In the morning of the second day, Major Fraser, the head of intelligence at Pioneer Fortress, quickly received a report from the dispatched scouts, informing him through the Calculating Pearl that last night’s battle had ended.
From the look of it, the White Oak Battle Group had narrowly escaped a disaster.
That was a relief to the Major.
However, before he could even start outlining his action report, another scout delivered news that robbed him of any appetite for breakfast.
“Major, the war fog spread by the Circle Tower Psychics has completely dissipated, but we found sothing the Transian people left behind at the border!”
The scout’s tone of voice was very strange.
It sounded as though he had been sowhat startled, sothing that left Major Fraser sowhat surprised.
Scouts from the Exploration Corps were so of the best warriors who rarely showed such emotional fluctuations.
“Activate the projection of the Calculating Pearl, I want to see this with my own eyes.”
The Major sent a ssage over and, after a brief interval, a blurred long-distance psychic projection was brought online.
The Mont the scout adjusted the angle, an object that made the Major’s scalp tingle appeared before his eyes.
Human heads!
An entire tower of 600 human heads had been piled up, a broken stele nearby was inscribed with a line of text written in fresh blood in Transian language:
“We dedicate these glorious deaths to the Mother of the Night!
The Hand of Crimson always repays its debt in kind!”

Major Fraser took a deep breath.
He realized that this ssage left by Earl Cardman for Circle Tower was also a blunt and rudintary “declaration of war”.
Circle Tower was responsible for the nearly extinct Blood Vulture Clan in Cardman City, so the vampires retaliated in kind.
In just one night, they wiped out the Hunting Squad of Circle Tower and even left behind this “fallen piece of art” that had gone beyond normal war practices.
This was not a declaration of the end.
This was the beginning of a new cycle of hatred…
“Ah, Transian really is a breeding ground for both barbarians and vampires!
The common factor among these two is that neither succumbs to violence and neither is pleasant!”
Major Fraser rubbed his temples with a headache.
He knew that once his war report was handed in, it would cause a sensation.

The General was soone who valued relationships.
If he could receive news that the offspring and remaining followers of his old friend were safe, the General’s guilt for “neglecting duty” would surely lessen significantly.
Thinking so, the Major activated the Psychic Communication Amplifier before him and sent a ssage to Baroness Milian.

Little Wei Ming cherished the schematic she had in her hands, and turned to Orchid who was gracefully sipping her vampire tea:
