbed a handful of gold coins and let them slip through his fingers.
He said to his loyal servant:
“But one thing is clear, a ruler cannot beco an enemy of the people!
Fear might be an effective ans of rule, but pointless hatred has no business staining one’s hands.
If I beco the clan leader and duke, I would only rule over vampires.
But if I am the lord, if I am the governor of the whole Transylvania, even the new duke of the Blood Vulture Clan would have to bow down before !
Vampires are but one of many races inhabiting the land of Transylvania.”
Maxim’s eyes widened.
He imdiately understood what Murphy ant.
It wasn’t that Murphy didn’t want the title of Blood Vulture Duke, but that he deed such a small vampire clan leader position unworthy.
It wouldn’t add to his glory, but rather restrict the spread of his majesty.
“Your ambitions are as deep and profound as your wisdom, sir.”
The loyal servant bowed his head in sincere admiration, saying:
“I over-simplified things.
But sir, even if you don’t want the throne, you can’t just give it to Lady Phemys.
I have no personal grievances against her, but her personality…
At least in my opinion, she isn’t fit to be a leader.
As you said, you will govern all lifeforms in Transylvania, and vampires are also your subjects.
In that case, the Blood Vulture Clan should be in your hands.
I suggest letting Adel inherit it…”
“Her status is too low, Lord Pa Ying won’t agree, we need his authority to protect ourselves now.”
Murphy stroked his chin.
With a mysterious smile, he said to Maxim:
“Have you forgotten soone?
Soone who, like Phemys, regards Salockdale as her ‘Elder’ and ‘Father’, soone who is close to and I assure will never harm us, soone with extraordinary wisdom and connections, and so past with Lord Pa Ying.
This is soone who just saved us from the crisis of destruction.
This person is the most suitable to beco the Blood Vulture Duke from the very beginning in my mind.”
“!”
Maxim’s eyes widened, and he exclaid:
“You an, Lady Cui Si…”
“Correct!”
Murphy chuckled, patting Maxim on the shoulder and said:
“I won’t beco the Blood Vulture Duke, but my elder will sit on that throne and beco my strongest supporter in the land of Transylvania I’m ruling.
She has suffered so much over the past century, and this is what Salockdale and the Blood Vulture Clan owe her!
Lord Pa Ying won’t reject such an ancient inheritance.
In all aspects, Cui Si is far better suited than Phemys.”
“A perfect decision!”
Maxim cheered up and said:
“Then we must expedite the coronation before Lady Phemys is taken to Lord Pa Ying and finalize the replacent of the Duke.”
“Why bother with that?
It’s a re formality and quite inopportune during these difficult tis.”
Murphy shook his head indifferently and said:
“Only a handful of us mbers of the Blood Vulture Clan remain in this ancestral land.
I’ve already inford Milian and Adel.
They’re accompanying Miss Phemys here.
You should personally invite Cui Si.
Don’t ntion any formal task, just tell her I’ve found sothing important in the corridor.
Also, invite the Paladino Knight Lord and his three attendants.
They will serve as witnesses for today’s proceedings.”
Finishing his words, Murphy reached into the pile of gold coins next to him and picked up a lady’s vampire crown.
He swept away the remaining coins on the crown and said to Maxim:
“Prepare yourself!
In two days, I will give you the initiation after the victory celebration right here.
Fierce loyalty must be rewarded suprely, and without a doubt, this is what you deserve, Mark.”
